iPonzi iPurchased iPhone – oCrap
Ponzi loves her new iPhone – with a 14 day “review period” she can easily return her phone if she isn’t satisfied with it. Of course, she has faced some problems with the iPhone, namely Outlook synchronization. And, of course, there’s also some security issues with using the built-in WiFi connectivity. Overall, though, she gives the iPhone a 9 out of 10, while I give it an 8 out of 10.
I may get one … someday. It’s articles like these that give me the willies:
If Apple wanted to be “revolutionary,” it would sell an unlocked version of the iPhone that, like a computer, you could bring to the carrier of your choice. An even more radical device would be the “X Phone”—a phone on permanent roam that chose whatever network was providing the best service. Imagine, for example, using your iPhone to talk on Sprint because it had the best voice coverage in Alaska, while at the same time using Verizon’s 3G network for Internet access. Of course, getting that phone to market would be difficult, and Apple hasn’t tried.

Using an iPhone with Wi-Fi is no more dangerous than using a Wi-FI enabled laptop.
You should never send sensitive personal information using email, regardless of what network you’re using.
For added security you should enable SSL encryption for POP3, IMAP and SMTP in your email client. Mail.app on iPhone supports SSL for all of these protocols and transfered encrypted IMAP and SMTP settings from my desktop when syncing mail accounts with my Mac.
In addition, you should never submit sensitive information to any website unless your using a encrypted (HTTPS) connection, even if you’re using a direct DSL or cable modem connection.

[...] I always respect those who can stand behind their opinion and do it with passion. Even when I disagree with them, I respect their character for standing up for their beliefs. My buddy, Chris Pirillo went on the record to say the iPhone was a bust. Chris used his knowledge and the iPhone specifications to form his opinion and believed strongly that the iPhone wasn’t worth buying. Recently, Ponzi, Chris’ wife, bought an iPhone and expressed positive feelings for it. Chris was still against it to some degree and vowed to stay away from the iPhone. [...]

Sounds like Chris may be changing his mind a little.
