Is Bowling a Sport?

You’d probably never imagine that bowling on your iPhone would be addictive. Then again, you’ve likely not played Downhill Bowling yet! This game takes a lot of coordination and concentration, and it’s fun!

Downhill Bowling takes the action outside of the bowling center and down the highway. The object is simple: guide the bowling ball down the mountain while trying to knock down as many pins as you can. There are ten sets of pins to knock over. There are no spares in this bowling game either, so make sure you get the ball right in the middle of the pins for a strike.

Earn power-ups along the way like speed, jumping, hover and bomb to help blast the pins. Mushrooms affect the physics of your ball, so avoid them. In addition to pins, you should also knock down raccoons, snowmen and other obstacles.

You really have to keep your hands steady and pay attention in this game. Each level gets a lot more difficult, with sharper turns and faster tracks. Be sure you check this game out for hours of fun!

anything with a major league should be a sport

It’d better be a sport, Chris…

This app sounds good, a little bit of Rocket Bowl is integrated into it…but I’ll stick to the hardwood TYVM :)

If ‘Golf’ is a sport, then so is Bowling……

This game is great! My girlfriend loves it!
I think it’s a very nice alternative.

Take a look at “Bounce On”. It’s a bit like Mario Land. Cool game too.

If you’ve ever done any serious bowling Chris, you wouldn’t ask this question. It takes a lot of eye, hand and overall body control to throw a 16 lbs ball down the alley with any amount of consistent accuracy.
Bowling on an iPhone might be fun but it sure isn’t doing your cardiovascular health any good.

Bowling is a sometimes competitive activity that often evidences a great deal of skill. Other examples include golf, darts, and billiards.

Absolutely bowling is a sport. Did you know that Bowling is the #1 participation sport in the U.S. with over 66 million people bowl annually. And as the father of a professional bowler I know what it takes to compete at a higher level. Bowling never gets the respect it deserves.

Bowling has cup holders to put your beer that makes it a game not sport.

I could use a beer. Anybody want to go bowling?

@Bob Firestone
Thats probably one of the dumbest things i’ve ever heard.
If your car has a cupholder, do you drink and drive? NO!

Just watch Team Pergamon in Gothenburg to see a professional hard training team in action.
I bowl, an I never drink alcohol

Just because you’r an alcoholic doesn’t mean that everyone is. I drink energy drinks when I bowl.

Bowling is a SKILL and not a SPORT. It is in the same line as golf, horseshoes or darts. They are all skills because you do your best and then compare your score to your opponent’s. A sport, in my definition, is one where each play gets the chance to interfere with their adversary through either physically beating the crap out of each other, fighting for control over a common item such as a ball, tests of physical endurance, strength or other forms of physical prowess.

Heck Yes bowling is a Sport….Why would anyone think its not…

Leagues
Champions
Cups
People who dedicate their lives to it

Sounds like A sport to me. heck guys pool and.curling is a sport…..
If you ask me A bunch of guys tackling each other over a ball dont sound like a sport….so drop your stereotypical view of bowling and accept it…there is alot more Sprtsmanship in bowling than hockey and football combined.

What Do You Think?
