Images of Ireland
The Images of Ireland Desktop Theme for Windows XP comes to you courtesy of Microsoft (for Windows XP Home and Professional Editions). “It includes a desktop wallpaper and a screensaver depicting images from around the island of Ireland.” What I don't understand is… why didn't they also change the UI to something a bit more green? Go ahead and download it if you're feeling lucky – or if you're into the whole Irish thing (and don't want your desktop pinched come St. Patrick's Day). Drink some green beer, keep your eyes peeled for leprechauns, and enjoy some images of Ireland. Then, drop into Classic mode and get greener – because Microsoft doesn't let you paint your Windows green within the Luna theme (and no, the puke / olive color doesn't count). What are you wearing for St. Patrick's Day? I'm pulling out my Green Lantern Underoos… which probably don't fit me anymore. St. Patrick wore Spiderman Underoos, BTW.
Because of St. Patrick's patronage, the celebrations in Dublin have been extended to a week-long event called St. Patrick's Festival, encompassing a spectacular fireworks display (Skyfest), open-air music, street theatre and the traditional parade. The topic of the previous year's (2004) St. Patrick's Symposium was “Talking Irish,” during which the nature of Irish identity, economic success and the future was discussed. Many Irish people wear a bunch of shamrock on their lapels or caps on this day, while children wear tri-color (green, white and orange) badges. Girls traditionally wore green ribbons in their hair (many still do).
Will Wikipedia go green, too?
