[...] “Outsourcing” Your Social-Networking Activities August 2nd, 2007 at 6:10 pm Chris Pirillo is actually having a pretty good discussion over the whole issue of “outsourcing” your social-networking activities, if by “outsourcing”, you mean “identity theft” — sort of. Someone is impersonating him on Pownce. Luckily fake Chris Pirillo (on Pownce) doesn’t seem to be malicious. But sadly, he’s not funny either.
I don't know Chris, harmless or not, someone borrowing my identity still rather creeps me out. And as far as fan appreciation day, I confess it is a good idea in my humble opinion.

As far as ever getting sick of the A-lister, in the sense that Proxy Pirillo mentioned, crowd source me all you want. I don't see a thing wrong with that. I join organizations to benefit from them. I don't think it matters if it be a fraternity, a social network or a job. What do you want some no-name nobody as the head or top of your network? The only problem I have with social networks is that there are far too many of them and integration with other services such as delicious, twitter etc., is very clunky.

There are definite benefits to being in a crowd. I make no bones about the fact that I benefited from following you, and other A-listers, over the years. The first benefit being the knowledge gained from the interaction with the "gnomies". The second being the benefits of the feedback from the crowd. My IRC addiction has been and still is one of the best resources on the web.

As far as you last comment on lockergnome, I think it is great what you have done with it. I think it is, in fact, an awesome gesture of fan appreciation. My only regret is that I wish my health and time would permit me to write more over there. Keep up the great work.
