Is This the Easiest way to Turn Photos into Videos?

We all have tons of photos, whether they’re digital or print. What are you going to do with them all? You could throw them into some kind of video, but many of them are hard to use. All you want to do is create a “photo show”, right?
When one of our chat moderators four_ones sent me a link to this new site called Animoto, I had to check it out. You upload your photos, pick a song… and it creates the mashup for you. You can choose which photos you want. You can highlight certain photos over others.
Animoto Productions is a bunch of Techies and film/tv producers who decided to lock themselves in a room together and nerd out.
Their first release is Animoto, a web application that automatically generates professionally produced videos using their own patent-pending technology and high-end motion design. Each video is a fully customized orchestration of user-selected images and music. Produced on a widescreen format, Animoto videos have the visual energy of a music video and the emotional impact of a movie trailer.
The heart of Animoto is its newly developed Cinematic Artificial Intelligence technology that thinks like an actual director and editor. It analyzes and combines user-selected images and music with the same sophisticated post-production skills & techniques that are used in television and film.
If you choose a free account, you can create 30 second videos. With a paid account, you get much more. Even better… you can click a button and upload your videos directly to your YouTube account! Take a look at the two quick videos I made, just playing around. It’s so easy… and fun! What a great way to capture those moments.

What are you talking about, Chris? PhotoStory is stupid simple. You drag your photos into it and you’re done. If you want you can select some music too.

“Stupid” is right. It’s not the feature, it’s the implementation. Let me guess… you don’t have a problem browsing the Web with lynx? Just wondering. I dare you to produce something that flows EXACTLY the same as my video does – using any desktop software of your choosing. Good luck…

Usually when you buy a DVD burner most of them come with features like that and pretty much every body buy once in a while a DVD burner anyway; and they all have tons of random of transitions also, plus the music of your choice. Of curse they all are different and the way you did it was pretty good, regards…

I was a bit dubious about your level of enthusiasm … but you are right, the end product is quite good. I would love to know the intelligent software used to mix the photos as good as it does.

I saw Your Video on youtube this morning and Tried it for myself. Animoto actually is very easy to use took me like 15 minutes to get everything set and uploaded,Even sent the final product as a video response to your video on youtube. I’m very happy with the way the Photo video came Out,Surprisingly they even had a decent amount of songs to choose from. I’m going to use the 30 second clip I made there as an intro to my videos.

I been watching you for awhile and you said you don’t like/want to but things before your videos start. But I think the video with the heads would be cool to put in the begging of your videos. You might need to short’n it. I don’t think web 2.0 exist or will exist but there is a web1.5 coming whether we like or not.

Nice one. I’m editing a DVD at the moment and was trying to think of video to use in the menu screen. I reckon a couple of choice stills floating around would look pretty good.
I’ll definately look into this further.

Chris, you gotta try putting photos into iMovie ‘08. It’s so easy. Start a new project, pull up the photo inspector, drag an album or event into your project, pull up music inspector, drag a song or two or three into your project, and your done. Publish it as a vid and you have a video slideshow with music with an automatic Ken Burns effect for the photos. I use it all the time. People think I worked on it for hours. High production values. GO MAC OS X!!!
