People have been hooking computers together since the dark ages, using db25 serial ports and parallel ports and running DOS based terminal programs. Seems a bit cumbersome as well, as the two computers have to be in proximity to each other, within reach of the cable.Any files I want to share between computers I just throw on a USB Flash Drive and plug it into the other computer. Plus, the Flash drive is also a good media for extra back up, as long as you don't take it through too many record cycles. The same could be said of an external hard drive, though it's a bit less convenient.

The concept is nothing new. Samba is uber slow on my new MacBook pro if you don't know how to tweak it! I'd love to buy this when it comes available. It spares me from trying out other suggestions that might mess up my lovely machine.

This is definitely faster than using Ethernet when transferrig files between a mac and a pc.
