What does an earthquake feel like? The overpowering sensations are
astonishing. Was standing up when the 7.1 quake roared at us. It literally
ROARED – like a jet approaching, passing over, and flying away – except the
roar was from below, not above. Another loud, staccato sound sounded like a
machine guy: dik, dik, dik, dik, dik… People said it was the building
bending, giving, but not breaking. The dik… dik… sound was the sound of
light switch connectors breaking, wall board moving about, contruction
boards straining, outside masonry snapping off, and so forth.
Good to know. Thanks for freaking me out, Joe. I've been through countless tornados and thunderstorms, but I've yet to have the ground tremble beneath my feet. Unless you count Grechen's and my first kiss. She told me that frenching gagged her, so I haven't used the tongue since then. Think your safe from any kind of natural disaster? Think again.
