Chris P writes: “I have worked in a supermarket for a number of years. I have seen a lot of people come into the store in a good mood… and leave in a bad one! Here are my top 5 tips for a easy and stress-free shopping trip.”

  • Know the busy and quiet times of a store. this can help you have a quicker shop, and less people to get in the way. If you go during the busy times, it will almost certainly lead to stress during your shopping… for a number of reasons.
  • Be prepared. There’s nothing worse than if you are on a monthly shopping budget, than to go into a supermarket with out a shopping list or idea of what you want.Creating a list… whether it be on your PDA, or a piece of paper… can save you from those impulse buys that stores strive for, thus saving you money.
  • Try to be in a good mood! The cashiers have been sitting there all day, doing the same thing. It gets repetitive. In most cases, the casher will be polite to you. Be polite back! This will not only make your checkout experience a lot better… it will also improve the cashers mood, causing less mistakes!
  • Choose the right cart. If you have a small cart or a basket you cant fit much in them, meaning you have to buy less items. Having a big cart makes you want to fill it, or tempts you to buy more than you normally would have.
  • Do you really need to go shopping and spend more hard-earned cash? Make sure you actually need to go shopping. Whats in your cabinets and fridge? In most cases, you can have enough food in the house without actually going shopping for more!

Why does Chris do these crappy top five lists that don’t have anything to do with technology?

I’m kinda confused…the video is about open-source but the words are about grocery shopping….chris i think you go some stuff messed up…

Shopping can be fun if you want it to be. The last tip is especially true. Too many times do we go shopping when we have plenty of tuna fish or other things in the pantry worth eating that aren’t even close to being expired.

wow thanks ill have to remember it for when i go next firday

LMFAO FACE WHEN VID GETS STUCK

I try not to buy at QFC (It’s across the street!), because of the high prices on the produce (Not even with their card discount you can save!). Most of the time I can make a trip to Walmart to buy some canned groceries and could save money. But I prefer to make my own meals than going to fast food and expend extra money.

Ya I was there in chat room when he recorded it

yup, everybody knows. EVERYONE! Heard that before!

I’ve heard that it’s hard on your stomach to shop while you’re hungry. It activates your enzymes on an empty stomach.

thanks for showing my top 5 tips chris!.

couldn’t have said it any better myself..

Good tips, it’s easy to fall temptations, Never shop hungry and follow the list

I don’t have to worry about high prices. :D
I’m very good friends with most of the cashiers at my local grocery stores. I get discounts and free food. It’s great. I love it.
The only type of reading material I buy are comic books. I don’t think I’d enjoy those as much if they were in audio format.

Definitely shop with a list but also if you shop in one particuliar store that has different stores in different towns, price match items (i.e. BJ’s, Sam’s Club). I find items in different twons can cost more or less depending on where you go. A question I posed to Customer Service who told me, it had something to do with the unions, the price of gas and other BS. Two stores are only 13 miles from each other and the Fresh Step cat litter price varies by up to $2.00. What the hell, how does cat litter affect the the union?

So I shop in the cheaper store ($10.59 for 40lb) and save on stress and my gas. I didn’t like that part of town anyway. Always on the news, someone in that part of the borough is always getting shot or killed after dark.

So make a list and price check the stores and shop smart (and use coupons, they make a BIG difference).

My tip is don’t go shopping when your stomach are empty. Maybe this is under the “be prepared” under the list. Because when you go shopping when you are hungry, you end up buying all the things that you want. Not what you need.

Spot on impersonation of Ponzi

Haha now i will be pro in shopping!

**** u, you little ****. god wat the **** is ur problem

I work at a Grocery store. It’s Stop N Shop and my friend Eric works there too. I love cabbage.

go after you eat or not hungry so you dont buy stuff that just looks good. make a list and only get that.
