Jacob Appelbaum on Hurricane Katrina Clean-up

Jacob Appelbaum is currently in Algiers, LA providing assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the resulting floods. Tonight we got the opportunity to talk with Jacob about his take on what’s happening during the recovery process and what it’s like to be in the middle of the disaster area from the worst storm event in U.S. history. He also talks about his two weeks of traveling in Iraq and the juxtaposition of perceptions between the war and the current domestic disaster. You can see some of Jacob’s photographs from Houston and New Orleans on Flickr. You can see Jacob speak in person at Webzine 2005 on September 24. After talking to Jacob from Louisiana, we talked with Ted in Mississippi about Hurricane damage in Ocean Springs, MS, the aftermath of massive storm damage along the Mississippi coast and speculated about ways to recover his water damaged computer.
