It made me so sad when we had to fire a hard working, substance free driver who worked for the company for 4 years just because his side burns were too long and he refused to shave them because of his religion, and yet, we had a few drunk cooks and servers getting away with coming to work trashed and being rude to other employees and STILL kept their jobs with slaps on the wrists. Fortunately for him, however, he is now working in computer repair, which has been a dream of his, and now makes about 20 an hour fixing computers and gets great benefits. I am glad things turned out alright for him.

1) Taught Microsoft Office to children and senior citizens (the most lethal combination EVER) 2) Assistant Manager at Pizza Hut 3) Briefly dabbled with playground constuction and computer layouts until day three when I couldn’t take it anymore about hearing how many cokehead sluts this guy had coming to his house begging for drugs.

Well, I’m a Network Admin for Cisco now, so, I guess I survived, but the Pizza Hut job still gives me nightmares (like the classic College Nightmare). I used to be a Driver, but I hear they pay insulting wages AND keep some of the delivery fee while you have to use your own vehicle!
Glad I worked for an independent!

Pizza Hut Driver! Quel Dommage!<br

Ride around picking up filthy clothes for about 9,10 hrs, go back to branch and unload filthy ass clothes for 2 hrs, do paperwork for 1.5 hrs. Don't even ask what the pay was. yuk

Wanna shit job? Route sales rep for a uniform company is pretty rough. It's the old "that which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" belief. In this case, I think it gives you a different perspective or outlook on life. I know it did for me. I worked at a cybercafe where one of the bosses was a royal arshole, treated everyone worse than dirt. The amazing thing was that most of the people who worked their were amazing people, filled with potential and promise. Therefore, to this day I "never judge a book by it's cover". People are complex individuals "inside" with abilities and interests that will often surprise you. Don't treat them like they are "spare parts" because of what you see on the "outside".

I agree with Blaine. See, there's the silver lining. Or in the case of the cookware, silver/copper/nickel/stainless steel lining.

But honey, if you hadn't done #7, we wouldn't have the kickass cookware that we do today! :)<br

My next placement is over 3 months during the Summer break - don't know what it'll be yet but I might end up on sales in PC World or something.

I've had: 1) Working as an architect's assistant (read: photocopying) 2) Working as a database manager (read: adding 5000 names and addresses to an MS Access database). Every morning getting there and pulling the pans from under the dog cages and cleaning them with hot water. I shiver when I think about it.

How about kennel help for a pet store. Just remember that no matter what crumby job you've had in the past, someone's had it worse. And don't be ashamed of your past jobs, they're development! I'm no idiot, and I'm working fast food to get myself through college(though I don't eat the stuff they call "food").

Don't sweat it, Chris.
