Those who are sitting near you will not appreciate getting a cold, flu, or other "bug" from you. Also, take cough drops with you even if you're not sick. Indoor theaters and performing venues can often be very dry inside. The preformers and the rest of the audience will not be thrilled to hear you coughing. And for the ladies (and those men who wear cologne), go very easy on fragrance, maybe not wear it at all. Those who use them often don't realize how much they are using. There are many healthy-looking people who have problems with fragrances (myself among them) who literally cannot breathe when somebody nearby is using fragrances. In a reserved seating situation, these people either have to possibly aggravate their asthma or leave the performance entirely. And cell phones: so rude. We went to a classical piano solo concert and some idiot let his cell phone ring during a quiet passage. The pianist was so involved in her music that she didn't notice but all 900+ people in the auditorium did. This in spite of the fact that the management made an announcement telling people to turn off cell phones, pagesrs and cameras.

Another comment: Do not go to a show when you are sick. I can relate to that one because I just had my first daughter. And every where I go I'm constantly worried about what is the kid going to do. I can't stand going anywhere because I don't want to be the guy with the noisy baby LOL!And the cellphone tip is an obvious one but you know as well as i do how much that gets ignored. They need to install some cell phone jammers in the theaters for plays and movies. Welp E U Later.

I thought these were some great tips. The actors will often give recognition to the sound/lighting/projection booth during curtain call. This isn't because you're a great audience, it's to say, "Hey, there are a group of people who busted their butts just as much as any actor!"
I've worked on shows where I put in over 300 hours in five weeks. Being on the crew takes just as much dedication as any actor, and just because you may not notice what they do, or what they have done to make that show happen doesn't mean they don't exist once the curtain goes upPlease, the next time you go to a show, give that standing ovation not only for the actors, but for the techies as well.

I work in theater as a tech, and you would be surprised how ignored all of these things are…

Just an addendum: As a person in technical theater, please, please, PLEASE recognize good technical work. People! Set your phone on silent or turn it off!! Its not that hard!!

Seriously, in every movie I go too, someone’s phone always rings. It is SOO annoying. Not only is it loud, but their ringtone is some rap song.<br
