How to Become an Ethical Hacker

Do you want to be a Certified Ethical Hacker?

I know you think you’re a “hacker” because you run scripts that someone else wrote, but… no. It takes a lot more skill than that. It takes education. In some cases, that education may have been attained through experience. Need a jump start?

Izea approached me and asked if I’d be interested in taking an ethical hacking course valued at $2,995. I said: “Sure, let me get my wallet. ARE YOU CRAZY?!” I’m not a security advisor, nor do I want a career in code. That would certainly be a small price to pay for training that could lead to bigger and better contracts if I happened to be in that line of work.

If you’ve ever called yourself a hacker (but weren’t anything more than a glorified script kiddie), here’s your chance to redeem yourself… at least, as far as certification is concerned. I’m not sure you can consider yourself a real hacker until you have the respect of your peers. Still, that shouldn’t keep you from attaining as much knowledge as you possibly can.

Okay, so what if I gave one of YOU access to the full ethical hacking course from EC-Council?

You’d have a chance to learn (or reinforce your understanding of) security fundamentals, penetration testing, computer forensics, disaster recovery, secure programming, and more. All you have to do to qualify for this giveaway is leave a valid comment as to why you’re deserving of it.

Remember that punctuation, usage, grammar, and spelling count – if you’re not willing to throw back a decent paragraph, what makes you think you’d be competent enough to handle such a course? So, give us your story.

Post?slot_id=36370&url=http%3a%2f%2fsocialspark

Why should you become the next certified ethical hacker? Tell me why! Again, I’d request that you put a little thought into this. If you’re wanting this because of your current or future career, I do believe your reasons should reflect that passion!

because i told you to

I should get the hacker book because i think my computer is not very secure and information is power it cant take anyhing away and i want to get the hacking course cause i want it u rok chris i want to keep my computer secure and i want to know more about hacking and stuff like that I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT GOO CHRIS You rock by the way i sent u a twitter direct message its NiteAngei the “L” is an i!!

I would love this opportunity, I have never delved much into the hacking world, I have never done any programming, but I have always been interested in it. I hear my friend talk to me about it, and I can’t help but thinking,” Wow, I have to learn how to do this!” I also would like to recieve this opprotunity because I want to expand my knowledge, I want to have something to do with my time, something valuable that I will be interested in and I would want to be doing this as much as possible. As much as I love watching you Chris, I also want to do something productive with my time!

I feel that if I am granted with this opportunity, I would be grateful, because I will finally do something, something that I find very interesting, it might be laziness, that might be the reason I have never done this on my own, but the will power is there, I would love to direct this will power into becoming a ethical hacker. I do know my way around a computer, but this knowledge is not enough, I would love to know more, Please understand that this would be a amazing thing for me, I would love to get a start on something new and exciting, I would love to make a ethical hacker of myself! Thank you for at least reading this!

I should get this great opportunity because in a couple of years when I am out of school I want to go into Internet Security and work as a Security Technician. I like to protect what matters to me, which is my data and keep others from getting theirs stolen. I have a living right now helping people, both by my YouTube videos (http://youtube.com/user/thetechsoup) and on my WyldRyde channel. The reason I want to take this class is because a couple of years ago my parents identity was stolen and it has taken the last 4 years to get it back. Again, I want what happened to my parents not to happen to me or them again.

That is why I would love to take this class.

If I was honored with $3K for learning ethical hacking, it might help me better understand yet another oxymoron. Like business intelligence.

Hey Chris, i am a senior in high school in northern New Hampshire. I am deeply interested in everything to do with computers, i have been tuning into your stream for about a year now. After i graduate i am going to my local technical college to get an associates degree in Information Technology, and as you know any network administrator is going to need the knowledge to protect his or her network from being attacked by outside predators on the world wide web. I have already achieved my first Cisco networking certificate along with a letter from the chairman and chief executive of Cisco at my High School which i am very proud of. My goal is to achieve as many certificates as possible for when i go look for jobs pertaining to the IT field a little bit later in life. This is why I feel that i am a valid candidate for this extremely useful course that i will definitely use for my future career in Information Technology.

Dear Pirillo,

I agree with you that someone should earn the right to gain access to such powerful knowledge, or else our world would be going mad.
I’m not going to come up with some last-minute, exaggerated, lame story about how I still sit on my parents’ computer, writing scripts and telling my MySpace friends about how I can make a script open a new window, or some stereotypical, little kid hacker wannabe reason for why I should try to win this. I’ll tell you my opinions and why I think I should be qualified.

It hit me this summer, before 8th grade, that I realized that being a hacker could really have some serious benefits. I wouldn’t plan on taking down people’s personal Facebook accounts or anything along those lines, or getting past security issues with programs, as that is all cracking. I’ve done my research on how to think like a hacker, how to behave, and I’ve considered my mindset to be a extremely close, if not the exact type a real hacker has.

Now what could a 14 year old need to be a hacker for? Well, just think of it this way; in this modern society, there are almost too many problems with computer security, flaws, etc. This new generation of teens is gaining pretty good knowledge about computers and technology over the older generations. If I were to learn about hacking at such a young age, it could result in great outcomes, and especially if I used the knowledge to get other fellow geeks inspired to become the same way. Why waste valuable knowledge on someone who’s already in there late 20’s, maybe even 30’s? The earlier we learn, the more advanced we’re going to get, along with modern technology around us. I’m not wanting to become a hacker to gain bragging rights, I’m doing it for the useful purpose. Freedom, leadership, and anti-strict authoritarianism. Also, I have the problem-solver personality. Hacker’s DEMAND problem solving personalities to pull through.
I’m not new to any of the underground cyber-rebel culture stuff, I’ve been involved in private torrenting previously, where that also requires you to give in order to get. I don’t want to go on and on about my past experience, but I can tell you, I’m not dumb, but I’m young and very aware. A good inspirational saying for me is
“To become the master;
see the master,
follow the master,
walk with the master,
see through the master,
become the master.”

Best of luck to the winner, if I do not get selected from the hundreds that may enter this. Knowledge is power, power is valuable, value is good.

I think I should win because first, I am a teen that is an enthusiastic about computers. I love almost everything about computer. I want to upgrade my computer when the newest technology comes out (even though I don’t have the money). I have written a couple of flash games and a couple of scripts for Mozilla. Even though I prefer to deal with hardware and see myself in a job building computers or some type of new advance technology. I would still need to learn some stuff about software and potentially hacking. I need this because I am serious on my goal of getting a job in the computer industry. Thank you and have a nice day Chris (or whoever reads and/or chooses the winner of this contest.)

I hope to eventually get a job computer-related but don’t really know where to start (and I can’t ask for help if I don’t know myself D: ) Yeah..Thats about it… This could help me know alot to get started I guess

I say I would deserve the books to learn to Hacker since I have just entered the computer world, and still need a well amount to learn. I actually see myself, using these books, learning major codes at a young age so by the time I actually go to college I can be really aware of what I’m doing and be quite ahead of fellow pupils. I do enjoy computers and hope to become a software/hardware engineer. I am already trying to build a computer (a little short on money but I’ll get there). I do wish to learn more about programming so if I start young, it will be like a second nature to me by the time I’m older. Also $3000 worth of knowledge, would really help since when it comes to knowledge It is like the most important thing in my family (plus we’ve been having some financial issues lately). I am quite the computer junkie, or at least getting more and more everyday, but when it comes to code…I’m not really one of the best guys to call. I extraordinarily wish to receive this offer as to help my future career in computer engineering. I hope to actually go to MIT for college and then really call myself a geek (lol). But seriously I really do wish to learn but I honestly have no way to learn besides wait for college, but again if I learn now it will be cake when I hit college. If I wanted to hack, well one my girlfriend will irritate me like crazy, and two would “be out of this world” fun.

So please at least consider me. If I hear from someone It sounds like a good idea, then that wold make my day.

Jas X)

hello chris i just got done watching your video on the hacker course give away and I said to myself it’s only my dream to go to school computer security /computer engineer and to become a ethical hacking. How I got so interested in computer security is by using things like facebook, Hotmail, Ubuntu and pretty much everything that had a password on it I was so fascinated with how they were constructed. I am also very fascinated with how things work when I see something I need to know how it works inside and out. So why I think that I deserve this I deserve this because I am willing to do what ever it takes to educate myself through whatever means is available. :)

For the lulz

“Remember that punctuation, usage, grammar, and spelling count – if you’re not willing to throw back a decent paragraph, what makes you think you’d be competent enough to handle such a course?”

- I wish more people kept that in mind.

I would like to learn the institutions of an ethical hacker because, well allow me start from the beginning…

The city I’m living in (and have been living in since the age of two) is full of people with new (and in most cases little) understanding to technology, the Web, and other new mediums expressed through expanded connections like the Internet. And being with this, wireless networks would pop up around 3 per week. With this, I saw many that lacked good, if any, protection. And the ones that did have protection had there secure connections set-up by the local Best Buy, people that were charging $100+ dollars to come to their house and set-up the things that I could and would do for FREE!

So ultimately, I would like to learn the ways and practices of an ethical hacker because I want to better my community and hopefully become an IT/Network Security Consultant in the future when I graduate college in 2013.

Thank you for reading and considering this, my submission.

I write my own scripts, so I can actually call me a Hacker. But the thing is, I don’t hack other peoples equipment without their permission, because if I did, I’ll be doing illegal hacking…

I find this very odd and interesting of you to do, however something that may be a very good opportunity. I have been trying to do some minor things like some basic stupid c++ programs, or batch files. But basically you are right, some code from other people. I would like to have this opportunity, so I could be more informed and able to create things at my own will without having to rely on other’s codes. I’m fairly young, but I love getting into these things at an early age because I feel it will help me in the future. I also love to learn and I guess that “hacking” is a subject that I have been very interested in and been trying to I guess learn and pursue for the past year or so. I find it as a good learning and sometimes rewarding. Knowledge is something I love too, especially on things I am quite interested in. Thank you.

I’m computer engineering student. maybe there are some guys better than me in their past, but I definitely can say I can use all of education I learn in real life problems.

This is an opportunity of a lifetime!! Nice P.. very nice!!

~wp

I’m doing my bachelors in computer applications and like you pointed out, I know many people a few from my class who proclaim themselves as Hackers.

Copy pasting a javascript in the address bar at orkut.com is nothing more than a silly behavior. Some people call it hacking.

Connecting to and using an unsecured Wi-Fi network is, well, just a double click. Some people call it hacking.

So many are available by publishers : Hacking Windows Vista, Hacking Google et al. All I can find are Tips & Tricks disguised as hacks. Some people call it hacking

Yet, I know some who claim themselves to be the REAL hacker and talk of DOS attacks – ping of death which I believe are obsolete. “Win98 days are over is what I’ll tell them”

With that said, I’ll like to learn hacking so that I can really DO things and not proclaim that I did it. The word hacking has lost its true meaning : the media also has some hand in it but then, I have the ability to make a difference by making an effective start in that direction.

Thanks Chris

This is an excellent opportunity, and thank you for granting it. I have been using computers for as long as I can remember (Commodore 64 was my first) and have grown up in the tech world. I have worked in IT for over 9 years now, with a Masters in MIS. However, I never got the opportunity to finish my concentration in security for that Masters. My goal was to go into the information security field and apply to work for the FBI or NSA. This would be a chance to get some training specifically in the security field and further me along that path. Thanks again.

if you really want to become an ethical hacker, then do not rely on having everything handed to you, most people who do know what they are doing had to learn everything themselves, so its best to find as much of the knowledge as you can, because its out there for everyone.

i don’t think i need the course but any extra information can and will be helpful.

I am a computer professional that is looking toward a career direction change. I have been working with computer security for quite a while but in a home-grown learning sort of way. I would love to move my career in this direction because it would be refreshing and challenging. Having a family I could not shell out the training costs to become a Certified Ethical hacker myself so this would be a terrific opportunity to move forward for me!

Hey Chris,
I am the glorified script kiddie you mentioned in your post. I’ve been tinkering with computers since my first DOS machine. Since then, I’ve taken them apart, put them together, built them from scratch and I’ve run a plethora of different OS’s looking for the right feel. After I got my head around the hardware side of things, I started focusing on the software side, and I love everything about it. I just recently switched careers in fact. Previously I have been a video-nut, but starting this Monday (Apr 27) I’ll be a help desk tech at a new company. I’m constantly looking for new information to grow my skill-set to make myself more marketable to companies, and for my general edification. Working on/with computers is more than a hobby to me, it’s a passion. (Just ask my wife how often she has to pry the laptop out of my hands when we go to bed at night.) I’ve always used other peoples scripts for things, and I’ve written a few of my own in AppleScript, BASH and BASIC, but I would absolutely geek out to be given the opportunity to increase my knowledge of hacking and security defense strategies with this Ethical Hacking course. I hope you take the time to read all the comments and I hope that my post will stick out in your mind.
Thanks,
RC

Being a hacker is a lifestyle, above and beyond writing code and far beyond some piece of paper that says you’re a hacker. Hacking is not simply breaking into stuff. Hacking encompasses the process of understanding a system, inside and out, and being able to manipulate the system in order to make it produce a desired effect. What we all hope, as a people at large, is that people with this kind of knowledge uses it for noble purposes and not for personal profit.

If you want to be a hacker, I think you must have a deep desire to understand how things work. I hope that you potential hackers out there also have the moral values (read: ethics) to do this for the right reasons – because you want to know systems how stuff works, not to have tools to give you some sort of reward at the expense of others.

I’m not holding my breath, but that’s my hope.

They build to destroy but I destroy to build.

I have been interested in “hacking” since the days of my first computer class and the TRS-80. Understanding the why and how of the computers/networks have always interested me. I think the true “hackers” are akin to the pioneers in the scientific world and great detectives. Perhaps not with the same contributions to overall society, but definitely in their mindset and desire to understand that which they are “hacking”.
I currently work as a self-employed consultant and am studying for my CISSP. A class such as this would be helpful in attaining the certification.
The feeling of accomplishment from creating a “hack” or solving/preventing an exploit is exhilarating. Recalling the first “script” I wrote on the TRS-80; the feeling is still the same today when I successfully assist a client with my skills and knowledge in solving an issue.

I would be honored to have a chance to get the Certified Ethical Hacker courses. I have recently come into a crossroads in my life. One of my very close friends recently passed away. He was also my supervisor at my former job. I am still employed at the same company as a computer technician so I was asked to help fill in at the old job while working my current job.

The strain of working two jobs coupled with the loss of a dear friend made me enter a period of soul searching. I questioned my current career path and asked myself where I wanted to go in life. I talked to my pastor, my supervisor, and my fiancee about possible options. I decided after a lot of tearful conversations that I wanted to push forward with certifications and make myself stand out in the IT world. I am finishing up my Network+ test in the next few weeks and will be ready to start on something new.

It’s funny that you are offering the training for this certification because I was talking about it just last night. I discovered the classes from our local training center and thought to myself “this is one of the coolest sounding certification titles ever,” Aside from the title I feel that my consulting job could really take off with these skills. Security is a huge priority for every company and having the tools to help them combat the risks will get me there.

I love the satisfaction that comes from helping people be more productive and secure with their computers and gadgets. I have the full support of my fiancee through this and with the training you could provide I would have a huge leap forward in pursuing my goals. I’ll get there either way and I really appreciate your consideration with this substantial gift. It will change someone’s life; I just hope I’m the lucky one to get it.

Thank you,
Thom

Hi Chris,

I think I should be given this book because I am a young, self-learning person who enjoys helping other people. My aim is to hack things, but for the benefit of others, not for monetary gain but to help others understand the issues in their security.

It would also inspire me, to continue advancing in my learning in computers and devices in general. It will also help me with my jobs and business when I grow older, and in the real world.

I wish to have this opportunity as I want to learn how others hack in order to prevent people being hacked against. I am currently in high school and I am the head of my C++ class and my Tech Support class; I wish to prove to myself that I have the ability to surpass my professors and this book would give me that extra edge.

I want to use the knowledge from this book to prevent and reverse the actions of hackers. I personally do not believe in black hat hacking (hacking for a personal benefit and damaging of others), but I believe in white hat hacking (testing systems to prevent black hats, also known as the good guy of hackers).

Currently it is told that the United States Pentagon is being successfully hacked. I believe that every bit of knowledge can help every person. I am not ignorant and I know that it will take time to learn, but I am willing to take that time aside for this opportunity.

Since I was about the age of three, I have been fascinated with computers and what made them do what they do. At the age of seven I have fixed computer around the neighborhood and continue to do so. My role model is a computer programmer and fixes computers as well, he is the one who has taught me most of what I know today. This is what I will become in the future as a profession, a computer programmer and designer.

