Intel Hates Bloggers?
Tiny Screenfuls isn't so tiny, but it seems that someone at Intel believes that blogging doesn't… “add to the bottom line.” I beg to differ. Then again, maybe I should be buying an AMD processor when I get a new machine in a couple of months. Is AMD more blog friendly than Intel? I ask, only because I believe the final answer will influence my decision. One computer purchase does not necessarily add to either company's bottom line, but there's mindshare to contend with. Do I stick with Intel, a company that says this about Josh's enthusiast activities:
“Job functions such as yours are exactly the type of 'luxurious' jobs/fat that we need to be cutting. Your salary and gadget costs could be better put to work in other areas of the company, and all of this blogging and other non-productive activity could be dispersed among many other people throughout the company.”
Hey Josh? If Intel “disperses” you, my suggestion is that you “disperse” yourself to Microsoft – a company that actually understands the value of blogs, podcasting, wikis, and general user technology beyond CPUs. Blogging isn't software, and blogging isn't hardware – it's wetware. Tell Grade 11 to go back to Grade 1, Josh. If it weren't for you, Intel would have nobody in the blogosphere; they're an old, slow company thinking in old, slow ways.
