Jesus Jones
What the hell do they call it when people write about stuff you don't know about in your blog's comment stream? In my garment bitching post, people have started to write about some band going by the name “System of a Down.” What's that supposed to be? An ESL TSR? “Yes, hello? My system of a down. You fix my Brazil!” Gretchen's friend, Cami, listens to “Dead Can Dance,” but I have to ask: can the dead dance? No, they can't – even thought the music group clearly claims that they can. But I've never seen dead dance, and neither have you. Period. That's just silly. And what's up with “They Might Be Giants?” Might? Hey, when I buy an album – I DEMAND that they be giants. Boy! And what are you going to do unless they are?

well then it's about time you support the poor suffering record industry, go out to a store and buy some “System of a Down”, these guys kick major ass. Careful, though – if your usual listening preference is along the lines of Elton John or Tracy Chapman you will be in for a ride…
–
also there are some even more weird named bands out there, here's just a short selection:
'Nervous Christians and the Lions', 'To Live and Shave in L.A.', 'The Well Hungarians', 'Jehova's Waitresses', 'The 4-Skins', 'Eggs Over Easy', 'Shirley Temple of Doom' and 'Kathleen Turner Overdrive'
and yes, these are for real.

What about the Barenaked Ladies? They're neither barenaked (well, on a few songs they are ;) nor are they ladies. Then there's Ben Folds Five. There's only 3 of them!

We'll never know for sure if they are giants, after all this, they might in fact turn out to be merely windmills.

I dunno if SOAD are the best band for a Moxy fan. ;)
But as the others have said, if you like the odd bit of heavy/hard rock then System are great. Their album Toxicity was Spin's #1 record last year.

That Jesus Jones song. I didn't care for it before TechTV. Now I hate it. Make it go away.

…and here I thought you were going to say something about Jesus Jones. Contrary to the previous poster, I'm a pathetic nut for the band and have all their albums. Seriously. Although it made me feel old to see them play again (together again!) at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor and realize that the last time I'd seen them was 10 years before, in high school, and that I wasn't quite sure how I'd made the tour shirt I was wearing last that long.
Although.. now that I think about it, I think I might agree with michele a bit.. I just heard “Right Here, Right Now” about 6 times in the last 6 minutes. Too much of a good thing…

Completely off topic question.
Chris, [or anyone else :) ] do you now if any of the Tech TV shows are broadcasted in Eastern Canada? If yes, would you happen to know which network?
Thanks a big bunch!

Scary is seeing my ate up, 48 year old carcass in Panama City for Spring Break. (What the hell was I thinking?) I brought my entire MP3 anthology of the Fifth Dimension.
The only other person my age in the hotel… wears a speedo. Yikes. Chris, no suit you could have possibly worn could look as bad as THIS suit. It's beyond bad taste. It's plain gross!

and don't forget The New Pornographers… Although if you look and see how they got that name, it does make sense ;) and no, there is no actual porn involved (Sorry).

The New Pornographers are great. No pr0n but the songs are great. There are more catchy hooks in a couple of New Porn songs than in many other entire albums

You forgot …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Andreas. ;) They're actually pretty good… not as good as their Texas brethren At the Drive-In (sniffle), but still quality.
And I guess TechTV is milking that licensing agreement with Jesus Jones for all it's worth, huh, Chris? ;)
