It Could’ve Been Worse? Bullshit.

So, I was supposed to make some kind of “major” announcement on the 6th of November. As you can see, that date has come and gone with narry a whisper escaping from my digital lips.

I’ll never be at liberty to discuss why nothing was said, however. Even close friends who think they know what happened don’t really know. They’ll never know – nobody will ever know.

One thing is certain: my trust in the future of our industry (and the alleged transparency of the blogosphere) is at an all-time low.

Instead of to Los Angeles, Ponzi and I are moving somewhere within the Seattle area in a matter of weeks (days before our wedding).

Hmmm, Chris Pirillo (founder of Lockergnome and Gnomedex conferences) has been in a bitter, dour, mood lately. A major deal he was working on blew up. We don’t know what happened and he’s not allowed to tell anyone due to lawyers involved (anytime you have to tell your friends lawyers are involved while also being unable to share any of the details

Oh don’t worry Chris. It can’t get too much worse. Whatever it is. Besides, you’ve still got the people you don’t even know to kick around. People like me.

Whatever it is, I look forward to reading about the aftermath of it in future posts. Keep up the good work.

So no move, either, huh? Bummer. Any hints as to what the big “it” was?

Chris, that really sucks. I feel for you man.

Does that mean you are staying put in Seattle then ? Or are you still relocating ?

Chris, I’m sorry to hear this. Regardless of what it was, it sounds like it was more than just a business deal to you.

((((((hugs))))) Not knowing what’s up, all I’ll say is that I hope things work out. You deserve it!

Damn secrets!

Good luck with your move and have fun at the wedding.

Don’t know what the big announcement was, but if I was a bettin’ man, my money would be on you bouncing back with something even bigger and better than the original idea. Keep your chin up dude and ping if you could use a hand, sounding board or a drink. Actually, I’ll have to have the drink for you since I’m on the other coast…..but it’s morning here now, so it’s not a good time. Oh hell, you know what I mean. ;) Hang tough!

Some sort of confidentiality agreement or just don’t care to say?

Okay, so no major announcement. But really, I have no idea what you’re talking about and to write what you did just begs the question why? So, why did you even post that? Bad form. If you have something to complain about, complain away, don’t say something bad is happening but I can’t tell you what. That doesn’t help anyone.

Okay, let me step back from that a bit.

Obviously you’re upset and NDA’s never do anyone any favors. But this is a personal blog so I should berate you for venting in the best way you can given NDAs. Sorry, I was too harsh.

Vent away and sometime someone should find out so we can all learn the nasty stuff people do and prevent it from happening in the future.

Still hoping that some tv version of ZDNet/TechTV happens again ON TV. Fight on!

Ok, I’m thoroughly baffled and more than a little intrigued. I guess I will have to remain perpetually intrigued!

I am trying to have it as it is.

Your future and Ponzi’s are incredibly bright, and all the brighter because you have each other.

Chris,
Man.. I don’t know what happend, but I for one know it was not because of your’s and Ponzi’s lack of effort.
I can imagine though, it is good though that you had not moved all the way down for things to fall through like they did. Then you would have been “BIGTIME” Pissed.
Take a deep breath….
GO find the closest Paint ball course and kill something..
;-)

Da-Chief.

I’m sorry to hear that Chris. You are a good person who has done more for getting people together in our industry from all points on the globe than anyone I know of. I agree with Robert that we shoudl make the next Gnomedex the best and biggest ever. You have my support and I assume but the karma you’ve collected, you’ll have the support more pther peopel than you can count! As we say in Texas: “Dust yourself off brother and get back on that horse!” Seriously, you’ve got plenty more riding to do…

Maybe it couldn’t have been worse, but I bet you’ll come up with something even better in the future.

The best way to get over it is to think: Okay, what do I need to do to create a competitor company that will ground these idiots into the dirt? Even if you never do it, thinking of ways you could will feel good. :)

Chris,
I loved when you did call for help. I recently found this blog, and Im sad to see that you are upset bro. hang in there, you are GREAT, and good things come to be people who wait..and wait..and wait ..and wait. seriously good luck and best wishes!!!

Those who think things couldn’t get any worse are simply lacking imagination.

However, Burroughs (whose work I usually can’t stand) does offer a lil’ ray of sunshine on the nature of your veiled tale of woe.

“Hustlers of the world beware, there is one mark you will never beat, the mark inside”

Makes not sense to post and not say why!

I’d like to know.

Chris, very sorry to hear things went south on your plans. Selfishly, it’s good to have you staying in Seattle. Big picture, it’s too bad whatever “it” was didn’t come to light, but knowing you, there’s likely something bigger waiting down the road. Best of luck- (PS – In choosing a place to settle, keep in mind that Ballard rocks!)