As I wake in the morning and as I roll to get out of bed I find myself stumbling over (A+, C++, Security+, Network+, HTML Design, Flash 8 Action Script Bible) books that I have read through and have also applied to my everyday tech life. Some of these books I have one over more than once, but yet I search for more. Its not that I am not content or satisfied with what I have, if you were to ask me I am proud of where I am in my everyday technical life. The technical world to me is a life of its own. Everyday something changes and you seek to find out what is new. I find myself getting excited every time I hear the windows loading anthem, or even when I am preparing myself to fix a computer problem. I am deeply in love with computers, it is my passion, my life long dream to be a all around scientific, technical and top class computer guy. I search everyday online for new books and new ideas and even codes. Education and Knowledge is the key to success and I believe you can never get enough of it. I am from the Bahamas, I haven’t received the privileged to get any certifications as yet but I am working on that. I am currently working on my A+ and I can honestly say I see a future for me in the computer world. I am determined to be the best I can be and to push for greatness. This is why I believe I deserve the chance.

Hey chris,
My name is Sam ( as you can see up there ^). I know I’m not very good with developing or computer security. I am a 13 year old 8th grade student and I’ve just started developing. I would love to learn about computer security. The only problem is the crappy economy. My family can’t afford much right now but that’s where you come in. I probably don’t deserve this. I’m not a perfect person.
When I grow up I plan on pursuing a career in cyber security and possibly application development. I feel learning this will give me the tools I need to be successful when I grow up. If I learn this now, as technology advances it will be easier for me to figure out how to deal with problems and fix them. I would also like to learn this “ethical hacking” to keep my computer safe.
I have heard, “You can’t figure out the solution to a problem if you don’t know what the problem is”, with the tools from learning this I would be smarter with my computer and know what the threats were and how to protect myself from them. I really would like to learn that because if my computer is infected and I can’t fix it, it would be at least a year before I could get a new one. If I don’t win this prize, I thank you anyway for giving me a chance to win, you are a great “geek” and I’ll continue to watch your videos and read your tweets for as long as I can.
bye for now,
Sam

Why not? I’ve always been passionated by computers. Next year I would be in a network security school and I think this course can be quite a boost for my studies. Also, I’ll share my knowledge through my blog, because I think it’s important to share, and even maybe one day i’ll give away some ethical hacker course to my readers ;-). So Chris if you read this think about my career and how grateful I’ll be if you offer me these books.

Because I am a 15 year old A* student, that wants to go into computer programming when he is older. I am currently a technology blogger, and I just want an opportunity to change the annoying and hard to use security software currently available. Who knows maybe one day you yourself may be using security software created, or contributed by myself.

I currently have a good understanding of web design, having created multiple websites for myself, and local businesses, and I have created a whole load of multi-layered programs using only VS2008, that are used at my school – seriously they are! I have watched 1000s of hours of training videos and am currently in the middle of the book, “C++ for Dummies” and a VTM series from 3D Buzz on C++.

This would be really great for me, as it would give me a head start, and allow me to develop my knowledge of computer protection and malicious software prevention, possibly leading to a different outlook on security software development, and a better piece of software for your fine self.

Thanks,

-Tom

If i was given this opputunity i would use every last penny’s worth of it. I have the time to learn, the ability to learn, which some people don’t have.

With the infomation i would be given, i could write a piece of software that makes every computer ultra-safe!! Like the original 1st copy of Ultimate Spiderman, well, maybe not that much.

So Chris Pirillo, with only one “r” in the surname which i didn’t realise until a couple of months ago, choose me out of the hundreds of people who respond to this Blog, because you won’t regret it.

I should be the the one getting the course beacuse i love computer and i wont to work in a computer department i wont to learn more about computer and security.

thank you

Yannick Labelle

Well i think i should get the course because i have always wanted to be a “hacker” and i relay don’t have the money to afford the course… if i did i would had bought it but ye i don’t…
so if i am one that gets this it would be the best ever happen to me in this cruel world.

and no i don’t call me a hacker because i don’t KNOW how to make a program yet maybe after this course or else i must find a cheaper way.

but anyway thanks for reading

becuz ummmmmm im a 1337 HAXOR and i lik 2 pwn noobs @ wow and i nedd 2 hax,

No just kidding, I’m not entering I just felt like leaving a comment with terrible PUGS.
Great giveaway idea Chris, keep up the amazing work!

Since I was very young I had a fascination with computers; I always wanted to know what made them work and how people could work to make them better. The rest of my family? As far as they know its the outlet in the wall that does everything. I am definitely the technology guy in my family.

This course would be perfect for me. I plan on going into some sort of technology related work force, and this course would be a great jump start for me, along with everyone else who is leaving comments. Education is very valuable to me, and I love learning new things. I haven’t really studied a lot about hacking or anything to do with computer security, but now that you’ve mentioned this whole hacker course I’ve been doing some research and now I think that a job in computer security would be perfect for me. I love the idea that I could help make the internet and the computing world a more secure place.

Hi, my name is George and I’m *cough* years old (still a minor) and i am highly considering a future in computer engineering. when i get to high school i intend to take two classes, “Computing in the modern world” and “Computer Applications”. I am going to take these to jump start my career in computer engineering and your course to hacking would greatly benefit my future career.
Thank you for your time, Sincerely
George

I think I should receive the books on hacking. I’m 14 right now and when I grow I play to be a computer programmer. I would like the books to add to my knowledge on my computers. I don’t like to brag but I would say I’m really good with computers for a kid my age. I really like to learn. If I receive these books I plan to learn everything in them so I could increase my knowledge. I’m sure that this could also help in with my programming scripts. I am learning programming off of books and the internet. I know C++ and currently am on Java. I know I will not be able to afford it, but it will be nice to know how to secure a computer. It will be nice to know how to secure a computer from malicious attack. I would like to make my owns codes other then relying on somebody else’s.
I probably will not win because of the greats reasons posted by everyone else, but I still hope you pick me.
Thanks,
-Gurjit

I would love the oppotunity to take this course. I currently create desktop software programming in c# and soon c++. I currently also know html, css and php. I love ‘hacking’ my devices e.g. phone, computers, PS3 and DS.

I would like to soon work in the computer security industry e.g. creating anti-virus software, firewalls and working with networks.

Please Chris this would mean a lot to me And I have watched your show for years. :-)

Hey Chris, I would love to take this course because this is exactly what I will need to know for my future career. I have a work space in Microsoft for next year as work experience. I think this would help me in my future career and help me understand more about the computer industry.
As I am young I am open to new experiences and am willing to comit myself to this course, aswell as hope to recieve the oppertunity to recieve this course for free.
So, Chris I hope you read this and think deaply on choosing me to recieve this opportunity in my life, as I think I will benifit from this greatly.

Sincerly
David Dooley (a.k.a Warlock)

Hello, Chris. I would like these books so I could become a 1337 h4×0r and 0wn all of the n00bs in every game I play. Thanks.

Hey Chris.

I would love the opportunity to become a Certified Ethical Hacker and I believe that it would greatly help me because I want to do something within this sector. I am very dedicated in everything I do, I always try my best. If you gave me this opportunity it would certainly not be wasted. I am still a school student at the moment and i’m very interested in anything to do with technology this is why your video appealed to me. I may be young but I ask that you do not hold this against me in anyway, which some people tend to do. My paragraph isn’t the longest one here but I think it’s of a good enough quaility.

If you do give me this chance I would be very grateful.

Thank You

I think I should be given this course because my main business I built is fixing peoples virus/spyware issues and to fix their PC’s to make them clean.

I have been in Community College taking several different computer courses, but I have always wanted to find out how things work with Mal-ware, but haven’t been able to find any courses around the lines for security.

I feel like computers are a way for me to work for myself and any information I can get is good information and finding out how to be an Ethical Hacker would be a great experience for me and it would help me and my knowledge to push me toward my goal of working for myself and making a good living in computer security.

Thanks for the possible opportunity.

I really need some kind of job no matter what that would be because i can barely afford anything for me or my son.

Hey Chris,

I’ve always wanted to learn about various forms of internet security, not just the ‘breaking and entering’ part, but the whole aspect of security. Of course I would love to learn about hacking, but I’m much more intrested in how programmed security programs (Norton, AVG, Avast!, or your basic gaming program) continue to keep various users from hacking, or using pieces of malicious programmed material.

I also believe that this opportunity will help me in the future, because I’m determined to become a programmer when I’m older, and a course in how to ‘break’ this programs would help me produce more secure and ‘hack proof’ code.

Many books in the past have helped me a ton, such as a few basic gaming C++ books, HTML, PHP, and CSS books, and various action script, and I believe these books ethnical hacking books could further my knowledge in the technology world such as other books have done before.

Thanks for reading,

Sam Earle

Chris,
I would Love to have the opportunity to win that course, How to become an ethical hacker.
I have worked in an IT Dept for 11 years, I would love to learn just a small part of what you know Chris, I would love to sit with you and have you show me some of the computer tricks you know, But this would be the next best thing, I hope I win. Thank you Chris. Larry Jarvis

I work for a very big technology company (but I’ll refrain from stating the name; I’ll just say we put stuff in space) in the Information technology field. I have been employed, graciously, for the past 6 years and have been slowly climbing the career latter. I’m am currently studying to become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) to further my career development and increase my skill set and cognitive capacity; in fact my final class is tonight. It’s been an overwhelming and enlightening experience all the way. The only downside is the CISSP is very broad and very non-vendor specific. It would be great to learn more detailed, tailored security prevention tactics and methods; plus it would something unique to add to my resume. I am very interested and await to who the selected “poster” is. This is a great opportunity for anyone to learn the skills necessary to be an security professional. Last I’d like to leave some shameless praise to Chris. Thanks for the opportunity dude. You are my hero.

The reason I deserve the Ethical Hacking course/ book bundle is that I am passionateabout computer security. I feel that the future will hold many problems related to computer security and that it is why it is very important to start offering these courses to a wider demographic.

I am 17 years old studing computing and has resently applied to university. I have applied and been granted a conditional offer at Northumbria Unviverisity on their Ethical Hacking course. The only problem is that it is the only course of that nature throughout the my country.
Some months ago I began to learn JAVA and other object oriented programming languages. I am trying my best at school to guarantee a place on the course. But with this extra tuition I will be able focus and understand the subject, as a whole, a lot better.
I have been fascinated with technology from a young age but only a year ago I found out about the world of Ethical Hacking. It is my calling and i wish to pursue it as far as possible to one day make a dream in to a dream career.

As a computer geek and a senior about to graduate high school, an oppertunity such as this could give me a future that I would be happy to have. I have taken many classes in my past that have made me confortable with computers and networking.

Among my favorite classes were Computer Networking Systems and Typing II. I feel so comfortable around a computer, and cannot imagine my life without one.

When my friends have a computer problem, it became habit to come to me first. Doing such simple tasks for my friends, and in some cases family, always made me smile.

I await something to challenge me, and I believe that a coarse in ethical hacking could give me that challenge.

Since childhood (specifically when I was 4 years old) I always had a passion for computers. At age of 12, I started learning programming (pascal) and have been coding since then. I’m now 16 and I code in various languages including c++, php, python and others. I have knowledge over many types of security vulnerabilities (web exploitation, network security etc.) and I mainly try and patch them instead of exploiting them.
Always working on my own, I succeeded to surpass my school IT teachers in knowledge at programming and computers in general and have got the respect of everyone that I know. Computers is my life, my passion, the reason why I wake up in the morning and why I live (of course another reason has been added recently… (L)) and I believe that I should be given this opportunity at least for the fact that I will not forget everything that I’ll learn from it but instead it will give me the motivation to go further in my carrier.
Thank you for your time.

The reason I want to have this course for free is because, I want to help myself and others understand about hacking and security, take this education back to Lebanon and teach the people there how to protect their Internet Cafes, and because my career and education will consist on this sort of study(Computer Programming).

Thanks in Advance.

Chris,
I have demonstrated overtime that I am highly interested in computer security. I have been a web developer for 5 years now and I have been learning a lot about computer security since our organization has been attacked numerous times by malicious internet users and we are well aware that we posses some serious security risks that we are not able to resolve successfully. I work for a health quality improvement non-profit organization that helps thousands of clinics and hospitals, from across the country, improve their standards for providing healthcare. This ensures that when you and your audience, for example, go to a hospital for a minor injury, you will be able to receive proper treatment and avoid medical complications from hospital infections, wrongly administered medication and improper patient care.
This would certainly help our organization tremendously since with the current economic downturn we cannot afford to hire a security expert.
The latest tool that I had to learn to use is WebGoat in order to detect vulnerabilities that exist on some of our legacy web applications.

I think the Certified Ethical Hacker certification would help this very beneficial non-profit organization. I have also worked for the state governmental (Criminal Justice) and I can tell you that neither state gov. nor non-profits have the budget that corporations have in order to afford hiring a security experts. For the years to come, it looks like I will be working for non-profits and state government since it is my desire to help this nation’s citizens.

Thank you for taking the time to consider me for this certification! I highly appreciate your shows and I have learned a lot from you. :)

My best regards,
Austinite

I Live in a small town and have many people that depend on myself to relive them of their Pc ailments. Friends/family Call me 24/7 for phone support as well as in home. I am always looking to expand my knowledge of computers as well as educate people as much as I can about computers how useful a tool they are and they are not to be feared. My ultimate goal is to Start a non-profit computer donation Program. People Donate their out-dated/broken machines and I fix them and donate them to kids as well as other disabled/less advantaged persons Also To start a after school program to help repair computers giving kids great hands on experience as well as keeping them out of trouble. Thus eliminating e-waste, and getting the coming generations started for their futures whilst having fun. I Call It Computers for The Future. This coarse Would Greatly Help me realize my dream and help countless people.
Thank You For Your Time

After reading the comments above I realize that I have some good competition. I am currently enrolled in courses to gain my BS in Game Software development. So some may ask, why would I want to have this course as well? As you said in your video, “Knowledge is power.” I have some knowledge in code and am always eager to learn new things about computers. I have watched your You Tube videos for some time and always enjoy the knowledge that you share with our fellow geeks. I know that the BS that I am going to obtain in about a year or so will get me into the gaming industry but I would like to have a fail safe if I do not make it into the filed. I will have the technical knowledge of a software engineer and adding this to my belt, so to speak, will benefit me in the long run. If all else fails with my endeavor to get into the game industry, I can always be a consultant. Who knows maybe this will better my chances. Needles to say, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity. In closing I thank you for your time and leave you with this quote.

Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

Hey Chris,

I have just recently watched your video about hacking. I have been a hacker ever since I got my own computer and really got to see a full perspective on computers, programming and hacking of course. I have been very interested in hacking many things, such as, websites, servers, networks and computers! I know I can handle this because I know a lot about computers and I know I will be very interested. Also I think I can handle the knowing of the books because I have experience with programming languages ever since I was six. I think I deserve this more than any one else is because, well first my family does not have much money, and certainly not to spend on something like this. If i got the choice between a mac pro and this, I would definitely pick this because to me this is more valuable to me that due to I am interested about learning more about hacking and computer technology. I will be very grateful if you pick me because my family does not have much money and I will never be able to afford something like this, so please pick me.

Hey Chris, I believe I am a perfect candidate for this chance at education. I am currently a senior in High School and plan to go to the University of Central Florida to major in Computer Science. Already I am studying for various certifications that will greatly help myself in the professional world as well as gain experience by helping my school manage their network. I’ve also taught myself C as well as Python and have used my knowledge to manage and secure my own home network. So given the chance to excel in what I love and be offered the opportunity to become a Certified Ethical Hacker will be an honor and a privilege from the man I watched as a kid on Call For Help.

Cheers Chris!

I believe I should get the course due to it giving me the opportunity to make a hobby into something more, it would give me that little something extra to put on a CV. Through completing the course it would demonstrate commitment and determination, thus enabling me to have more prospects in the future.

Despite me studying a business degree at university I would like to create a business involving computers and technology but more specifically aimed at computer security. This opportunity would help me along this path and basically complete a potential milestone in wanting to reach this goal.

In short it would greatly benefit my future and my ambition. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in this area so thank you for making this a worth while, career enhancing giveaway!!

The reason I wanna become a hacker is because i like chesse LOL

I think, that if I learn hacking and do it, it’s one of the best way to show, which problems companies have, and make it better. (Of course if I tell them what I did.)

I think that i should get this “course” because I am very intelligent and I spend a good amount of my time on the computer. I am quite young but for my age I am a hard worker.I would NEVER be able to get this course on my own at my age so IF I did get this course i would be very thankful.

