We have no business celebrating another country’s independence day, much less Mexico’s. We have a drug war on our border that we can barely contain. Mexican troops and police have crossed our border without permission to fight this war. We have at least 12 million illegal aliens 90% of which are from Mexico, and out of this illegal aliens hold at least 7.7 million American and legal immigrant non farm jobs. Mexico is directly responsible for the drain on our economy caused by there people illegally entering the United States. Between stolen jobs, the depressed wages, being on our social programs, and using our health care system without paying for the services cost us at least 320 billion a year. Then we have our own governments estimates that 1 out of every 100 illegals is a terrorist. This comes to at least 120,000 terrorist allowed into this country by our governments refusal to seal the southern border. Some in our government would have you believe terrorist here came down through Canada, not so. Canada’s ports are far more secure than most of ours. All of this allowed by our government so corporate America can have cheap illegal labor. Plus this is not our independence day.

I live in New Mexico. Finding good Mexican and New Mexican food is easy here.

I’d suggest green chile cheeseburgers, carne adovada (pork marinaded in red chile sauce and slowly cooked till it falls apart), and/or fajitas (Tex-Mex invention of grilled strips of beef, onions, and strips of bell peppers on good flour tortillas). Kick back with a Negra Modelo or Dos Equis beer.

Why do we “celebrate” CdM, anyways here in the US? Do we celebrate Bastille Day (7/14)? Canada Day (7/1)? Peruvian Independence Day (7/28)? {Wow – lots of revolutioning in July…)

I guess descendants of those countries will celebrate those days. And we do celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but quite a lot of us have Irish blood in us. But outside of those with Mexican blood, what is the big deal? (Same question for non-Irish about St. Patrick’s Day, too)

OK – it gives us an excuse to drink Dos Equis, Corona, and all sorts of Margaritas while eating inexpensive yet tasty food that will give us much gas (and for guys, the related entertainment). That just might be a good enough reason.
