Is the HP Blackbird 002 any Good?

A caller to the 888-PIRILLO line asked me what my opinion is on the new HP Blackbird 002. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to use this product, so I don’t have an opinion. If you’re talking about a gaming rig, then you definitely NEED a pc… not a Mac. Why would you even ask about a Mac? Seriously… if you’re going for a hard-core gaming rig, a Mac is not for you. You want a Windows machine that will overclock and tweak and handle those games you love so much.

Everything about this machine is perfect for a gamer. The cooling and airflow components are outstanding, and the design is cool. It’s very obvious that the HP engineers took their time in building this rig. Heat is the enemy of performance PCs, and the three biggest heat generators are the CPU, the GPUs, and the power supply. The Blackbird isolates each of them in its own thermal chamber, ensuring that cooling air isn’t contaminated with heat from one component on its way to cool off another. Regardless of performance BIOS modification you may make, the Blackbird can handle the heat.

It really is funny that this person called in when they did. I know I’ve gotten a lot of flak from Windows lovers, who are trying to claim I am now a “Mac FanBoy” who despises Windows. That’s just not true. I am using Windows every single day. I still recommend Windows. I still help troubleshoot Windows. And if a gamer asks me what computer should they buy… I don’t have to think twice. It HAS to be a Windows machine. When it comes to anything else they may want or need to do on a machine… I’ll tell them that the Operating System they choose is solely based on their needs and preferences.

Yeah, pc is where it’s at for gaming still. I think the blackbird is a great choice for someone who is too intimidated to build a gaming rig of their own. The great thing about the Blackbird is that it uses Retail parts, so it should be easy to upgrade.

I have looked at several reviews on this product.They all agreed on one thing Vista on this machine is bad.The only thing is if you don’t have Vista you don’t get direct X 10.I have read that some have done a work around to make direct x 10 work on Xp how good that work around is I don’t really know,Looking at the specs on this machine you would think it will perform very well appearance of the machine looks really sweet.If the caller decides to buy it I hope he gives us a update on his thoughts of the machine.

alienwares are retarded, xps’s are better but if ur gonna spend 6 grand u better get a pc cus if u get a mac im pretty sure they cant even have directx10

i just built my ultimate media/gamer PC and it far surpasses the black bird, but only at a cost of 3,600

you really need to hit the bookstore and learn how to build your own PC

custom PCS are the best PCs.

i have the blackbird002 and there are serious problems with vista the updates seem to **** up the system Ive been on the phone with support countless hours and they seem to think reformating is the answer well…. im sick of it

well, you don’t know that he doesn’t have the money.. and probably the reason why he is buying a ready built gaming rig is because he doesn’t know very much to do with computers, but wants to play games. I mean seriously, its not necessary for you to know something like your Maximum FSB clock to be ‘allowed’ to play resource intensive computer games, he just asked a question, and it is atleast half valid. It is possible to run a game through the Mac Pro via Bootcamp…