-NinjaCowProduction

How’s it going Chris,

I’ve always tried to get a head start on everything. I’m thirteen and I’m already getting into programming and networking but “hacking” has always been my one true focus. Ever since I knew there was such a job, I’ve always wanted to work in the internet security business and I’ve done everything to my abilities to help hone my skills, but money has always been an issue considering my parents have never supported my desire to get into the computer business and are just a pair of those close minded people who think the definition of a hacker is someone who live’s in their parent’s basement and creates viruses for their own sick enjoyment. I on the other hand, see hackers as not people to be feared but respected. If it weren’t for hackers, computers would never evolve or get stronger because there would be no reason to. So me being alone at this point have had to take matters into my own hands and teach my self most things. I’ve spent days just going through every last nook and cranny of Windows XP. I taught myself how to hack into my school’s network and change all of the admin account passwords. (And then immediately changing them back of course.) I plan to go to collage for computer programming someday if I can ever afford it or somehow manage to get a scholarship. So please Chris, even if you don’t pick me to receive this set of books for whatever reason such as my age or just because you don’t see me fit, pick someone who will use that knowledge to move forward make the cyber world a safer place for the rest of us, and being the geek that you are, I’m sure you will. =)

Some find it frivolous that I spend hours each day teaching myself C++, but I find it enjoyable. I’m eighteen years old and am about to go off to my first year of college this fall for a career in Psychology; but at the same time I asked my admissions counselor if I could take computer science classes on the side. I wouldn’t say that learning how to program is a hobby, because it’s hard work, but that’s what I turned it into. Coming home from school every day and cramming as much information as I can into my brain about computers, software, hardware, programming, and new technology from A to Z is what I enjoy.

I always wanted to learn how to hack just so I would know who or what is trying to access my computer. I love to help out my friends and family with their computer problems, but every now and then I find myself at a loss on how to solve the issue. I go on Google to see if anybody else is having the same problem and scroll through the many forums on computer assistance. This and reading books and manuals on computers and programming are how I learn.

I’ve never taken an in depth course on computer programming or “hacking,” I’ve just been self taught. I remember the day when my family first received a Windows 95. My mom spent countless hours trying to figure everything out. When she finally got too frustrated to deal with it I would log on and have my way with it; and I would be able to run programs and go online with ease. My mother never understood how I knew how to do everything or run a computer when I’ve never been taught, but that’s just how it’s always been with me. Never took a course or class, but I have been learning as much as I can through much research and practice.

I would be eternally grateful if I received those “massive volumes” of information. They would be my prized possession if they were given to me and I would delve among the pages for an endless time. I’m positive there are many others who would just as much enjoy receiving those books; but to whomever they’re given to I hope he or she uses them to their full potential and gains as much knowledge as one can from them.

Thank you for giving us all the opportunity to obtain such a gift. Just like everyone else, I hope I’m chosen.

Hello,
My name is Jed and this is why I think I should take this course. The reason I would like to take this course is because everything with computers interests me. I find myself reading all of the manuals and instructions as well. But one thing about computers that really interests me is hacking. I am currently in high school and taking an advanced programming class where we use Microsoft Visual Basic. I really enjoy it and it is my favorite class. And when I graduate I will hopefully continue to a career in the computer job field. So I thought I should leave a comment because I thought it would be the coolest things to take a course on hacking to protect info and all the other possibilities. So I am just going to leave this comment because if this would cost me that much money, I wouldn’t be taking it.

I think that this course would motivate me even more into the computer careers and be a great gain of information.

Thanks for your time, whoever reads this,
Jed

I would love this chance because I would love to further my learning in the field of computers. I am 16 years old and have won a state wide competiton in computer science last year and plan to go to ITT tech after high school. This would be a great start because I am going to have to personally pay for any form of additional education after high school and aswell as take some of my spare time.

I think you should choose me because im 20 years old and have an interest in computers. I always had an interest in computers since i was a little child. Ive self taught myself basic computer programing with a software called Ruby. I have taken the initiative to learn something extensive such as computer programing but, i always wanted to try hacking. If i had the knowledge and skills of a hacker it would only be of good use. I attend John Jay University in New York City. Its a Criminal Justice University where my major is Forensic Psychology. Ethics isnt an issue or i wouldnt be attending this University. Although it was my second choice. My first choice was City Tech which my major was going to be Computer Sciences but, i decided to go to this college instead.
Therefore, i believe i have the ethics. I have the determination considering i spent alot of time learning basic computer programing. Hacking just seems like another step for me to do something with technology which i love so much. And i would be willing to keep updates on my progress. I also believe i am of age and have the maturity to possess such a skill. You would be getting my foot in the door for something ive been wanting to learn but didnt know how to start. I can asure that once i know where and how to start i would pursue this dream ive had. This skill would definatly benefit me in my University too. Having a background and skill in hacking and counter measures. It would broaden my oppurtunities in in Criminal Justice world.

I think i should get the books because i have written simple scripts on youtube and such and i would like to expand my computing.

I would like to work for Apple some day and I would like to help security on a mac and make it still bug free. I know i wont get the books but just putting that stuff out there!

I am a nerd BTW!

Dear Mr. Chris Pirillo,

I think I deserve to take the course to become a “Certified Ethical Hacker” because my career will focus strongly on computer programing and software engineering. I’ve been using computers for over 9 years (since age 9),I’m in college now and I’ve always been fascinated with computers. On my spare time I usually go on YouTube just to learn new “computer tricks”. I literally spend hours looking up tutorials of different programs, mostly Photoshop and others that I find interesting. It’s like can get enough of learning about how things work. In my house I’m the “techno-geek” because my parents are usually clueless on how some things work when it comes to technology. I would like to learn more but I’m very limited because it cost so much for courses like this.I enjoy learning about computer security especially since in the future almost everything is going to rely on computers and knowing how to prevent identity theft and other security issues will be a good thing to know. This is why I should get this course.

Sincerely Yours,

Jose B.

I believe that I should win the Ethical Hacking course because even a 13, I am already realizing how unsecured computers exist in the world. Ethical Hacking is an opportunity to reverse those insecurities. Working backwards to create new and innovative data encryptions is just the beginning.

I too realize that knowledge is power, and also believe that the younger the recipient of the aforementioned knowledge, the more powerfully it can be used. For example, I have a whole life ahead of me. Why not be able to use such a treasure trove of knowledge at a young age? In this way, I could be more prepared for college and my career, which is very likely to be IT/Network Security.

I would also like to remind the recipient of this wonderful opportunity that though they have the knowledge to ethically hack computers, the skill should be used carefully. Knowing the laws against hacking, and in turn knowing the penalties for breaking these laws is something that the lucky person to receive this course should investigate.

So in conclusion, I believe I should be chosen to receive this course because unlike some of the more elderly geeks on this site, I have my entire life to put this knowledge to good use. Secondly, I have already investigated the laws against hacking in my area, and would never use this knowledge in a way that could be frowned upon by Law Enforcement. Lastly, this course would not go to waste. I plan to major in IT/Networking, and minor in Web Development at a good college when the time comes.

E Ya Later!
Sam

Dear Chris,

I would like to win this free course “scholarship” per say; my reasons for this are the following. I am a 14 year old guy who is needing a job. My town is full of teenagers and all the minimal requirement jobs are already taken. I have always loved computers since a very young age but haven’t ever really had the time to buy books and such to learn from. I know this may seem like a bit of a long shot for you, but I love technology and am willing to do nearly anything to win this. I love to learn and would certainly be able to make the short amount of time I have after school to learn from these books. I know the field of technology is rapidly advancing and I think giving a young person an opportunity like this would be a smart move not only for you, but for the future.

Thanks for reading this submission,
Dylan

Why should I be considered to be given this chance of a lifetime to take an educational “Ethical Hacker” course? Many reasons exist as to why I am the ideal candidate for this chance. Foremost it is proven over and over that a younger mind is able to absorb and retain more information thrown at it at once. Being a 16 year-old I feel I have an advantage in retaining this information compared to older men and women whose brain has finished forming by the age of 21. Being a teen in today’s society means you already have extensive knowledge of the computer. Being of the first generation to grow up with computers we are constantly on them and learning new things about the workings of them. Lastly I have always been aiming for a field in which I can help many. Ever since I was a child I thought about joining the military. I now have thoughts about joining the military with an MOS in the computer field.
It is a well known fact that until the age of 21 the human brain is still forming and is at the point at which you can attain the majority of the knowledge that you will take with you through your entire life. You learn to speak at a very young age and that is something you never forget. “Things that you learn as an adult seem to become faded after time,” stated Dr Norman Santo Domingo. Unfortunately many teens these days destroy their minds and loose this wonderful chance at education and knowledge retention by participating in unsafe activities such as drinking and smoking. Although I cannot say first it can’t be as easy or efficient t learn if you are under the influence of a controlled substance. The young mind is an amazing thing and you should take advantage of it while you can.
Secondly, computers have only given rise in this past generation. Growing up I have always been on a computer. Computers become a part of our everyday lives. Being around computers all the time at home, at school, and even on the go you begin to explore them and have the urge to learn something new about them every day. Often I have questions when doing something new, like the other day for example I wanted to learn more about DOS attacks and I was unable to ask anyone in my house because no one in my household is familiar with the computer. I finally obtained the knowledge I was seeking on my own through the aid of the internet and Google. Learning isn’t always someone telling you how to do something but actually going out and seeking the answer.
In addition to the wanting to obtain this education for personal acceleration I want to use it to do something better I want to be a part of something. I hope that if I am considered for this course I will be able to use the information that I am given and put it to good use. If I do get chosen to go through this course I will try my best to obtain and retain the most I can. I will also seek further information and learn as much as I can on the topic and do something with it. I hope to work for a privately own organization or a section of the government aiming to stop unethical hacking in its footsteps. I do not believe in using knowledge to hurt people, why not instead turn it into something good.
In conclusion, I believe I would be a great candidate to be put through this very educational program.

Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity.
Scott Mayer

What a dream this would be! This is something ive been loving since a child, seeing my uncle very much into computers. Im at that age where I can learn a lot and then go on to a long career in this field.

As we all know the internet is a dangerous place and security is needed. The people who are securing the “area” designated for them need to have a good head on their shoulders and be able to work within a group. I have that. Im learning HTML and Java right now to prepare myself.

This would be a great opportunity for someone who has gone through a lot lately and help me reach my goals. I would appreciate being considered for this great chance. I have already been trying to take the necessary steps to further my education in computer sciences but this would be awesome. A lot of Americans have a good shot at doing this on their own while its harder for me and would be more appreciated by me. Im asking you to give me that start.

Thanks for the opportunity,

TJ

Why anybody should become a hacker is a debatable question, ethical hacking is still hacking none the less in some peoples eyes, not mine though! I believe I should become a hacker not just because it is what I was born to do, it is because it is my life, when I see a electrical item, like a iphone, the first thing that comes into my mind is not, “OHH, lets download the weather map to check tomorrows weather” no, for me, it is “Hack It!!!” This word just screams at me every time, for an iphone, bush the boundries, extend the limits, that is what I think hacking is all about, no running some cracked software, not kiddie scripting, but extending the limits and pushing the boundries of normal life and electronics, a hacker does not think about what a item can do, a hacker thinks about what it can MAKE the item do” its all about pushing limits, not to far though. Now, more to the point, I think I should win the course as, I have everything I need, I am 12, and I know what you are thinking, “This kid probably still does not even know how to turn on a computer” but know, my friends respect as they think if they annoy me, I could hack their computers. Right now I believe I have potential, but to show full potential, one must use it in the right situations, So that is why I should get to go. P.S I love your vids

I am soon to be a college graduate from a private school where I have been studying animation and design technology and software. Computers are becoming more involved in the creative process and they make it easier to manage tasks and store a wide range of projects.

Lately I have been learning more about advertizing for myself as a freelancing digital artist. I can see the great advantages of possessing the knowledge of designing, constructing and maintaining a self-promoting website.
This information in the Hacker educational package would be a great start to developing the ability to ensure the security of my established digital properties would be a constant valuable asset to have in my skill set. It would also help me become more technologically self-sufficient which would be rewarding in .

I have acquired a lot of raw knowledge throughout my college attendance but I feel that I still could use more educational information to broaden my employment opportunities. Technology is a factor incorporated into nearly every aspect of professional life, regardless of category.
I think security skills in computer technology are extremely valuable and will continue to be for decades and centuries to come. I am always surprised to find so much information that is readily available if you try to look for it, To my surprise I came across this educational opportunity and could not pass it up.

If there is one thing college has taught me it is that when there is and opportunity in interest of personal knowledge, you should always go for it.
I think this opportunity is one that anyone could benefit from greatly in this increasingly technological world. Opportunities should not be missed and especially one that grants personal growth both for professional purpose and personal challenge.

Thanks for this awesome chance

I like the show btw (I’m a new member/ viewer). Reminds me of all my tech head friends lol. Can’t wait to see the results of the contest!

I would love the chance to be a “hacker.” There is no way I can afford to pay $3000 were I’m working at Taco Bell. I’m trying to get in to collage but having no luck with grants and such. I always loved computers and would love the chance to learn how to hack them, (just mine own, lol) Anything to do with computers I love. Anyway thank you for your time
Benjamin Tarr
(thetarrman on your chat)

I forgot to include in my essay that I am very “tech savvy”. I run a small business in my town of Toms River, New Jersey called “Scott’s Computer Repair” when I do computer repairs for people at low to no cost (Sometimes based on the barter system). I believe that most computer repair stores around here are overpriced. Everyone should be able to have a good working computer at a fair price. Just because you know how to fix something that someone does not, you should not try to make a fortune out of it.

Thank you again.
Scott Mayer

I think I should receive this course because I am still young and I’m looking for this type of skill to be involved in my career path. I look forward to working for a computer company writing codes and script.
I would deeply love to become fluent in this language.

I’ve been using computers since some time and I’m on a computer every chance I get. When I see a computer having problems, I’m interested and I love to help out. Learning this knowledge would greatly enhance my life and further my career opportunities in this troubling economy.

First of all we need to define “Ethical” because is worthless to know how to be a hacker without knowing the definition of which is like a contradiction. In a simple way, being ethical means that it is an obligation to create the general good and do not harm anyone. Being this said, hacker means a person who breaks into a computer, which practically means a way to provide information from someone who we want to cause harm. The union of these two words (ethical hacker), is the meaning of breaking into a computer for their own harm, which is going to make see vulnerabilities in their systems.

Being an Ethical Hacker is really important for big companies or the government, everyone wants to seek information, but only some reach it. Many people will want to win this prize to become only a “Hacker” who is going to use it for their own good harming others. Obviously the whole point is to become an Ethical Hacker, but many of the people in here do not care or do not know and they only want to break into other’s computers.

As myself, I’m a sophomore Computer Science student at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and as a Computer Scientist I took two classes of ethics, Philosophical Ethics, and Advanced Ethics which are required for future job relationships in engineering. I think I’m the indicated to get certified in this field, not because I just love computers (even though I do), but because of my analytical logic and my superiority to overcome my limits. As an example, I came from a very poor family and English is my second language, now I’ve become a person of deep thinking and good values. I really think I’m the appropriate to know more information about Ethical Hacking and help other’s on their security system. Many times I get asked what are the best anti-viruses or the best anti-spywares, certainly I just tell them to the best free software I know, but the thing is that I care for them and their safety, more importantly, I care.

(Sorry in advance for the length of this post, but I am very passionate about this offer and couldn’t help myself!)

I believe that I would be a great candidate for this offer. I have always contemplated purchasing a book or course to learn about hacking and security. Honestly, I feel I am already a hacker. The definition of a hacker is: “a computer enthusiast” (Dictionary.com, 2009) or “an expert at programming and solving problems with a computer” (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, 2009). By denotation, I feel I already possess a thinking form close to that of a hacker’s. The Certified Ethical Hackers (CEH) course focuses more on a connotation of hackers, crackers, which is a field I am not well versed in.

I’d say I am a fairly well-rounded computer enthusiast. In the hardware field, I have built my own computers from scrap parts and have competed at the state level in “Computer Problem Solving” for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Through countless hours of solving PC problems I have acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to be an A+ certified technician. On the other hand, programming is my favorite field in computers. I have been programming since age twelve, when I first discovered the hobby that pushes my critical thinking and problem solving skills to the test. I have competed in FBLA for “Desktop Application Programming” for two years and have placed in the top ten in the state both years. Both instances my program didn’t run (due to annoying DLL compatibilities with VB6 and newer versions of Microsoft Windows) and I still made the top ten, showing that my code layout and usage was enough to qualify myself (the running portion is 30% of the overall grade, in which I received a 0%). I have also competed in a local Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) competition for the past two years and my team, with only two programmers as opposed to the usual four, scored in the top ten both years. I have also fiddled around with operating system development, producing a simple “Hello, World!” OS. I have also completed web development projects for local institutions and I am experienced in multiple web scripting languages.

Most importantly, I believe I have the necessary knowledge and characteristic set to take advantage of such a course. I prefer abstract mathematics and logic problems over concrete equations. I definitely feel I have the dedication and intelligence to undertake this course and I have proved so on many levels – from being an A+ high school student (soon to be graduating as valedictorian), to completing more than eighteen college credits from three different institutions, to achieving the Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America. My most rewarding classes were in architecture when I enrolled in two courses at Cornell University last summer. Architecture and computer science both require the same set of thinking skills, one being advanced function management. I hope this course will help strengthen my skills as my previous ones have.

As you can see, I have immersed myself in the computers field for a large portion of my life. However, I have not yet had the privilege to study computer security and hacking. I feel this training would be a welcomed addition to my repertoire of skills because such a course would definitely add much more rounding to my education.

Good Morning.

With regards to the course, it seems an interesting subject. Now I enjoy learning, whatever the subject. I am a knowledge sponge, maybe my plans are full of holes, but still useful.

