I Was a Garbage Pail Kid

OH EM GEE! I’m more excited than a destitute college kid finding 10-for-a-dollar ramen noodles at the local supermarket! Actually, is the word “destitute” redundant in that sentence? Could I have just said “college kid” and you’d have gotten the point? The cost of a college education is even more bank-breaking than when I went to school, and it was pretty bad back then.

Anyway, I’m getting off point. Let’s examine the reason for my jubilation!

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a collector of non-sports cards, and I recently shared with you my new purchase of Wacky Packages. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, really. I’ve been a much more avid gatherer of Garbage Pail Kids, and after doing a little digging, I’ve discovered that there will be a brand new series coming out in October! A BNL! Just in time for Halloween!

Thank you, Topps! You have brought meaning to my boring, miserable life!

Okay, okay. My life is only boring and miserable when Diana’s away. An old geek like me needs to cling to something in times like these, you know? Garbage. Pail. Kids. Do you understand how important this is in the grand scheme of things? How it could tip the balance in everything from world politics to climate change to all of the best television shows and movies and the greatest art and literature ever created in the history of humankind? And the way food tastes from now on? And how brightly the sun shines? (Eww. I shun sunshine.)

Granted, I may be exaggerating a bit. But let me rejoice in this monumental… er… moment! But don’t let me hog all the fun: rejoice with me, won’t you? What really makes you geek out? What in the world makes you turn into a five-year-old going to Disneyland for the first time? Share in the comments below, won’t you?
