How to Disable Windows Error Reporting

http://live.pirillo.com/ – ChrisH from the chat room poses this question:

Hey, I’m ChrisH from the chat room and I was wondering about something: in Vista sometimes I get an annoying popup when closing out a program that says "This program has stopped responding" they it says something about Windows will try to find a solution and fix it. Any idea how to get rid of this popup or why this is happening to me?

When a program stops responding, Windows Error Reporting pops up. This lets Microsoft know of a potential problem which they might fix in the future.

to disable error reporting in Windows Vista:

  • Open the Control Panel
  • Open the Problem Reports & Solutions applet
  • Under the Advanced option you can disable problem reporting

You’ll probably want to contact the software developer if the problem constantly occurs, as the program is actually crashing.

Do you have any suggestions for ChrisH?