With regards to hacking, I have done a bit, however nothing too technical “yet”, And I certainly wouldnt call myself a geek! BUT, I do work for a leading telecomunications provider in Telephone and internet providings here in the United Kingdom (Talktalk)

With hacking I beleive that it shoult not be against the small people, the individuals that hackers attack, however corporations, being 1, more of a challenge, and 2, able to take losses more that the small business or individual can.

I would only ever try truly hacking IF wrong was done…

I have made simple bugs and hacking programmes, however these are probally the simplest of simple things out there. EG, keyloggers. But everyone has to start somewhere right, not everyone can blurt out the national anthem in ASCII can they? (I dont even know the national anthem of England)

One thing I will mention as well, when I use my skills for hacking, I will also use them to create better ‘firewall’ programmes, to stop other hackers getting onto my PC / network etc. Hopefully creating a new generation of hackers and protection systems.

If you want, drop me a line on my Youtube channel, I normally get back within a day or two.

Blessed Be

Dear Chris,
I have been a long time computer junkie i am a teen that is currently in the process of learning BASIC and JAVA coding and would really like to learn more and i hope to go into a field that involves security ( well im an air force kid security has been my life while living on bases) and computers would love it to involve both and i think this would be the BEST opportunity for having a more robust resume for a first time career in the field. thank you for this wonderful opportunity and thank you for the consent entertainment and learning experience from your videos

Thank you and Will E- ya later

Dear Chris,

Why do I want this opportunity of a lifetime? Its simple, ever day I spend waiting for one big break to come my way to get started with the “hacking” generation and business. This is the opportunity I have been looking for. I am an inspired computer geek and I got into computer at the age of about 3 when my only way of showing my affection for computers was pointing and shouting, “CPU!” Obviously I have evolved in my expression for my love of computers. I have began with the very basics including command prompt so I am not considered the slightest “hacker.”

I have a drive for two things. To teach others my basic knowledge, and to one day join in the profession of computer security. My fellow school students have turned into my student as I teach them some password protection skills. Almost every time they reply, “Yes I am a hacker!” I simply reply… “you are not…” This is a chance that will help me actually be considered somebody who knows a lot about what they love.

If you were to grant me the opportunity to take the first small step in the pursuit of becoming a professional in the computer security business I would be unbelievably thankful! I am thirteen years old and many of my elders remind me it is best to start something you are passionate about while you are young. This contest is my chance. Even the smallest bit of knowledge gained I know I will enjoy. I would be extremely grateful for you to give me this chance and accept my application. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read my entry! Thanks again!

Your Friend,
Eric S.

I always been wondering what im going to do with my life.My friends always tell me that im good at technology.Thats when i taught of something. To be hacker and programer. I know how to hack but not that much. When i saw your video i told my self lets give it a shot.I know how to hack because of my friends they talk in school and i learn a little from them because they have giant books of how to hack. I once told one of them how much did those books cost.Im in middle school and i can afford to buy them but its to much money.I want to learn how to hack and be a professional hacker to do something with my life. Thats my dream to be a professional hacker and programer. PLEASE CHOOSE ME CHRIS THANKS

hey Chris,

I would love to have the chance at this course due to the fact that I would like to work with computers and this would give me that shot. I wish everyone luck at this opportunity.

Well, where should I start? when I was 13 i had held my very first pc. I had no idea what exactly made a pc work, to me it was something of an enigma. It intruiged me that something so small could create something so beautiful so to quench my thirst I began by setting out on a little quest of sorts to the recycling yard close to my estate, I opened them up and I was amazed with what I found. the architecture of the pc was so articulate in design I was disappointed I couldnt bring them all home with me, but that didnt stop me from trying, I often had my room filled with old parts of pcs. Once i walked two miles with an old pc that I had found buried in the pile, I think if memory serves me correctly it was a windows 2000 machine, it weighed a tonne and when I got it home even though my arms felt like they were fit to fall off i couldn’t find a screwdriver fast enough to open up this piece of beauty,I would gaze at these beautiful parts for hours and imagine the people that made this technology what it is today, to think all these parts play a role assisting each other just made me feel mesmerized, But i wanted to know exactly what made the hardware run. I had no idea that the hardware is only scratching the surface of the I.T. world. I quickly grabbed any chance to learn code, I was learning to write web pages at 17 and I dreamed of one day making a site that made people awestruck when they saw it. To me pc’s have been my lifelong dream, I find the thoughts of having the ability of making your dreams a reality, then sharing it with the world is just something I’m afraid words can’t describe the ecstacy. To know how a pc works on the “Nitty Gritty” level makes one feel that you are truly, well, Its hard to articulate the feelings one feels to be able to control code and to construct beautiful creations. What would make me a great ethical hacker would be is when people are hacking to break security I relish the challenge as it would make me test my knowledge of the computing world and make me that bit better. This is why I believe I should be entitled to the course,

Yours Sincerly,
Richard Burns.

Dear Chris Pirillo,
I am a 13 year old 8th grade student who loves anything technological. My dream is learn computer security so I can develop a program to help protect everyones computer. While I only know basic knowledge about computers I am always trying to learn more. This course would greatly increase my chances of achieving my dream. My family is on a low income though. My dad left my mom and my brother is mentally disabled. With all the expenses with my brother and other expenses I would never be able to get a course like this. It makes me upset because this makes it less likely I will achieve my dream. I know if I keep working hard I can do it but its very hard with no funding.

I have one suggestion for who you choose if not me. Choose a minor who you think has a chance. As people say we children are the future of the nation. Now I won’t list reasons why I think I am better than everyone else because I know I’m not. No one in this world is perfect especially not me. All I am really asking Chris is help me. Give me a better chance to be successful in this world. Thank you for listening to why I think I should receive the course.

Sincerely yours,
Richard J. Roden II

Chris Pirillo,
I believe I would be a great candidate for the Ethical Hacking Course for many reasons. First I am a thirty seven year old divorced father of two. I am currently taking teaching myself from dvd and many books, I have obtained online. I have been studying Career Academy-Certified Ethical Hacking, Learnkey- Hacking Revealed, Sybex Cissp (Certified Information Security Professional), CbT Nuggets (MCSE,MCSA,Comptia A+,Networking, Security) Cisco Networking Academy (CCNA,CCNP), Train Signal Mega Lab Collections (Windows Sever 2003 Enteprise,Windows Server 2008 Enterprise). I have my own virtual labs setup for networking Admin and testing purposes. I use hacking Tools such as AIO Tools and others to penetrate my network. I read constantly teaching myself scripts and languages such as C, C++, Java, Pearl, Python, Visual C/C++. Now with all this said not to shabby for a guy who started out on a Commodore 64 lerning basic and Cobalt back in the day. I server 4 years in the U.S.M.C as a fiscal accountant 95-99. Have worked many jobs as retail 12 years, construction laborer, helped a ma and pa auto shop start their own wasp database and scanning operations as well go completely turn key. On top of that I created their website and created a search lookup for make model year with pics and asccessories for the counter associate to look up product with no prior knowledge. I did this in a two month period talk about stress. I have worked for a fortune 500 company as a fund accountant. Now as you stated previous knowledge is power and as for me at this crossroads in my life and at my age I have no formal schooling nor certifications. I am currently unemployed and falling behind on child support do to the economic issues we all face. Now I am not looking for any handouts I study and read for my love of computers and to help others understand the technology we all can freely share openly and not be under the mercy of any corporate monopoly. Thanks to all those who have shared with me their knowledge in the open source community as well all the forums and especially my friends at insanely mac the osx86 foundation and youtube I-power community and Chris Pirillo. Now although I have no certifications and still find work at retail Giants for 7.50 or 8.00 an hour I know that one day I will reach my dreams of working as a system security/networking professional. Yet until then I keep striving to better myself and my belief is “others may appear smarter than us only because they read an extra book that we have studied yet”. I shall continue to teach others as well learn from others for I am a sponge that needs to be absorbed. Thanks again for all the knowledge you share Chris with the youtube community and guys like me just waiting for the next new gadget, widget, script, comp or software. Keep up the grt work and good luck to everyone who’s striving to always become a better person (mentally, physically, emotionally). Take care and God Bless. Jimmy (Hoorah former Cpl. U.S.M.C. thank you for the sacrifices you have all made for this great country we call America) and giving me the freedoms to pursue my education and happiness so I may provide for my family.

I am a teenager in High School that is learning about computers, networking and programming. I hope to eventually graduate and work at a major company such as Google or Microsoft. This would be a perfect opertunity for me to further my studys on computers and help me achieve my goal.

I have been studying for a few years now to learn everything possible about computers, and there is only so much you can learn from the public school system, and eventually college. This educational course could help me greatly and may be my best chance to reach my dream job.

I strongly hope that you consider my wish to further my knowledge and my progress towards a career.

Hello Chris, I’m a 12 year old who loves computers and have done a lot of computer work and even though I know a lot I want to learn more so when I get older I want to work wit computers. This course may really help me out to learn more and will help me out in the long run. I still have much more to learn and I really want to learn it. If I don’t win I hope it goes to some one who really needs it. So I hope I’m chosen to win and if I do I’ll make grate use out of it. I hope to be like you when i get older and do the things you do.

- Marco.P

It’s unlikely you’ll pick me, but why not try anyways? I’m not any more deserving, or less deserving to receive this gift than anyone else asking for it. It would help me out tremendously, and I would be very grateful. I’m 34, and married with kids. That pretty much makes me a dinosaur in the eyes of my fellow IT peers. I’ve been doing well in IT and have been able to keep up with my peers. Getting something like this will put me in the forefront, and help prevent me from getting passed by the younger, stronger, smarter guys my office!

Thanks,
Sean

Hi Chris,

I would love to study hacking because:

a) My profile involves with computers, writing code & making things secure.
a) I have been writing good code for a long time (6 years) & I feel it’s time for a change.
b) I would love to get back on my friends who played pranks on me.
c) You can solve your security issues without writing a code because… I will do it for you.

:-)

Cheers,
Pankaj

I personally think that you should choose the winning candidate at random due to the fact that you, or anyone else has no way knowing who is being truthful and not just going to sell those books on eBay.

Good luck people!

My name is Eric Gaskill and I am a Junior at Williamstown high school NJ. I am very hard working Both in school and in my community. I am a Eagle scout and have completed over 200 hours of community service. I would love the opportunity to learn about ethical hacking, both because I love Learning and I can never get enough of it, and I am a true geek. Education is the most important thing in my life and I want to suck up all the Information I can, and apply it to new revolutionary ideas and advancements to improve our way of life in society and not as a personal gain. I want to Change something in this world for the good of mankind. I always watch the science channel and dream of inventing new things and idea. I also love computers and software and I have tought myself everything I know but I would love to expand on what I know. I am not certain for a career path quite yet but gaining the opportunity to learn about ethical hacking might greatly influence my career choice
Thanks

I believe that I deserve the opportunity to become an ethical hacker due to the fact that I will find the most use for it, and am better suited for it. I have been programming for over three years now, and I have become very efficient at it. I have mainly written in C++ and Java, but have tried coding in Basic. Most of the other applicants do not have the problem solving skills required in a programmer, thus an opportunity like this would be wasted on them. This prize should go to someone who will put the most use to it, and who will devote the most time to learning this skill. I am that person. I love all aspects of programming, and currently have a shelf dedicated to books on various languages. This opportunity would greatly increase my spectrum in the world of computer programming. I appreciate your time. Thank you.

I have always had an Interest in computing. I love computers. I am in 8th grade.Unfortunately my high school dose not offer any courses related to computing. I plan to work in either a network-related job or computer security.
I recently took a class in computing. I learned the basics of how computers connect to a server. I became fascinated with networks. I had also thought about how secure the network was. I attempted to connect to the server. I was unsuccessful. I should receive this course because we need more computer security. Look at the security “experts” in Washington they don’t know how to keep hackers from getting government secrets. We need qualified people in the field. I believe that I should earn this course

Hey Chris,

I think I should be the one to win this because I am still young yet and i think that it would be great for me because i want to go in the work field when i get older this would be the greatest thing to happen to me. I am taking the Cisco Networking Academy class at school now so if i were given this opportunity it would be an awesome add on to my education. I take my education very seriously especially when it comes to computers and technology it is my favorite thing to do. I RELAY RELAY WANT THIS BADLY so please Chris give me that chance. THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!

hey Chris

i would like to learn hacking because:

1. my dad is a IT manager and i wanna have a similar job to him.
2. i loved computers from when i was 5 like literally.
3. i might be like you someday but instead of teaching people technology and general information i would teach people how to hack and like the different codes and scripts.
4. I just love to receive general information that is useful

Im just some 13 year old guy who loves knowledge and computers, if i win like i would help a lot of people like honestly.
thanks for reading my paragraph :)

Hi Chris,

Thanks for giving us this great opportunity.

So why do I think I’d be a good candidate for receiving such a great course? I’ve been heavily involved in computers since I was young and I have strived and studied, fighting for a career in a computer based area. But with todays economy people are finding it hard to find jobs and the places that are employing people are looking for people with high-quality precision skill sets; of which a lot of us don’t have the funds to study for.

I’m a strong believer of advancing my skills to better myself as a person and to really make a go of my life, doing something I can enjoy whilst working hard and receiving rewards.

If I was to receive this course I would be so grateful that I am given the chance to work towards employment in such an important field of work. I would set myself goals upon receiving the course and making sure I meet them as to not let this opportunity go to waste.

Thanks once again for giving us all this opportunity.

Regards,

Kal

I think I should get the books because I am only fifteen. Therefore, I would be able to use this for my future life. Like you said in the video I can make a lot of money and this may be my career path. Obviously i want this to become my career path. As, you can see, giving me the books should be in your greatest interest.

I would like to be an Ethical Hacker because it is always better to learn something from what you always fear and also the fact that hacking is another world.

Hope I win :)

why do I think I deserve to win this? Thats so simple, obviously I deserve to win for my ownage 1337 speaking skills. Chr15 P1r1ll0 ju57 g07 7r0ll3d, h4rd. Ok seriously, this is the story, my mom is in the hospital and I need to learn 1337 hax to save her life (true story). Ok I admit that was a joke and you’re probably getting pissed because you have to read this but it would be very rude if you stopped now amiright? KK so anyway, the only reason anyone wants to learn hacking is so they can show off to their friends, common Chris you know its true. Like one day, you might be at your friends house and he lets you onto his computer and then ….. BAM you pull out your pwnage hacking skills and mess up his system.
Why do I deserve this? I don’t, I just want it because I’m tired of being a script kiddie :)
Also it depends on what kind of hacking you are referring to. Gaining access to other people’s computers, DDOSing? or just C++ (as in trainers for FPS) KK so I know I’m not gonna win because of my terrible grammar (which, btw was done on purpose to piss Chris off) secondly, because this whole thing was an epic troll. kkthnxbbai

Hi Chris,

I would like to take the course on CEH’s Ethical Hacker for various reasons. A precursory requirement that most everyone would state is an interest in computers, networking and the Internet. That is a given to any individual who will apply to this contest.

Firstly, I am interested for practical reasons. I am the Head Admin of an online Counter-Strike league, it would be very beneficial for our league to have our website and servers secure from tampering. Additionally, it would help with the detection of cheaters within the league from understanding the data an anti-cheat client can collect and methods programs use to hack into games such as Counter-Strike.

Secondly, my interest of Ethical Hacker does not solely lie in the hacker epithet but as well the word ethical. While as an undergraduate, I took a graduate course on philosophy and topics such as ethics were heavily discussed. My intrigue in philosophy leads me to wonder, what is ethical in the Internet, what does the IT security industry hold as their ethical guidelines, is it possible to create such a term such as “ethical hacker”?

Thank you for taking your time to read my entry.

All my best,

Kara

Dear Chris,

I agree with your statement “attaining as much knowledge as you possibly can.” Knowledge in this day and age is the most powerful tool a person can have, because it is limitless. Therefore, other people attempt to relay falsified information in the desire of generating profit. The consumer is the one who suffers in the long run, however with courses being as expensive as they are, valid information is by no means feasible. I’ll be sharing with you my opinions as to why I believe I should be qualified.

Last year I came across a story that involved a hacker. I read through it, and found it to be highly intriguing. After searching and reading for a while, I began to understand what is considered the hacker mentality, and behave like a hacker. Through this I did more research on how to study, the main problem being cost.

Now why should so much power be designated to a 14 year old? Well, computer technology has many security flaws. The new generation of teenagers and kids are born with a lot of technology already at their disposal, unlike older generations. The younger someone begins learning the more they will be able to achieve long term.

I want to be able to help people at my school, and believe that by taking this course I will be able to help others in my community. I am confident that many people commenting here already have prior experience in this field. That is why I believe that I deserve this opportunity more than they do. I want to be able to understand how others hack computers so I can prevent and shut them out. As a high school student I cannot afford $3,000 to take this course. I am very dedicated to anything that I do, that can help me or others succeed.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope that you consider me for this course. If I don’t get selected I wish the person who wins the best of luck.

