iPhone 4 Has Twice as Much RAM as the iPad
Apple has traditionally stayed pretty quiet about the specs inside of their iPhones. While we know that the original iPhone and iPhone 3G contained 128MB of RAM, with the iPhone 3GS packing 256MB, Apple never really discussed it much. They were more focused on the overall performance of the devices than in individual specifications. It was confirmed during a WWDC session, though, that iPhone 4 packs 512MB of memory inside the slim gadget.

The iPad only has 256MB of RAM, which explains why the new iMovie app will only run on iPhone 4. Older models – and even the iPad – don’t have what it takes under the hood to support it. Registered Apple developers can watch the session where this was discussed. To the rest of you – you’ll just have to take our word for it.
With TWICE the RAM in this little baby, it’s no wonder we’re finally going to have some serious multi-tasking capabilities with the iPhone. The 3GS and its predecessors simply couldn’t run multiple applications at once like this sleek little number will be able to do. Personally, I cannot wait until my iPhone 4 is in my hot little hands. Expect full demonstration and review videos when it arrives.
