I use Outlook 2007 and have yet to have a single major problem with it. I use it wit Vista x64 Home Premium. I *do* wish it could be a little more responsive, but it works very well. I’ve been though about the same cycle of email programmes as Chris, but since using Outlook 98, I’ve never looked back, and have just continued on using Outlook. It does everything I need, and frankly, I don’t really quite understand the problems some of you seem to be having with it. Just keep you PST files trim, and all should be fine, for the most part.

I personally always used to recommend using Outlook but after purchasing 2007 I have to change my opinion. I now manager my life with google calendar and use only gmail. I do however still use outlook to pull down my emails to I have a local version of them.

I’ve been struggling with MS Office 2007 and their so called intergration with MS Accounting Express. This is the worst mess I’ve ever encountered. Not only is it slow and not intuitive, it locks up and dies almost every time I use it. Then it wants to take several minutes to send all my system information to MS –I suppose the money grabbers at MS believe they are the only ones with work on their plate. How about giving us some software that works for a change. Afterall, MS Office 2007 is just a pretty face on most of their same old junk, except that they’ve screwed up their own software worse than before. Any suggestions for small business owners would be helpful.

Chrissy is right. This is way FUBAR. For those of you who think that HTML Email is a spam thing, guess again. In the Fortune 100 company where I’m an IT architect, sending forms via Outlook has been an accepted business management practice for years. With Exchange 2007 eliminating Outlook forms, and the Outlook team completely F-ing up HTML email, Microsoft is driving the cattle toward SharePoint. Talk about asserting monopolistic power…

I think its time to start honing my Linux/Java skills again…

I stopped using Outlook years ago. I’ve looked at 2003 and 2007 and remain unimpressed.

I take it back, I’ve used Outlook at previous jobs where I had no choice. But I dumped it after Thunderbird came out ( way back in the 0.x version days).

It’s overkill for home use and with web-based calendars like Google and Yahoo! it’s just not necessary.

Oh and HTML mail is evil. I get some newsletters in HTML but I NEVER send HTML-based emails.

You just have to see the mess that lotus notes makes of HTML e-mail to understand that it should not be used.

Or it is that Lotus is so incompatible with its HTML rendering that it is actually the problem. HTML is here to stay.

Thunderbird is my email program of choice. Of course at work I have to use outlook, and it’s a memory hog thats for sure.

HTML e-mail should be consigned to the bin, it is waste of time and effort and mainly used by companies sending out crap you dont want.
If everyone use rich text or plain text it would be so much easier.
