Fonts are awesome. I used to scan my own little characters into the computers and create fonts with an expensive program. The fonts could then be used in a web browser, or even a word document. If you’ve always wanted to create your own fonts but can’t afford expensive programs to help you, you’re in luck! Community member Daniel has passed along a resource to let you make your own font for free!
fontcapture lets you create a font from your own handwriting. There’s no software to download and install, all you need is a printer and a scanner. Simply fill in the font template, scan and upload it to their website, and download your completed font. The fonts you create using fontcapture can be used on both Windows and Mac computers!
I did this prior to creating this video, and it really works! It was simple to do, and a lot of fun. My friend Natasha does some web designing. She remarked that this turned out so well, it’s like something that would take a designer a week to do using expensive software! It really does turn out that good!
