I LOVE my Kindle 3! REALLY long battery life and books download in under 30 seconds for me. I have the WiFi version. Well worth the $139 price tag!

The Kindle is a complete waste outside the USA. Got one for my wife only to find very limited content is able to be downloaded here. Complete rip off really as wouldn’t have bought it if I had known how little was available.

Just discovered this site! I think the Ebook Reader is a great idea and with Version 2 supposedly coming out on Monday hopefully Amazon will have made enough this time around. One thing they could do to improve it would be to incorporate a mobile phone into it ! Then you would take it everywhere and wouldn’t need a separate phone. Pity I won’t be getting a commission for this great idea :-(
I couldn’t get your Video to work BTW.

The Kindle has been a boon to us indie writers; publishing on it allows us to compete with the big players. A reader can customize the Kindle like a bookshelf; try buying books by mostly indie authors, and knit and felt yourself a one-of-a-kind Kindle (use any non-superwash worsted wool yarn; skip the side piece if you want a snug fit).

I thought I’d hate the Kindle – but it turns out I use it all the time. I take it on biz trips, to the doctor’s appts, anywhere I know I’m going to be stuck. Right now I have a wide variety of reading – from mindless mysteries to best seller business books. I was recently “trapped” in the Charlotte, NC airport for 6 hours (thank you USAirways for the screw-up!) – - and instead of paying the (higher price) for a book in the gift shop, fired up the Kindle and downloaded the same book for about $3 less. I have 5 large bookshelves full of books – so it’s not that I’ll give up my paper – but I have to admit the Kindle (flaws and all) is a keeper.

What’s not to like (other than initial the purchase price of the unit)?
– Most everything (even new releases) for no more than $10.00. With that type of discount I can live with DRM.
– On a cold and frosty morning you don’t HAVE to go out and get the paper. Just roll over, open the Kindle, and for $0.75 and 30 seconds you can download NYT or other popular national paper. All from the comfort of your nice toasty bed.
– On a recent business trip to Atlanta, my traveling companion wanted to access his email. I fired up my laptop and was greeted with the airports wi-fi welcome screen. For only $10.00 I could get access. No way. I shut down the laptop, started the Kindle and after some finagling (is that a word?) was able to access the email account for free. Granted it IS a bit cumbersome to do it, but it was worth the $10.00 savings to me.
– Battery life? I’ve had a charge last WEEKS (as long as I’m not doing a lot of downloading). I think the USB complaint is a bit weak.

Very happy with the device and take it with me whenever I travel.

I think its worth it. My dad has one and absolutely loves it. It’s great for situations where you can’t have a computer. Nice little invention.

I’ve got the Sony E-Reader and I love it! The only thing I don’t like is the DRM. Also, Sony’s book store is really lacking compared to the Kindles selection/price of books. I think I’m going to upgrade to the Kindle 2 as soon as it’s released next year.

I enjoy using the Kindle when I use it. I’ve had it for a year now. However, I don’t use it as much as I should. I tend to forget about it. I don’t ever want to read a book on my phone though, so when I travel the Kindle goes with me for sure.

I’m interested in version 2!

So I bought one, and was frustrated that I had to wait on backorder for a few weeks, but it finally arrived, and I am totally hooked! To be able to download new arrivals for ten bucks, then not have to deal with them when I’m finished reading, is delightful. My iPhone would never have enough battery power to satisfy my reading appetite, and the electronic ink is so easy on my old eyes that I can’t put it down!

You could read books that are in PDF format.
A lot of my college textbooks have come with a CD with the PDF format of the book on it.
I would love to carry that single device around with me, than lugging 40lbs of books between classes.
