Use it to clean your disposable razors and save bucks!

It’s not the shaving that causes the blade to dull, but the water and cream! As the water dries, it can cause miniature rust spots. If you thoroughly dry your blades after each use, they’ll last much longer. Isopropyl alcohol displaces the wate easily.

I use a Gillette Power Fusion and clean the blade with alcohol to clean off all the water and cream after each use. I’ve done this since Dec 2 and have yet to have to change the blade – no nicks or burns. The vibration of the razor under the alcohol makes sure that all water has been removed.

I usually change the blade out every week so I figured I saved myself 6 blades. I buy the 16pk blades from Sam’s Club for approx $38. A bottle of the alcohol costs $0.99 and lasts about 2+ months for cleaning purposes only. I’m definitely saving money!

“Rubbing alcohol” is 70% isopropyl and probably the rest water. I don’t see why it would be bad for electrical contacts–it and the water evaporates or you can use a clean cloth or wipe to clean the surface. Rubbing alcohol also cleans plastic glasses lenses great.

What is nice about isopropyl is it dissolves both oil based and water based stuff, you wipe it clean, and the rest evaporates–that is the theory.

Buy rubbing alcohol at “drugstore”–less expensive than hardware store, etc.

To Hoople: 99.7% isopropyl contains only alcohol, a small amount of distilled water that can’t practically be removed from the mixture by distillation, and miniscule amounts of random trace elements. Nothing else. You’re confusing it with rubbing alcohol. “Pure” iso is recommended for cleaning electrical contacts by a wide variety of manufacturers.

Alcohol wipes are great and I always have a large supply at home. My laptops continually get mystery marks on them from who-knows-what and Isypropyl Alcohol cleans it right up.

I would not use isopropyl alcohol for anything electrical. Isoproplyl alcohol contains a small amount of a lubricant which can gum up connetors, Use denatured alcohol instead.