Chris,
I love computers! I have experienced a hacked device and how it completely breaks the boundaries of the system and is able to do things that seemed impossible. I want to learn how to go outside the box, and break the limitations set by the programmers. I admire hackers (the coolest kind of geek) and how they completely go beyond what one can think of , and it would be awesome to be able to take a hacking course for free! I also think I have a good imagination so that should definitely help. :D

Thanks,
Pablo

I am currently at the end my first year towards a BSc in Computer Science, ethical hacking has been of great interest to me for some time now. Before starting my course i thought hacking would be something i would pick up as my knowledge of computer systems develop however in the past eight months this theory has been disproved. A large amount of my course is programming based, in particular object oriented approaches to programming, where i have learnt how data is stored in private forms and can only be accessed through pre-compiled code making this data extremely hard to obtain outside normal circumstances. This realisation has lead me to look into ethical hacking more deeply. Unfortunately my university does not offer a course in ethical hacking and online resources seem somewhat sketchy due to legality reasons. This opportunity, for me, is unique and is one that i don’t think will come around again but the aspect of this opportunity that i like the most is the ethical part of it. Many people don’t understand what hacking is, and certainly don’t understand what ethical hacking is. For example it almost annoys me when people say they are a hacker because they run a java script that pulls up a hotmail password, or run a piece of software that decrypts a WEP key from a wireless data packets. These people are merely users of software, the hackers are the people who do the research and development behind the software. Furthermore, the examples i have given above are not forms of ethical hacking and in an ideal world wouldn’t exist. Hacking is a career option i have been interesting in, that is, working along side a computer systems development team trying to find security floors in developing software to produce a superior end product for the community it is aimed at and to protect that community from unethical hackers.

I feel my current knowledge of the computing world is at a point where i would benefit a great deal from this as i know enough to ‘decode’ the jargon to delve into what is being said deeper, but don’t know too much that the opportunity would be wasted.

Many thanks for this opportunity,

Robert.

I think I should get this course because I already have a lot of knowledge in computers in general but I don’t think I have been more than a script kiddy, I have only tried small things yet like trying to hack a school network and stuff like that. I would really want to kick it up a notch now and get more knowledge about hacking in general in order to protect myself better, help other people with internet security and maybe even get a job in the internet security business!

Dear Chris Pirillo,

I would appreciate the opportunity into winning this course to improve my knowledge of hacking. I have always wanted to become a Certified Ethical Hacker, and I enjoy the plausible opportunities in how things work – and, how you can use “how things work” to your advantage. This includes, manipulation, code execution, and hardware fingerprinting and resolving.
Information is power. I would love to take this course not only to improve my knowledge, but I want to use it to help the world. I’m not the sort of person who wants to “Hack The Planet”, I am more of the sort of person who would want to find vulnerabilities in corporations and companies and help them – not for my benefit, but for theirs; simply because I see that in this world we need to work together to succeed in one objective goal: living, learning, and loving.
I appreciate the opportunity Chris Pirillo. I have grown up with computers all my life, and this is something I have always been interested in learning in.

Thank You,
-Curran H.

Because I love computers, software engineering, and advancing technologies. Everyone else here most likely love the same things, and I am just another one of them.

To take the Ethical Hacker Course would jump start my education and allow me to likely gain a good job while I study at college. I am aspire to become a Professor in Computer science, and anything involving highly advanced networking and security would be a great asset to that goal.

Hi Chris,
I am a student just about to go into college in a computer information systems course and then I would like to take computer engineering in university. I am an avid learner and would love the opportunity to have a chance at becoming a ethical hacker. I think the knowledge pertained in those books would be very beneficial in my capable hands and would allow me to broaden my knowledge and give me the opportunity to be in a highly skilled career. I am always asked by friends for help pertaining to their computer needs and by acquiring these books I can further increase my skills. No matter who wins I want to thank you for allowing me to have the opportunity to win something far more valuable then computer hardware or money.

I once hired a guy to help me with a computer problem. Among his many computer qualifications, he listed that he was a Certified Ethical Hacker. Yet, it took him over 8 hours to install a clean copy of Windows XP on a (newer) laptop. I’d love to win the contest so I can find out what this certification taught this “tech” – certainly it must be more advanced than reloading a computer.

Hi Chris,

I usually think the chances of winning your giveaways are one out of a billion. I wouldn’t be leaving this comment if I thought this giveaway was going to be the same. Well, I think I have a better chance than everyone else. Throughout my life, I’ve always been known as “the hacker.” All my friends call me Hacker. This is because I have retrieved many passwords that don’t belong to me in the past. I’ve been looking for a way to change my negative hacking abilities to positive. I think the “Ethical Hacking Course” can give me the potential to do that. If you look at my website, you will clearly see that my life is based on technology. Also, you can see that I am way too young to possibly supply money to buy the “Ethical Hacking Course.” As soon as I become 16 years old, I plan on getting certified for Apple so I can get paid. I think the “Ethical Hacking Course” can get me a second job. I have also begun to learn many programming languages such as HTML, Java Script, and Flash. I plan to learn the more complicated programming languages in High School. I have found many hacks for my school’s server and I was rewarded when I told the computer teacher about them. I also told her how to fix or block them. Anyways, I have been watching your videos for quite a while and I have gained a great deal of knowledge from them.

Best regards,

Darren
Darreners

I would like to take this course for the purpose of my future and for fun. But do not get me wrong i would take this seriously. I am considered the computer wiz amongst my friends. And i have always wanted to know more about computers when ever i have the chance. well thanks for reading, have a good day

When I first saw the video I wasn’t sure what to think, nor do for that matter. At first after reading through some of the other comments, I thought maybe I could simply try and wow you with the knowledge I had already learnt using my own resources. But being a smart-ass gets you nothing. I thought maybe I could read others comments and try and out smart them instead, but that’s no different. Normally I don’t comment on anything so this is a… pretty much a first for me. So here goes.

Computers have always been a major interest for me, often taking over my interests in many other things that some would consider more important. Taking time from seeing friends to study something that fascinated me, or staying up later than I should to make extra sure I understand a new concept. The reason I would like to get this course, no sorry, the reason I would love the opportunity for this course is not only because of the mass of knowledge that I would give everything to learn, but because I haven’t got the opportunity to do a course so spectacular in my location, and situation for that matter.

I don’t want to take this course to alleviate myself from a ’script kiddie’ level (not that I feel I am a script kiddie on any level). Or try to become someone above a script kiddie. Status isn’t important when it comes to your own future, so the reason I would ask for this course for the opportunities it would bring in a career I can only dream of. There’s nothing quite like knowledge.

“What Does It Take to Be an Ethical Hacker?”

Knowledge, such as this, opens a new horizon for the interested geek eye. Geeks that are interested in technology (such as me) would love to understand the fundamentals of this new found world of “hacking.” But hacking can only cover so much ground on this land of many buildings and structures. I would love to enter this world to understand and harness this glorious knowledge of hacking.

I believe learning is the best ability a human can possess. Learning is one of my passions because I’m very proud of my knowledge and how much I have learned during my years. I want to know what it takes to be an “Ethical Hacker.” I find it fascinating that people who hack are capable of doing both amazing and/or horrible things. But if I’m the winner of this contest, I will use this knowledge to help with my studies in college to be a Tech Engineer and an IT Tech. I want to learn about technology and software as much as possible. Earning this course will be a jump start to my goals.

I should be the one to receive this hacker course because all of my life I’ve dedicated myself to serving the public at large with their computer issues. A few years back my computer repair company launched a war against mal-ware and spy-ware and we’ve cleaned out thousands of computers. That’s a far cry from computer security, yes, but with the knowledge I gain, I can then not only pass that knowledge on to my employees but I can also be an even greater service to the public than I already have been. Computer’s are my life. 24/7 days a week (if I’m not sleeping) I’m either serving a customer, blogging, building websites, or otherwise on the computer. I look for ways that I can teach people how to be more careful while online. So on a final note, I am not asking to be considered for this hacking course for myself, I’m asking for it for those who look up to me each and every day in my community to help, serve, and protect them in Cyber Space. Thank you for your time.

i am currently enrolled in The University of Akron. i am 22 and i really want to do something with computers. i am very computer “Savvy” and i know that i would do great being in some sort of field with computers. i think taking a course such as this could open my eyes into possibly settling in a exact field of study, whether that be this type of work that this course offers or others. Experiencing this would help me out so much for a choice to better my future :) Thanks for the opportunity!

Dear Chris,

First of , you should know I’m a Programmer for about 4 years now. I have made a lot of projects into private server sources as FlyFF ( rhisis source ) Rose ( Os Rose) and way more. I’m working everday as a programmer so I can be one of the best ( I wish ) and can start to program bigger things.
I’m a c++ , java , VB , C# coder. Im always giving my 110% everywhere when i started to study programming languages as C++ ( my favorite ) I was reading books practice about everyday till 2 ~ 4 am.
Why should you chose me?
Well first of all I know alot about programming and i could pretty easily handle hacking. I want to learn to hack because i dont want to stop being a programmer I want to have more knowledge after all. I started not long ago studying internet security buisness and hacking stuff just to see how it works.
As you know Coding and hacking are different stuff but they all have common things and I always wanted to learn more stuff. You should know that I always wanted to take programming classes and more but as my mom refuse me to go on them because she thinks I’m losing my time and this could be a great opportunity for me to learn more about Hacking.
I expect form this hacking tutorial to learn about network hacking ( NetBots IRC or others). I want to have more knowledge because my life interessed is in programming and hacking.
Not long ago a game company making a naruto mmorpg called naruto-abunai offered me a job position as code in their server. Heres is the link: http://www.naruto-abunai.com/
I also applyed to a other game company which i got accepted into rebirthing a mmorpg called Ferentus that closed some years ago. Why Should you really chose me and not a other guy! Because I have a lot of intrest in Programming , hacking anything related to the computers. I can learn anything pretty fast.

P.S My grammer might have some leaks because I’m french and I wanted to say people are impressed at me because I’m only 16 year old and i have so much Intrest into hacking and learning more!

Hello
I have always liked computers. It was something that I could do with my father. I knew I wanted to work in the computer field, but I didn’t know what direction to take until I started looking at college, they told me about information security. How cool is that, to play the robber in order to help the cops. Using the same tools as your opponent you peck at the flaws in a system. It reminded me of Robert Redford in the movie Sneakers. In order to know one’s enemy you must first know your weakness. A whole new world was opened to me. I never knew the offensive or defensive capabilities. I constantly searched for different and new technologies. Who knew it’s never good to go into a “honey pot”? We all know it is good to “Backtrack” our steps. I am currently halfway through my degree in Information Science with a concentration in Computer Security.
I have been in the Navy for almost 10 years I am looking to change my job. This course would greatly help this endeavor. I like the idea of information warfare. No one takes into account how important it really is or how much it is like actual warfare. It may look like I am just typing numbers when in fact I am closing ports and running scans. We have to be vigilant 100 percent of the time. They only need to get lucky once. Not on my watch!

I am the computer network guru that possesses the unnatural holy powers of hardware. All you mortals shall tremble at your knees for your fate is in my hands. BOW! And beg for your help desk ticket to be answered within two hours of submission! For I am your network administrator!

I share the responsibility of a $100k+ network for a multi-million engineering firm. My expertise goes well into hardware and my security knowledge is well on the rise.

I am determined to become an expert in all areas of networking.

This is not just another hobby I just happened to pick up. At age 22 this IS my career. I do not want, wish, or hope to become the best. I WILL be the best.

If I am to become a more efficient guru, I first must humble myself before those who are much more intelligent than me. This class will allow me that opportunity, and I can then pass on my knowledge onto others to better the community of network administrators.

-Jonathan-

Hi Chris. I am 16 and and I think I should be the one to take that course because I live in a small town in New Hampshire with not a lot of opportunities. My high school does not offer very many computer classes, so most of my knowledge has been self taught. I attended the Big Nerd Ranch Objective-C/Cocoa Bootcamp in Atlanta, I also took part in a programming competition at Saint Anselm College. I have always thirsted for knowledge which has sparked my knowledge in hacking. I am part of a few forums and I have always been interested in taking something and seeing what I can make it do and not necessarily what it is made for. When I go to college I plan on majoring in Computer Security and minoring in International Business. I currently run my own technology blog at http://www.pointlessprogrammers.com. All the knowledge I have of the technology field comes from doing/trying new things. I am a true hacker at heart, I have always been curious. I have always wanted to see what I can do, to test the limits of my knowledge. I am currently trying to set up a VoIP server in my home. I have not real experience with VoIP, I found the book “Hacking VoIP” by Himanshu Dwivedi and a Barnes and Nobel and I have been using that book along with random internet articles to build this server. This course will also help me lock down my VoIP server so that no one can break in. I have always found ways to take knowledge that I have or have access to and do different things with it. I have been wanting to take this course for about a year now, but I do not have the funds to attend. This course will give me a kick start into the world of computer security and will be all around beneficial for my future career and attending the college I want to attend.

Sincerely
~Jeremy

I have always been very interested in computer security. From a young age, I would intentionally break my own computers in order to learn how to keep those problems from happening again and find out more about the inner workings of the computer. I’d fix them again, and break them again just to continue learning.

Throughout the years, I’ve provided services to people looking to find what’s wrong with their computers using the knowledge I learned, however I found that the most rewarding thing I can do is give someone a computer that’s safe to use, and will not encounter issues when properly maintained. I love to put the extra effort into giving just a little extra support to people.

I’ve learned a lot about computers and have done some things with ethical hacking, however I’ve done most of what you can do for free already. It’s really hard to come up with the money to take courses like this. I am a college student depending on student loans for my education, and for a single course costing $3,000, I don’t know how I’d even start paying for that one course alone, at least right now.

I believe I should get the reward for several reasons. One of which is that I don’t know everything, and admit it. The material is valuable to me because it’s information I don’t know to a high enough standard yet. Secondly, I have a high passion and desire to learn and really get a hands-on approach for this material. Thirdly, I feel that this prize would offer such a substantial increase in my skills and knowledge that it would guarantee me a great job where I could be on the frontlines of countering hacking methods.

Please consider me as a definite option for the reward. I feel that it would be extremely beneficial to me in the job market and would take this college student to a new degree of competency over something I feel so passionate about.

Thank you.

Hey Chris. First thing is I just want to let you know I have been watching your live feed for about a year now and really enjoy it. I am, who most would call, a geek. All my life I have been interested with technology, and made my decision in High School that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I took every computer class my High School provided by my junior year. I am a freshmen now, currently going to Purdue to get my degree in Computer Information Technology. When I am not at school I am working. I work in Geek Squad at the local Best Buy. I love my job and everyday I get to learn more things about technology. I have now been working there for over 2 years and am now the Senior Agent at the store. I would love to get this training because of how it could help with my job. Coding is the one thing I never tried to put my foot in. I would love to learn about ethical hacking because I would use what I learned every single day while I am at work helping people with their computer and technology needs. I would take what I learned by this and share it with my fellow Agents so we could all learn from this. Thank you for my consideration and keep up the good work.

Hey chris, My names Aztec, I’m not much of a writer but I do consider myself to be quite a thinker, lol. Ive always had a thing for engineering, mainly civil you know bridge designs etc. but I think Computer engineering will be the way I go, you know I own two computers that work and two that Ive pulled apart because of my curiosity, and yes they still work to an extend, lol. Ive successfully changed the boot, and login screens on both computers and also the style. all of which completed by using programs. Thats the thing though, you know anyone can customize windows XP or vista or any computer in this case using programs. The thing with me is that I always want to know the specifics on how things work , for example at school I’m currently working through extension 2 maths, and I mean its easy enough to use a formula to solve a problem or an equation, but to understand something fully you need to know the process that was used in creation, thats just say. But yeah, I think its a curiosity thing with me But I would sincerely appreciate a jump as you say, to my career. If you cant I understand, I mean you have to be in to win though aye. laters.

I think I should take this hacking course because I am interested in becoming a hacker, honestly. I could argue countless times and waste your time reasoning why I should become the next hacker. I’m willing to go as far as possible to learn ethical hacking, because I’m interested and enthusiastic about learning this course. Seriously, if I wasn’t interested, do you honestly think I could care to leave a comment in your box? No.

But damn, a 3,000 course, as you put it is quiet substantial. In return I’m willing to spend as much time necessary in order to learn this course because I believe this will progress my future career and give me a “jump start” as well as give me the chance to exceed in this competition society.

Help me Chris. I need the motivation, the support to advance in becoming an ethical hacker. Give me the head start. Knowledge is power. You have no idea how much I longed for something like this to happen.

Thank you. James, age 15.

Well, the reason I really want to receive this course, is because I have always wanted to know more than is really available to you. Because certainly there is many ways you can really improve not only yours, but others people experience in modifying technology. Also, since my first computer, I knew there was something I could do, to make this or that better… by improving!

