Not only are these ten steps to fascism but to casrism. Cubans have been living in this type of society since 1959.

The same thing is now happening in Venezuela with Chavez. Both regimes have very close ties with the Iranians.

The world just doesn't give a hoot.

I disagree, try thinking of equality and freedom If someone was given the task to make a compilation of opinions that have appeared in newspapers from columnists, readers, and editorials, they would readily determine that liberals prioritize issues based on equality and a communal viewpoint, whereas conservatives prioritize issues based on freedom and individual responsibility. Both convictions are genuine. Why then such a crazed difference in these opinions? History identifies the problem to be political extremism

Exactly 100 years ago, 884 delegates, consisting of revolutionaries and opportunists from 25 countries including America, met in Germany with biased claims of inequality and class struggle. These self described intellectuals, devised plans to destroy capitalism, infiltrate and revolutionize trade unions, and use anarchy and lawlessness to demilitarize countries at war, even if a country was fighting a defensive war to protect its citizens.

Russian delegate Lenin and other group-think revolutionaries used this 1907 assembly to spark the Russian revolution, inciting unthinkable terror and class warfare. Millions died as radicals turned on farm workers, factory workers turned on the factory owners, and the government executed citizens who disagreed with a leftist "one political party" ideology. Russia became a nation led by intellectual misfits, who knew nothing of governing, farming, or running factories and today has neither freedom or equality.

It took American workers decades to expel most but not all revolutionaries from its rank and file. As union membership plunge, union leaders take no responsibility for the decline and it appears that politics rather than the worker is the priority. Although union members may have various political views, their union dues worth hundreds of millions are given almost exclusively to Democrats. Similar to Lenin`s " one political party" ideology. Today, George Soros and Moveon (opportunists) use money to influence politicians and Media Benjamin and Code Pink (revolutionaries) use threats and lawlessness to intimidate Policy makers. Both groups slander the military

The fact that there are no comments on this post is a statement in and of itself. I'm one of those old folks who learned history and civics (government) in elementary, middle & high school. Our society today tends to be non-historical. We spend a lot of time in "bread and circus" pursuits (I love watching "Dancing with the Stars") rather than paying attention to our move towards Fascism. Everybody in the Pirrillo blogosphere should follow the link and read the Guardian article. There's a lot to think about, even if you disagree with the author. I would like to hope that those in the blogosphere would be on the front lines against Fascism. In case you think it can't happen to you, in the past (before the internet) my phones were tapped and my mail was monitored (without a warrant, by the way) because I knew a person who was thought (mistakenly) to be a Communist. And, for those of you who like real books, you should read George Orwell's novel "1984". I picked it up last year and read it again (after a lapse of 30+ years). Frightening in how far we've come to represent his Big Brother society.

<!--%kramer-pre%-->Chris Pirillois getting more and more political along with his tech rants, raves, and adventures. Good for him. He recently linked to a Guardian Unlimited article on Fascism in American in 10 Easy Steps. Amazing how easy it all is.<!--%kramer-post%-->
