How to Create a DVD for Free

Recently, I needed to burn a DVD of an old video to send to SpikeTV. I tried using the Vista DVD Authoring tool. It built it easily, but wouldn’t burn. So of course, I needed an alternative. Even though I ended up making the DVD using iDVD (part of Leopard iLife in OS X), I still wanted to find a free alternative for Windows. I threw it out to my chat room, to see what they use.
Someone suggested I try Dvd Styler. It’s an open source program for both Windows and Linux. DVDStyler is a cross-platform DVD authoring application that makes possible for video enthusiasts to create professional-looking DVDs. The main DVDStyler features are:
- you can drag and drop MPEG files directly
- you can create NTSC/PAL menus
- you can import image file for background
- you can place text and images anywhere on the menu screen
- you can change font/color
- you can put buttons, change font and colors
- you can copy and paste any menu object
- you can set chapters for each movie
- you can change post command for each movie

if your video file isn’t in the exact right mpeg2 format, you’re gonna need to transcode (k3b does not transcode). I’ve had good luck with devede for linux. another option for windows is winavi… it’s not free, but it seems to be the best transcoder I’ve used, and will create an authored dvd directory, which you can then burn with something like cdrtfe (cdrtfe is free, and btw is pretty great free burning software).

You dont have to post it…that is unless youre a weenie, lowly self-esteemed, loser, moron that somehow gloms some degree of ego gratification from it. That or a troll.

You need more than just a good video card, and 2gbs of ram to have a good gaming pc, but that is a good start. At least the 2gbs of ram anyways, but yea good start. Um I’ve never heard of that kind of video card so I Can’t help u there, but if your gonna get a video card make sure it is pci-express compatible.

Just cause pci-express video cards are better than AGP, and PCI in my opinion anyways. Oh and make sure your motherboard can handle pci-express cards, meaning that it has pci- express slots. That’s about all i’m gonna explain for now so reply if you want to know more i guess. later

If you don’t know what a optical drive and hard disk are, then you’ll be literally clueless when it comes to building your system. GO watch some guides on how to build a computer. GO read up on hardware a bit more. And if you want a PC that can run virtually all recent gamex at maximum settings, then you’ll be spending anywhere from $1,500-$2,000.