Technology class in my school is pretty basic, but has definitely set my mind to be a person who eventually finds the real danger in the cyber world. I want to know how to protect it. This works by making everyone’s experience better, by knowing you are not going to be high jacked over night. We all know, it sucks to turn on your computer and find out really bad errors causing your time to be dragged on a nail bed.

So this pretty much concludes why I should receive this course.

(Shout out to Chris… “Keep up the great work!”)

Well i cant give you as long of a speach as most of the other people but here is the rundown.. Im 18 and since i was about 8 or 9 my parents used to be very strict on what i could do on my computer, my mom loved to be in controll of everything and one of those things were parental controlls on the computer. About 3 years into my life of gamming and finding out more and more about what a computer would do i was sick of having time limits and blocks on my computer, so what did i do? I took them off or got around them most of the time through the motherboard. Now this is when i was about 13 years old and i got in some serious trouble for doing this. Finally when i was 16 they caught me hacking (not illegaly) but hacking around all of the garbage they had thrown onto the computer, Most of it wasnt hard to get around it was basicly all using the motherboard and cmd some code. But anyway as of right now im sitting in my moms basment with my own computer that i baught (Dell Inspiron), it gets the job done for now.. I have a job at a grocery store that pays me $7.00 an hour and i need a car and i need a sudent loan and i need an apartment because my mom is charging me way to much to stay here. I dont know much about code but ive been trying to teach myself for the past few years. This course would change my life and my future career in code. Code is what i have decided to go into anyway to college for but an ethical hacking course is an amazing opertunity and it would open up so many different oppertunities for me. Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your life to read this. This course would mean the WORLD to me, Literally.

Hey Chris,

I’m currently a Computer Engineering student at UofI, and I’m planning to emphasize in Computer Security. However, I still need to take a couple of prerequisite Computational Theory courses before I’ll be able to enroll in any Computer Security courses offered at the University.
Over the summer, my goal is to get ahead in my classes by self-teaching myself as much as possible. I just recently obtained some algorithm design reference books, and have been looking around for other sources to tap into over the break. (I find it rather ironic that I stumbled upon this post at such a time as this.)
Anyway, the program at my school is incredibly rigorous, and it is imperative that I keep learning, even outside of the classroom. These books would definitely be an excellent opportunity for me to get ahead in my field of study.

Thank you for your consideration, and keep up the good work.

i wrk on social media , i think i desrve to know about hacking too

Chris,
You have inspired me! I have been a network engineer for over 13 years. I typically travel all over the country doing project work for a wide variety of companies. About 6 months ago my wife began having seizures, it has taken months and months to get them under control and things seem to have settled down thanks to her new treatments. But the problem is, I can no longer afford to travel for my work anymore. There are tons of opportunities for me to work locally or even from home if I had a stronger background in security. Since I have been unable to travel I have lost out on projects and basically haven’t worked full time since October of ‘08 when the big bad friend named Epilepsy decided to move in to my life! Anyways, I love your community, your sense of humor, and your DOGS! So, “Thanks” and I hope to “e” you later when you tell me how to get hooked up! Also, Thanks to EC – Council!

Hi Chris,

This is a very generous offer to one lucky person. Thank you for sharing the good fortunes and good luck to those who have posted. If I were to win this class, I’d apply it to my already security focused career path. I’m fairly green in the tech world, I have a few years of open source and tech support under my belt, but I’ve began a career path where I have targeted Security +, Ethical Hacker, CISSP and the GSEC certifications. Aside from the obvious point of enjoying the completion of an already established goal, only with a heavier wallet, I honestly would like this opportunity because I have a wife and munchkins to support. My wife stays at home with our three munchkins and that is a decision we love and I support, so this course is 3K that can be used to somewhere else to help my family. An opportunity to grow the support I provide for my family is always high ranking in my priorities. That is a task, I’ll fight to do, hopefully with your help.

Good evening to you sir.

Brandon

because I am from Serbia

I would love to this course, because i am planning on pursuing a career in Information Security. This course will really give me a head start in my career. I really want to get my master degree in Information Security, but that is not feasible at the moment, so this course would be the next best thing.Hope i win it, fingers crossed :D

Dear Mr. Pirillo,

I’m writing to explain why you should choose me to have this course.

In my country there are only few people knows about security and hacking, fortunately I’m one of them, but the “Ethical” concept is not known to many of them, and I always sounds like talking about rocket science when I try to talk about Ethical Hacking.

I’ve been looking for a training or any kind of trusted materials such as videos and ebooks over the internet but I was not satisfied of what I had at all.

I need more information from the experts, I need to have experienced experts ideas of how to become ethical in this business.

This is not going to be only useful for my career, but I wish to add more value to my country’s IT market, in addition to I wish to start teaching this piece of technology to others, then hundreds would have benefits, not only one person as you said dear Chris.

This is one of my dreams.

Yours Sincerely,
Ali Amer Tweel.
Tripoli, Libya.

The reason why i’d even dare to think i even need this course is because I have never got into programming before and my life has had a bit of a set back because of bullying destroying my confidence in myself, (you did say, “tell us your story”). Because of that i have not been able to do what i need to to get into a well paying job or even to get a job full stop.

It would be awesome to learn something that i’ve always wanted to do with my life like programming, who knows where that will take me and the exciting challenges that will be thrown in my path.

You know the biggest thing i have always dreamed of doing if ever i became a ethical hacker? I want to destroy the porn industry, i mean litterally wipe them off the face of the earth. The only way i would be able to do that is if i learn this course.

I would say that getting rid of the porn industry amongst other things and wiping viruses out forever, )sort of) would be a couple of good uses for ethical hacking.

Thank you Chris
Paul Bennett

I don’t want to say I necessarily “Deserve It” but i would LOVE to have it! I’m 16 and am going into cyber security for my profession. I just placed 1st in an FBLA Cyber security test and keep reading Security+ whitepapers and taking practice exams. This upcomming summer i am taking four programming courses; Intro to Programming (Easy), C++/Java/Pearl/Python Basics, Advanced Programming (Last part of the summer), Intro to graphical programming (DirectX/OpenGL)

beCause i’m inTErsTed to learn hacking , cleAr and SimPle

Being a husband, a father and a night full-time student has really taught me that in life every step you take closer to a better future for your family is what life is all about.
Unfortunately I can’t continue with my college classes because of a financial issue. This opportunity is something that would give me the necessary boost to get a little closer to my goals.
I’ve being in a community college for almost almost 2 years and I’m just a few classes shy from graduating in Information Security.
I watch your videos frequently and I enjoy your dog.
Thanks for the opportunity you give all of us to try to compete for this course.

I am currently in my third year of training to be a teacher. The sad part however is that the school which I am aiming to become a member of has terrible internet security. Gaining knowledge such as this would allow me to work above and beyond my own usual means to be of help to my students and my colleagues work in a secure environment.

Of course simply knowing the information is never enough to truly be good at what you do. I will not deny that I show very little promise in the world of hacking. Even with what I do know I never seem to be able to apply it towards something worthwhile. All I can do is do my best, as cliche as that sounds.

But yes I don’t deserve this more than anyone else, or at all even. it would simply save me money I don’t have though. And especially won’t have considering the work I’m going into, and the fact that President Obama is implementing merit pay. When you’re a new teacher you don’t even get full year employment and you’re not guaranteed to be good right out the gates…so that is slightly detrimental.

because knowledge is power.

Chris,
I am network admin at a large school district in the San Bernardino area. As you know, budgets, and resources in the educational system are completely lacking, much less to ask for professional development that would include ethical hacking. That said, though I know the inner workings of my network, I know that I’m still vulnerable in some places, and aside from my basic knowledge about network penetration, I don’t have any official training. I think I should get this training because I feel like I am responsible for the online safety of 34,000 kids in my district, and I need to do everything to protect my network with the very minimal resources that are at my disposal.

Thanks for your consideration!

I love computer, I love programming and I love to be an ethical hacker.. The computer world is my passion.

Ever since I was about 12 years of age, I have been extremely interested in computing. This interest has developed over the years into a hobby and more recently, a career prospect.

To help myself with this I have invested in a number of programming books (all C++ orientated) and studied them as hard as I possibly could. After that I looked into IT/Computing careers, I am doing a lot of research into them and titles such as, System Security Analysis, Systems Engineer etc caught my eye.

So I think that I should receive this amazing once-in-a-life-time opportunity because it would greatly help my career path and open my eyes to things which are essential to know if you’re choosing this path in your life. I am a real believer in hard work, and if I won, I would work to the best of my ability.

Thanks

Hi Chris,
I first learned about ethical hacking 4 years ago when I was in college, and since then I’ve always wanted to be one. I am a self-taught graphic designer, programmer and web developer, and security has always been at the forefront of what I do. Call it a co-incidence, but a certification on Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures is the next item on my list of career goals. That’s why I was elated when I noticed the first entry in today’s OnGeeks newsletter. The question ‘How can you become an ethical hacker’ just leapt out of the page. I think it’s vital in this day and age to learn to think like a hacker when you’re programming for the web. Although I was planning to acquire the certification during the course of this year, I had put my plans on hold due to the current state of the economy. So if I win this, you’d give me another chance at realizing a very important goal in my career, and you would’ve made what seemed impossible, possible! And regardless of me winning or losing, thank you for everything (the site, the channel and the community)!
Good day!

Hi Chris,
My name is Ryan, I am 29 years old and I got a late start as a student. I am currently attending the local community college with only a few more credit hours until I have my A.A.S. Network Technology degree. Next week I will be recognized as the “Outstanding Student” in my degree program. I have earned this award because of my dedication to continuing my education, perfect GPA, and my willingness to share and help others.

I hope to be considered as a candidate for your giveaway of EC-Council’s course of Ethical Hacking. I believe that I already possess the fundamentals required to achieve the highest gain from this course. I also believe that this course will show me how to apply my experience, education, and problem solving skills to real world network infrastructure. I really like the fact that this program is not vendor specific, many certifications are limited to one branded name. This course can show me how to use penetration testing to achieve a high level of network security on any network, for any organization.

I have taken many online learning classes in the past, but this one is very exciting. I cannot wait to see how the use of web conferencing, VoIP, distributed video platforms, and even their virtual servers called iLabs is applied to the learning experience. Thank you again for this opportunity to be considered for your giveaway of EC-Council’s Ethical Hacking course.

Your friend
-Ryan

I think i should get this because I’m only 17 and i just finished the first year in my program at college in Computer Networking. Hopefully i will graduate by the end of this year and then i plan on getting Certified by Cisco. I really am interested in Computer Networking Security and i do believe that ethical hacking is a huge part of it. I would honestly like to learn as much as i can about it.

Hello, I just found this in my tech emails that I get in my workplace email and would love the chance to get this training. I have worked around computers for years and 2 years ago got an Associates Degree in Computer Information Technology through an on-line university. My job as the IT Manager permits me to work with computers daily, but I need the know how to work ‘in’ the computers. I feel like all I can do now is some educated guessing & maintaining the status quo.

Why should I get the course?
Well like some people here I’m a student and can’t afford to purchase a course like this (3000 US is about 24,000 Swedish Kronor which is like three months of pay if you don’t like pay rent or buy food).

But there is of course a better reason. In one year if everything goes to plans (or rather don’t but that’s a whole other story) I’ll be going to study at a university, I have not yet decided what programme to take yet but as of now I’m leaning against doing a major in computer science or engineering. So this course would not only give me an advantage in the future job market but also in school.

I am one that believes that the future lies in the IT/computer security so this would really give me great opportunity to get a head start in that business.

Regards
Eric Skoglund

Chris,

About 10 years ago, I started reading the “hacking exposed” books at my local Barnes And Noble. Now I am a full Unix networking administrator that specializes in computer security. Everything I have leaned is ether reversed engineered or I read about on a out of date website. I would completely love the opportunity to take this course and become a “Ethical Hacker”.

Greetings Chris, everyone.

Hmm, why should I be given this opportunity? Well, why should anyone? There’s several key reasons, all of which are important no doubt, but I personally feel that the key is the ability to innovate.

Lets reflect on that abit shall we?

It tends to be difficult to innovate these days. The OS market is pretty stable, hardware firms all have standards in place, everyone has his or her favorite brand of processor, or video card, or whatever. But really, not much is innovating, not breathtakingly anyway. Lack of the ability to innovate, motivated me to not really care too much about college for a computer maintenance course. I personally feel innovation is the single biggest reason to motivate anyone trying to break from the mold, a mold I myself don’t really feel I belong to.

So, if it’s difficult to innovate in the hardware world, what about the software world? Well, for the most part, software companies just want people’s money. If they can make the consumer feel safe surfing the net, then they can gain a profit from it. Meanwhile, innovators are at work, unethical hackers, finding ways around and through “high end” firewalls, setting up bot nets and wreaking havoc for thousands, if not millions, of computer users worldwide. Computer and network security are indeed big financial business, but I don’t feel that it needs to be looked at as just a means of getting money, it has to be more than that in order for innovation to work, and more importantly for everyone, to succeed.

Take a fortune 500 company, look through it’s security measures, then tear it apart! Sure! Then, rebuild it better, tear it apart again, learn what failed and how to make it better, rinse and repeat, then get creative! Do things to that security system that no one would even dare do in a normal malicious attack! Imagine the possibilities, create impossibilities, then protect against all of them.

Do I have my own wants for such an opportunity, sure, of course, but at the end of the day that’s not what matters. What truly matters is innovation, because through innovation, everyone benefits, not just yourself. So why should I deserve such an opportunity, because through innovation, we can make the world just a little more secure, and in security, the world has the opportunity then to innovate, and then truly everyone benefits. Is that not the reason to do such a thing, for the benefit of whomever your client may be?

And I hope, that even if I am not selected, I hope that whomever is selected keeps that in mind and in heart.

Sincerely,

These books would help me get a headstart on my network security career. I believe I would turn these books into a very successful career, oh and chris pirillo is t3h 1337.

i’m learning right now html,i’m good at computers, and i’m going to college to be a programmer.so theses books could really help me out.
p.s. i always wanted to be a hacker

P.S. I always wanted to be a hacker

hi chris i’m from MEXICO and i been waching your videos for about 4 months and i think, some one in mexico should do the same, you know just for the lenguaje, but i tell you your videos are very helpfull for me, no-one over here talk so much of tecnolgy as you do,i wanna say than because your coments i get my first mac and i love it,,,, well is the first time i post in your blog and that is because i really like the idea of get those books i mean it could help me in the university … and for be reallistic i love the security in my computer but most of the time i dont have an idea how to do it … well i dont even know if you could send those to mexico but i would like to win … and sorry if i have any kind of word wrong … i dont know so much english …anyway “E Ya Later” jajajaja…

Chris all my life I have been wondering what kind of career I was going to be doing for the rest of my life. Senior year in high school I met a girl we dated for a year and had a child.I had to be a dad, when I turned 18 I started my first job and ever since I have worked in a warehouse wondering when
I was going to continue in any IT field.Sorry my spelling is not the best but I have to go to work now typed last minute thank you

I should become the next certified ethical hacker because I want to help people protect themselves. If I learn more about hacking and networking I would be able to help people. For that reason hacking has always been interesting to me. Although I learn pretty fast, I have never been able to get enough information to really become a hacker. Personally and after what I have heard I think I can make a change! My enthusiasm for computing and technology in general, is the reason for this. So I really hope this can be my chance to make a change in the future!

Hi there I think I deserve this oppertunity because here in the Uk there is one university I repeat only one university that does an ethical hacking course. I am doing my GCSE’s in a few weeks and have worked my but off to be able to go to my sixth form (college) just to go on this one course in the UK. Thats four – six years work for one course and this would be a great help to get me on that course. There is about 30 places for the whole of the UK I am justing hoping that I am good enough to get in and this would be a great help
Thanks Loads

I have personally loved hacking since I got my first computer about 11, I am currently 16, and can remember the days of trying to telnet into things, oh those were the days but I now require a deeper knowledge of things, and personally would find those books not also a lot of help getting me onto that course, but also a great source of fun, heck, I will even test your website for free Chris :P
Thanks Loads

Hey Chris well i think i should get this prize because i am planning to work for the well known geek squad and it would help a lot in my studies. i plan to work with internet security, it will also be a great gift for my friend because he just got accepted to caltech

Your going to have a VERY hard job, Chris D:

I’m not going to bullshit you for twelve paragraphs, tell you a sob story about my family, or write about how much I love computers and technology.
I’m pretty sure just about everyone who is participating in this is fitting for the opportunity equally. No one can honestly say that they deserve it the most.
With a mindset like that, I’m not so sure how ‘ethical’ they could be. It’s a totally hypocritical.
I may or may not be the most deserving, but I wouldn’t question that my devotion and gratitude wouldn’t be one of the highest.

