My club is a member of APCUG and we have been around since mid 80's. I our area we have PC,Mac, and Linux club available to all. APCUG is a good source to learn how to start a club . Many resources can be used to advertise your club: library web site link, official city web site link, throw away newspapers & newsletters, announcements on radio for community activities. Local colleges also usually have on campus computer clubs. Lots of good contacts if you just look around. Our club started small in one individual's home. That is all you need and a few people with the same interest. Good luck with your club , it is a great way to meet people with similar interests and be useful to your community !

Start a computer club? Why not just join and be active in one the hundreds of PC MAC and Linux User Groups that already exist? Go to the APCUG dot ORG
website for a wealth of information on the how-to's of computer clubs.
Go to tinyurl dot com slash 3xhno7 for a world-wide directory of groups that have been around for years, twenty five or more in some cases!
All of these groups need fresh blood and new ideas, as well as many of them needing new meeting venues and preferably "home bases". Sadly the big corporations which formerly provided exemplary support for these groups have for the most part abandoned them, no longer providing programs and speakers, free or discounted software and a plethora of door prizes as in the past. Nonetheless there are numerous thriving User Groups out there, and all of them welcome new members.

Meetup.com usually has a few computer groups in your local area. I belong to a few, but haven't made it out to any meetings yet.