I think i should get the course on hacking because i want to be a hacker. and i want to know more about hacking. hacking seems like serius work and a challenge and i’m always up to a challenge. i would work hard at that course and pass it with an a++. if i’m certified in hacking i can get a job as a hacker and i would be the happiest person in the world. ps. it nice i like screenshots

Ethical Hacking would not exactly describe the day I executed my first computer command. Of course I was only 9 at the time and really was curious what would happen when I executed the “Format C:” command on a couple of the display computers at the local CompUSA. I had heard my older brother talking tech with his friends earlier that day and I had remembered this particular command. Curiosity didn’t kill the cat that day, just a few computers. Once a couple of the store clerks realized what I had done they chased me out of the store yelling something along the lines of, “Go home and never to come back!” which is a milder version of what was actually yelled. I ran outside, got on my bike, and rode all the way home pale as a ghost. I felt scared but at the same time exhilarated and fascinated that a simple command could take out a computer. I’m not proud of my actions but admit that I fondly look back at that incident. That was the day that sparked my interest in computing and I’ve been hooked ever since.

18 years later, I consider myself an “ethical” tech savvy guy. I enjoy using what I know at home, at work, and with the community. My tech credentials come from my own personal research and through a whole lot of trial and error — on my own computers. A few years back I worked my way up to an Interim IT Administrator position when the other IT Admin set off to greener pastures. Unfortunately the assignment turned out to be only a temporary assignment. I have since moved around quite a bit and have landed a decent job, which for a lot of us stands for Just Over Broke. I am known to my co-workers as the “other IT guy”, without they pay, since I help the IT Admin with the stuff he can’t get to. I do this to gain experience, further my knowledge, and get my tech fix. I also volunteer from time to time after work assisting my diocese/community with tech questions and the never ending battle against malware and bugs.

I have taken the knowledge I have gained throughout the years and applied it to my day-to-day coming and goings. I have feverishly been seeking a career change in the Computing and Internet Security field. I’m on a waiting list for an Assistant Information Systems Analyst position for the State of California but so are a few 1000 to 2000 other folks who passed the CA AISA exam along with me. I’m proud to say that I know more than the average Joe but not enough to put on a resume and land a great career doing what I’ve always loved doing. Life’s been tough so it’s been a struggle trying to finish up college. I’ve picked up more and more financial responsibilities and am hoping to catch a break. If given this opportunity I’m not afraid to put in the work. So I humbly submit my request to be considered to receive the tools to become a Certified Ethical Hacker and take the next step forward.

why I should be the only person that gets to get this $3000 course?

Well, growing up i’ve always wanted to be a hacker, i remember me going to friends houses and entering game codes into their ps2 game.As my life progressed ( about 6 years later) i have continually spent HOURS and HOURS of my time learning about hacking,( at school i got suspended for 7 DAYS, for hacking ito my teachers account and trying to change my grades.).

i currently have 1000’s of Ebooks ( 1 pager’s) that are ment to teach me hacking, not really good. Iv’e Spent my time at hackthissite,( about a month ago) it was really good, BUT that website just gave challanges and didn’t actually TEACH you. I am in my late teens and $3,000 IS too much for me to afford. i have to pay my school ( because learning is fun and great) pay for everything, my part time job would take me 22 weeks of saving up money WITHOUT using a single dollar of the savings to buy the $3000 course.

I am looking for a career in hacking, they cost $22,000 at the university.I have tried to help improve my hacking skills myself, from Fixing software errors on PC, to modding my brothers PSP’s .My parents do not think hacking has any potential so they do not support me at it. I would love somone to give me a chance to learn more about hacking.

other people have posted, ” this will get me a sucessfull career” or ” im going to college, so i need these”, The people are going to a programming course, not hacking, the lecturer will teach them to be somone that is a qualified IT technition. im not going to study this in college because they cost me an awful lot. if i do not get this my life dream would eventually come to an end. I really need this.

Thanks for reading.

Karar.

i think i shut get thes book be cuse i em 16 and i wona be a hacker sines 4 years ago i wona work in computer and hacker and i will be one who wil put here a post from iceland!! :P so give me but ye i wona work has a hacker whot i now now is like keylogger rat botnet brutal pishing so yee thats a but it soz my righting is bad be cuse i live in iceland and i em 16 and i have like a dyslexya so ye so i hope i win

CEH isn’t very honored. Don’t waste your time with obtaining that particular certification. It would be wise to obtain a CISSP, Security+, or GSEC. Enough said.

Hey Chris,

I am 15 years old, I live in Queensland, Australia. My name is Daniel. I have been watching your videos for over a year now and although I don’t get time to stop by the chat room I take a real interest in you.

I would be incredibly interested in the course you offered as I am forever wanting to expand my knowledge of computers. I learned computers by self teaching myself at the age of five and have read nothing but books on computers and the internet pretty much ever since.

I am in year eleven at high school and my teacher is recommending I bypass senior education to move forward onto University because my knowledge is beyond most teachers. I have had many teachers tell me I know too much more than them.

I have a real interest in networking and security, I know the ins-and-outs of software, operating systems, and hardware, but its networking and security I really thrive on.

I believe knowledge is power and the more I gain the better I can be at what I do. I know my future is in the Technology business and I plan to gain as much knowledge as I can.

I am not perfect or do I think I am someone particularity special, all I possess is a gift that was given to me from birth for a thriving passion and high intelligence for computers.

Hacking is not something I know a lot about and I would love to learn more. I would only be interested in ethical hacking as I only use my knowledge for the good in the world.

Please, Chris consider my application for this wonderful opportunity in my life to further my education, further my knowledge and further my impact I can make in the world.

Thank you for your time, if you wish to contact me further please contact me via email.

Many thanks again,

Daniel Warrener
Computer and Technology Enthusiast

My name is Jorge Almazan, I am 17 years of age and I was born and raised in a small metropolitan area called McAllen, Texas; no more than 5 miles from the border of Mexico.

I know that I am rather young, but to a certain extent I have more experience with computers than most middle aged adults. I have been working with computers since I was merely two years old. I grew up with my grandmother in San Juan, Texas, where my uncle and role model, Rocky Lopez, took the liberty of slowly teaching me things about computers, technology, music, and life. My grandmother recalls a time when we were at the mall and the clerk was having a problem turning on his computer. All of a sudden the clerk noticed that the computer suddenly responded and looked down as he saw me crawling out from the bottom of the workstation after I had simply finished flipping the switch “ON” from the power supply. The clerk looked at my grandmother and said, “What did he do?!”. And my grandmother, being scared that I had broken the computer told the clerk that I had done nothing. The clerk then laughed and said, “No, your grandson fixed it!”. I know this my seem very insignificant. But back in 1993, how many two year old children be able to solve a problem that was far beyond the logic of a middle aged man?

By the age of 3, I helped my uncle run his small computer business by helping him replace things such as toner or ink cartridges on a printer and other things that my small size permitted me to do. At this same age I was able to type game codes for the old game Doom, before I even knew my ABC’s (IDDQD to access God mode). I was also able to easily open any program on MSDOS and do simple commands. At age 8, I built my first computer and learned to reformat other people’s computers.

In 2003 my uncle started his new business, that focused on improving health care with “paperless” offices and better security. Much of his clients are here in the area that I live in so it was inevitable that from then on, my uncle Rocky and I are inseparable. He calls me his business partner, and I call him mine. Despite the fact that my father has never been there for me, he has.

Now that I am a junior in high school I have accomplished a lot. I am the drum major of a Texas state qualifying marching band for 2 years running. I was awarded with the highest honor possible from being accepted into the 2009 TMEA All State Band for my individual work on trombone soloing. I am also currently taking classes at the university level to further my education. All this, while working with my uncle and our business.

The day that my uncle is gone, I would love to run his new business. Because of this, it is imperative for me to learn about hacking to further increase the protection of our clients and citizens of our community.

Mr. Pirillo, whether you believe that all of the above is irrelevant or not to what you are asking, so be it. There is no other way that I could minimize my reason for wanting this opportunity to learn and use it to benefit all those in my region. I would like to thank for this opportunity and for taking your time to read this comment.

Thank You!

-Jorge Almazan

I should get it cause I’m older than dirt but still hungry to learn. I started with computers back when it was just DOS and my computer was an IBM with a 286 processor amd I was running Wordperfect off of a 5 1/4″ floppy. :D

I think I should be the one to get this course because, I am going to try to be someone in the computer world. I don’t know what yet but, I have allot of learning gaps because, I just gather stuff from the internet that isn’t always reliable. I have been saving for a course similar to this and I’m not there yet, I come from a poor family so I can’t get any help there. So this is my only chance for awhile now. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to get this and, congratulations to who ever gets it.

In the world of computers, especially in networking, the knowledge of how to secure a computer in network is critical in today’s environment. I have always had a passion for technology and when my high school days came to an end, it was a very clear choice for me to pursue a career in computer networks and the methods on how to secure them. This course would put me ahead of the curb when I go out and hunt for a job and in my education. The generous gift of this course would greatly benefit me in my future career and I would be extremely grateful!

Greetings, I am Michael from South Australia. I am very interested in this course because of the valuable information and value of the course in general. I am nearly 16 years old and I am beginning to consider my future, along with my career options. I like many people who are posting comments, believe that I will be take on board the information and experience from this course and use it to my advantage.

This calls out to me as a striking oportunity, I am willing to spend a lot of my time on this venture. I consider myself reasonably experienced with computers so far (from what I’ve learnt in school so far). Although I’m not as experienced and knowledgable as most others who want to learn ethical hacking. If I take this course, it could be the one of the first major starting points for me in my future.

Either way, I want to try and learn about this some time. If you want to help me, it’s up to you. You’re assistance, by choosing me for the course could play a vital role in my computing education, as well as my future career. It would also make me a happy chappy :P

Thanks for reading this, and hopefully considering me. :)

I have been dealing with computers for many years and have a good, all-around knowledge. However, the intricacies of hacking have so far eluded me.

In these times of increased danger resulting from cyber attacks by foreign countries risking the security of our military and also our businesses and infrastructure, an in-depth knowledge of these techniques would be invaluable to help investigate and protect these points of vulnerability.

The techniques involved in intrusion detection, security analysis, etc., have always been fascinating to me. I remember watching the movie, “Sneakers”, and thinking being able to help businesses ensure the safety of their data would be so much fun as well as a worthwhile endeavor.

There is so much more to lose today than ever before as more and more of our lives and information reside in digital form on myriad servers in businesses we frequent. I would love to be able to help protect those assets. I’m not sure if the figures you hear on the commercials of someone having their identity stolen every 3 seconds are true, but the fact remains that it is a danger that happens more frequently than we probably know. I would love to be in the trenches helping protect this from happening as much as possible and to help apprehend the miscreants who perpetrate these crimes and ruin so many people’s lives.

Having been touched personally in my family with the tragedy of pedophiles and the toll they take on their victim’s lives and their families, I would be especially interested in learning the forensics part of the course. It intrigues me like a detective novel and there are no words to describe the satisfaction it would give me to be able to use the skills learned in this course to bring these types of people to justice to stop them from wreaking further damage on more victims. Other sorts of crimes that could be uncovered by forensic examination would be satisfying as well. The idea of using these techniques to bring wrongdoers to justice touches a source of satisfaction within me.

The fact that the current administration, whether you agree with it or not on many issues, has placed more of an emphasis on having a department more dedicated to cyber issues than ever before points out the increasing seriousness of these issues.

The opportunity to take this course would be something that I would never be able to do on my own due to finances. What a blessing and exciting pursuit it would be! However, I wouldn’t want the decision to be made on a financial basis because many people would be unable to afford the cost of this course. Rather, I hope that whomever decides who the recipient of this opportunity will be sees the drive and satisfaction and worthwhile contributions that I could make by possessing the information contained in the course.

Thank you for your consideration!

Hello Chris! My name is Keenan Patterson and I am a 14 year old from California who absolutely loves computer. I have been looking into a job in internet security for sometime now and it seems like it would be quite interesting. While I have tons to learn, I know a little bit about internet security.

In my town, I am the computer guru (and trust me you have helped a lot). If anybody has a problem, they usually call on me. I have helped teachers, neighbors, and family with their computers. From setting up the computer to setting up an entire web server on the computer, I have probably done it.

I would really enjoy this course in ethical hacking because it would be me an opportunity to learn about even more ways that computers are being attacked day by day. If you were to give it to me, I would thank you so,so much. Your website has already helped me find useful software and amazing web applications. Without you and your website, I wouldn’t be as far as I am right now n the computer.

I should get the hacker book because thats my dream to become a famous hacker and not just hacker “programist” as well. I know everybody have dreams but they need a chance to make their dream come tru ! so please give me the chance :D !

Dear Chris,

I need one of those books because I’ve had numerous viruses, trojan horses, malware, email viruses and every other technical bug that has infiltrated my computer. I would need to know how to remove them. I wouldn’t dig in deep and fork out $2,995 for a course because I simply cannot afford it.

My brother is usually too busy to assist me with removing the threats and he hates doing it.

I would like to understand where a hacker comes from and what they do both mentally and with the actions. I’m willing to dedicate my entire social life to hacking. I won’t use the hacking in a negative way to harm other people and their computers. If I read the book thoroughly I would learn some new information and material that could be educational. If I could learn the basic HTML material then that’s something that I could understand.

If I could come closer to understanding the Conficker virus and it’s harm then I can become smarter.

I’m willing to commit myself as a student and study my rear end off and hopefully pass the test and receive the final certification.

I’ve watched numerous movies that have had hackers in them. We want that guy on the computer who’s like “give me a minute”, “I just need one more minute”, “dude I need one more minute to hack into the main frame”, “I’m in friendster, they re-routed me into Friendster”. “I need a minute”.

I could also share the book with my brother because he is currently studying for some computer program certification. He has taken a Computer Science course in University.

Just from the limited amount of chapters that you described is too brief and not detailed enough for me to familiarize myself with.

Sincerely, Krysta

Plato once said, “The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life”. There is no doubt about it: education is the key factor in the success of an individual. In these hard economic times there is a huge amount of competition in the job world, and employers focus on two main things: Experience, and education. This three thousand dollar course is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it will surely change the life of the individual who earns it.

As for myself, I have been striving for success in the technology realm for years. I am currently enrolled in computer sciences courses for both c-plus (C++) and Java, but I fear the courses are holding me back. I have read multiple versions of books for programming languages to perfect my craft, but I am unable to afford the quality of education you are generously offering us here today. If I were to be selected for this opportunity, there would be nothing standing in my way; I would be able to further educate myself in computer security, and I am assured that it will enhance my odds of achieving the impossible — success.

My best regards,
Christopher Magee

Dear Chris

All my life I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for something I can aspire to, something that gives me reason to wake up in the morning. All my life I’ve been empty, and aimlessly searching until I hack this site.org. It just felt right, like that was what I was supposed to do from day one. Each time I went on it and completed a mission a felt that little bit more complete, that bit more whole. I made a decision there and then that this is what I want to do for my living. This is what I want, what a need, I need this because I simply can’t get the funding, and I do really need this for my core existence. Chris, you simply granting me, a humble boy of 15, this opportunity has made you my hero, you Chris have the power to allow me to achieve all I can in life, and for that I admire you.

It is up to you but please grant me this chance and fulfil a boys dream. Thank you for reading this and putting your own time into reading this, you are an example to us all.
And thank you for the community it has really helped me.

Jamie

Why should I get this course? Well I love computers and anything to do with them, I love fixing them when they break. If someone has a broken computer im right in there fixing it. But so far all I know if how to fix basic problems nothing extreme and I have always wanted to expand my knowledge of computers a lot more. My dream job is to work with computers (yeah pretty much anything), I dont want to be some ponce on a football field I was to be the kind of computer geek you see in oceans 11, and all the films like that. I want be to be the dude that someone says to “can you hack into the network?” and ill be like “already done!” Obviously im not actually going to be breaking into banks or whatever but I would love to know how they do it and how to stop them, from getting in. I am currently in my gap year so I have loads of free time too so the books wouldn’t go to waste. I would read them again and again until I know everything in them, then I would read it again just in case.

So yeah there are just a few reasons I would love this course. Thanks for the opportunity to do this, Jake

I think I should receive the course because I love computers and learning how to make them more secure. Every day, I spend about four to five hours on the computer looking at new ways to make my computer more secure and how to “tweak” my computer to my needs. I am currently enrolled in a private high school and I have all 100’s and 98’s. I have already skipped a grade and I am still bored. My parents have never seen me bring a book home to study. I’m only fourteen years of age, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try my hardest to learn about my passion. This summer I hope to work at a computer repair for free in exchange for the experience, unless I receive the course described in the video.

Best Wishes,
Jake Townsend

Dear Chris Parillo

I believe I am the one that should receive the course because I have a deep interest in everything technological and always have. Even since the days when i was a toddler i have tried to figure out how things work and I’ve always been drawn towards the technology side rather than mechanical. I’m just amazed by it all. I am a sophomore at Peters Township High School in Western Pennsylvania. Since given the chance to take the computer electives in my freshman year I’ve taken nearly every one I possibly could of. Ive taking a beginners programming class in the QBasic language (yeah old school) and I am taking a Beginners Java Course and a course in C++. I’ve scheduled for next year (my junior year) 3 more courses. An AP Java Programming class and two college high school classes taught by the university of Pitt. One being another Java Programming course and one in general advanced use of applications. I plan after high school to go to college(not sure where yet) and get either an associates degree or bachelors degree in Computer Science. Overall i would love this course to help save costs on education and gain valuable knowledge and certification in something that would greatly benefit myself and my future career. Thank you for taking the time to read my “application”.
Thanks again,
Griff Bogan

um… i should get the book just because i want it lol. i think that this is the best reason thats been posted so far.

well also add to that that i want to be a game designer… i feel that knowing this type of info… well… it will help me better with my work in the future.

I should recieve this because Iam a natural-born hacker. I voluntarily help Mozilla with Firefox security also I was one of the first people to make an Iphone unlock that did not need any hardware changes. For a while now I have used
Visual Basic to program software as a hobby.
I used to show our School IT technician how to make the schools IT invisible, intact it is he most technologically secure educational institute to this date!
I could not normaally aford thiscetificaton.
Thanks

Ever since I was seven years old I have been interested in “hackers”, not because i wanted to break into systems and make a nuisance of myself but because I was interested in how they managed to do it.

thirteen years on and I am a hard working student studying Computer systems security at University. I have officially been studying computer and security related topics for five years in addition to all the private research and learning I am doing in my spare time. My aim after finishing my university education is to become an “ethical hacker” or penetration tester and help organizations patch up there systems and stop the bad guys. I believe this course would greatly help me achieve my life-long goal. Being a student and spending money I don’t have on my education means that I am unable to pay for an expensive course such as this out of my already empty pockets.

This course would change my life,

Systix.

The reasons I would love to have this gift you have offered the geek community, Is simply from a very young age I have always loved technology. Everything about it fascinates me, I have built several computers of my own. Most of which I had to do with a veritable smorgasbord of mix matched parts I had found over the years. Even if the computer was absolutely horrid in performance, I was just thrilled that I was able to teach myself how they went together and make one that worked. I have always been a self educated geek. Everything I have learned has been through pain staking research through forums, chat rooms and the just plain “Trial and error” approach to things. For the past few years I have been trying to get into a decent community college in my neighborhood to get my CCNA & CCNP certifications. However my luck has always proved rather low, Every time I get ready to apply there has always been an financial distress that makes me put it off. Most recently our economical reception has caused me to lose my job. If I am lucky enough to be chosen as the winner for this giveaway, It will greatly help me getting my foot in the door for a better education, and career path. Thank you very much Chris for allowing some of us geeks a way for us to get started on our paths to future careers.

I would love this book as i love learning more about computers and how they operate and how far we can push them to make them more secure, better, faster, easier to use. I have always put a load of anti virus, anti malware software on my PC as i have always felt a little unsafe with just the one anti virus, anti malware even with a firewall i get loads of software to keep my computer as secure as it can be but with loads of anti-virus software’s working at once i can be a massive slow down so this is why i want this book to learn how hackers and viruses infiltrate the system making it insecure and unstable so i can stop them and make a counter attack to ensure my system is safe with just one piece of software and to further my knowledge so i can get into university to start a course in IT and computer science and then start making my own software to stop these viruses getting into your system and making surfing the net and downloading as secure as just having the router turned off.

I would be honored to recieve the grant for the eithical hacker training course to prepare me for my future carreer of securing systems around the United States. In my experience, I have been incredibally weathered with bypasing mainframes and firewalls, partly developing for Apple Computer and securing third-party applications in the beta stage. In addition, I am very fluent with many languages. Alongside learning Spanish, I am fluent with Cocoa, semi-fluent with C++ and in the process of learning Java. Unix itself is not as complicated with me and I have remembered the Binary Alphabet. As for building computers from the ground up, I have welded some circuitry for my homebrew projects. I know well what a transistor, capacitor, resistors (in common) and just about every other known device does. I am only 15 and view this opportunity as a great resume addition!

I want this so bad! My name is Brian and I’m going to be 18 on July 23rd.Ever since I was 5 my father taught me how to work with computers. He is a computer person like me.At the age of 7 I was able to build a computer from scratch in about 20 minutes. But at the age of 8 my father moved away.As of now my knowledge has far surpassed his.As of now I am helping a lot of my teachers at my high school. The school district doesn’t want me to do this, but even my principle has had me fix his machine at times. Chris I feel I should get this great opportunity because my family is not one that can afford luxurious things.I tried to apply to some colleges through the EOP program. The EOP program stands for Educational Opportunity Program.I want to go to college for networking and cyber security. To my amazement I got into SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Plattsburgh, and SUNY Fredonia without EOP.I still feel that even with my background in computers I would still be behind the rest of my peers so it would be so beneficial if I could Get this opportunity to further my knowledge.

Chris,

With the way our future is turning out and the state of our country becoming more dependent on technology, I believe there is every reason for trained ethical hackers.

There are certainly a host of qualified people, readily available on the internet who are proclaimed or real hackers. However I believe that I can be one who can achieve what it takes to be an ethical hacker. Most of the people who post on this blog can testify to the fact that our society and country can use this service to protect the security of information in our country.

With a gift like the one you are offering I can most certainly put it to good use in furthering my education in the IT field and being a service to my country, home and community. I have always had the desire to learn and expand technology. I also poses the desire to disassemble something and see how and why it works. Most importantly I have the mindset of the need for information security and the reason why it needs to be protected. I already poses the skill set able to accomplish the course and a grand desire to further those skills to help others with my knowledge.

Chris if you bestow that gift to me, I will surely be grateful, honored, and full of desire and self ambition to complete the course.

Thank you and have a blessed day.

Hi Chris ,
I am not going to use fancy vocabulary to impress you. Before I answer to your question why me, I am going to give You some background information on my life. I became really interested in hacking when I saw the movie hackers back in 1995 later on when I became 17 ,I asked my father to buy me a computer, but I already knew he didn’t have enough money , so I started working with him on a construction site, and started saving money while still helping my family. I worked all the summer holiday and finally I bought myself all the parts needed for the pc . I wanted to learn how to assemble it and was lucky when the pc shop owner agreed in teaching me to do so. Later on when I got my 56k modem the first thing I did was searching for some hacking information and some hacker friends over the web. When I graduated from high school my parents couldn’t afford to send me to a university so I searched for a job in the IT field , luckily enough I started working in a computer shop as a pc technician. The salary was poor because I was a rookie , but I didn’t mind that. I quickly picked up the pace and handled almost the 70% percent of the pc’s for repair while my colleagues were out for outside jobs I lasted an year and a half working almost 9 hours every day for the same poor salary while other guys that started working with me didn’t even last 3 months with the same money , I learned to deal with every error without help and eventually realized I have learned almost everything the older technicians knew and should get some more money for my services, so I quit because the boss didn’t want to raise my salary . I am now 20 years old and without a job.
Now, here’s the answer to your question, why me?
Well because I want to learn more than
any other person in here . Because I need that knowledge more than any other person here. Because I know what it is to struggle more than any other person here. If you give Me that opportunity to gain that knowledge I will use it to advance in my life because I don’t have the economic opportunity to do so by myself . So please , I beg you give it to me. If you do You will know that these Three Thousand dollars didn’t go to waste.

I would love to become an ethical hacker. I think it would greatly boost my education as well as computer knowledge. I am 22 and want to see my career take a big jumpstart. This is a great offer that i would to take advantage of. Please choose me!

I am 34 and just now starting a career change. I just received my Bachelors in IT and Computer Systems 2 years ago. I am going be opening a gaming and training center in the near future. I think I could use this information to better my community and myself.

I am person who is very involved in my community and have done many volunteer projects. These projects have led me to want to train and inform people of how to keep themselves safe on the internet. My computer center is going to be focused on gaming but, I also have a unique opportunity to make it a training center but, I want to focus more on consumers and less on business. I don’t want to scare people just make them feel a little more safe.

If you choose me I will use this class to better myself and the community. I am a very good with computers but, this would help me better myself to help others.

Thank You.

I most likely wont give a good enough reason as our fellow friends above but heres my excuse

I am a british guy, 18 years old and i have been studying computers since 12.

I have recently spend my time on a course gaining my MCP MCDST, i also got a Comptia A+, aswell as my NVQ and ADITP

But besides my greades, ive always loved computers, i currently have 3 books about ethical hacking, describing past events and possible exploits.

I always want to find myself to be a White Hat Hacker, even though with full ethics counted for people will believe you to be a grey hat hacker or even black hat hacker…sadly the world is like that. And due to the dual use of tools, its hard to tell the difference sometimes

I want to take a Comptia Security + course at a college but when i went apparenrly i was the only person in a couple years to show interest in that subject, so they removed it from there list.

I wish to take this because i have always shown an interest in technology since i was a young child and i continue to do so today, I have dabbled in all types of tools to gain experience and talked to people all over the world to share tips and tricks.

Sadly due to the economy it is hard for me to find a job, thus wanting to go to college to gain more experience, but if i could i would save up for this course, but to have the chance to take it for free would be more then a honour.

I do wish to go into the world of computer security, because i have always been fasinated how people are able to find out ways to exploite systems but never do it for the means of harm, they find the exploite simply because they enjoy there work. And that is a sector i would only wish to get into.

I dont expect to be picked for this, I only wish to share that i show alot of interest in the world of ethical hacking and system security, and that i would like to beable to have a chance at a life & carreer changing oppourtunity

I think that I should receive the full ethical hacking course from EC-Council because it will help to give me a head start for college. I will be either triple-majoring in Computer Science, Math, and Interactive Gaming (game programming and design) or double-majoring in Computer Science and Interactive gaming with a minor in Math. My passion has been computers for as long as I am remember. I have mowed my neighbors lawns since I was eight years old (I’m 18 now) so that I could afford the latest and greatest technology. Mowing has taught me the value of hard work and through my purchases I have had the opportunity to learn so much. I am always trying new things out and with those trials come many problems which I then have to learn to fix.
I use Mac OS X Leopard and Ubuntu linux daily and have a cheap server setup running Ubuntu 8.04 Server. One of my main concerns when running my server is security and I often wonder how easy it would be to hack into it, or my other computers to steal my personal information. I also feel that having hacking knowledge would help me greatly throughout college and open doors for me upon graduation. I love learning and I feel that knowledge in security is vital to my success in the computer industry. With this gift I will be able to be better prepared for my future career during and after college.

I am in college right now for computer programming analyst, it would be a very important resource for me to implement programming tools to protect personal computers from harm. I am also looking to go to a university for robotic engineering. Ever since i was little, computer programs and hardware fascinated me. From an atari to teaching my son how to play PS3 and Xbox 360 I include technology in all my family and friends lives. They call me the high tech red neck, because i can fix anything even your electronics. Electricity and binary language is my sixth sense, I feel at one with them. This is a very great opportunity for any person to learn ethics and hacking at the same time. Even our own government sees the need to hire hackers for protection, they were at this last years Defcon conference in Vegas. I would love to get this package or see someone with the same passion as some of the geeks before me.

hi i do not know who are you i just watch your video now.i do not need money i need education i m living in pakistan.and pakistan is very poor in education so i need your help.

I would love to learn to become an ethical hacker. And much like your little pooch on the video, without this opportunity all I will ever do is just lick it.
I should be the person to receive this course for free because I’m also a stay home mother of 3 and I’m looking to further my education to give and provide my family with a better life style and what better way to do it but with something I would love to know how to do.
I want my family to be proud of me. To show them that you should always strive for what you wish for.
Also, to be able to serve and protect the public from malicious hackers who destroy many lives by stealing their identities and fill their computers with nasty viruses.
This would be the greatest opportunity for me if I win this free course. So many doors would open up and I assure many more people would benefit from this. It would be an honor to give back what I have learned and I won’t disappoint anyone.
It is my word.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate.
FeawGuita.

Dear Chris,
I need this amazing opportunity to receive this powerful information. This incredible offer could enable me to expand my knowledge base and assist me in what I hope to be my future profession. If I could be fortunate enough to be awarded these books it would help me now and throughout the rest of my life with not only understanding computer security but help me get through college in a few years. So Chirs if you could please award me with this wonderful opportunity of being able understand another part of the machine I use everyday I would be grateful for many years to come.

, Gamer2502

I believe I am the one that should receive the course because I have a deep interest in everything Hacker Im Only 13 Love Be Hacker

It would be nice to improve my life. I have been disabled for several year and the only thing can do is use the compute. Being able to take this course would greatly inprove my life

I’m going to start off saying I don’t know what to write about. Whether or not that’s good or bad, doesn’t really matter either way, since what actually matters is the depth of the content I submit.
I’m a person who’s at a loss in life. I, like so many others, don’t know what I want to do with myself. I’m in school, but I have no idea what to study thus far. I have changed my major a few times, but those majors have always been science-related. I absolutely love everything that deals with science, but I’m not that enthusiastic about working on some of them. It may seem like maybe I’m simply a lazy guy, but taking classes, I have yet to find any passion for any of the things I’ve learned. I really don’t mind work, as long as I have the passion for it, and so far everything up to this point has been a disappointment.
The one thing I have found myself to be very passionate about, as I’m sure everyone else who is commenting on this blog is, is computers. However, I still consider myself a baby when it comes to them, seeing as I haven’t learned programming of any kind. All I have is the basic knowledge of using and fixing computers. Today, for example, I set up my neighbor’s computers (set up a new computer, installed cameras, installed ubuntu ;) on another because a virus hit it pretty hard, and they didn’t have the recovery CD). Sure, this isn’t anything big, but what matters is how excited I was to work between computers, checking progress, making sure everything was going smoothly.
I would appreciate this chance, because although I’m going to school (a Community College, by the way), I still find it hard to afford it. For this reason, I’ve had to take a break from it until I can find a job, so that I’ll have enough money next semester. I know this is sounding like I’m asking for money (hahaha), but any opportunity to learn FOR FREE is ridiculous…ly good, in my mind. Even if I can’t make the money for paying for classes, at least I would have this, which I think would more than make up for it.
Regardless of whether or not I’m able to get this course, maybe it’ll interest you to hear numerous stories from people all over, and what drives them to comment. I’m teaching myself some programming anyways, and I’m taking some programming courses in my fall semester too, so either way, I’m jump-starting my career too.

I’ve kind of run out of things to say. I poured out what I could! Hah, I guess now we’ll see how things go. I wish good luck to everyone! At least someone will have a chance to increase their arsenal of technical knowledge…

Hey Chris this special opportunity you are giving somebody with these books is a great chance for some lucky person to excel within their I.T. career and I think it is great that you are doing this. The reason I think I deserve this certification is because I am a young hard working individual who is in his grade 11 year of high school and has a strong work ethic, great attention to detail, sincere love for technology. I am already pursuing my education in the I.T. field. In a couple of weeks I should have my A+ certification and plans to get more I.T. related certificates along with my study of Information Technology in college after i graduate next year. I currently am able to fluently write code in C++, Python and Visual Basic with a fair knowledge of LInux/Unix I think this course will help out tremendously within my future career because having a strong network defense is the key to keeping sensitive data safe within a network and the only way to beat a hacker at his own game is to think like a hacker. Joseph Pappel

Chris,
I”ve got to have this program. Just turned on to your feed. Wow! Anyway, back to to issue at hand. I want to learn anything and everything I can. Why not, like you said they can’t take an education away. Thanks for the chance for more. JM

In my opinion, and the opinion of others in any type of technological field, hackers are a powerful force. Sort of like the Jedi of the real-life universe. With the ability to do things that people without the required training or experience would think impossible, Hackers have become known as the “dark-side” of the technological spectrum. Usually associated with any type of disaster ranging from a computer crashing to the corruption of the United States cabinet and economical structure, hackers have gotten a bad reputation for things that only a select few have actually done.

Hackers by definition are simply programmers that have somehow broken into the code of a program, website, or operating system in order to do something that they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to. For the most part the end result is a simple joke done to amuse the hacker or even just a test to see if it was possible in the first place, but on the other side of this spectrum are people that are breaking into government systems and bank computers in order to facilitate an easier life for his- or herself or to put a knife in the ribs of an adversary (or at least an assumed adversary).

In the hunting world the most elusive and competitive prey is another human being. There’s nothing more true in the world of computers. Breaking a security system or government network is a very difficult task but it doesn’t even compare to competing against another person equally skilled at the task. Stopping an attack on a security system or identifying an intruder or attacker is a thrill that only a select few can experience and it’s something I’d like to do for myself. Becoming an ethical hacker in order to stop those without ethics is an ideal situation for those of us with the skills and mindset to do it.

Thanks to Chris for this opportunity.

This is the oppurtunity I have been waiting my entire life for and never even knew it. Growing up in a household with a drug addicted mother and no father education and computers in general have always been my escape. In the fifth grade use to have me fix her computers in class now they were not very advanced just some early 90’s apples, but I loved the escape that being in control of a computer brought me. I grew up delved more into computers and recently started college to get my degree in computer network security. My instructor for my newtworking class informed us on this certification as it is one he actually holds and I wanted it so bad. When I heard the cost my heart dropped because I knew there was no way I could ever afford that. If I was given this oppurtunity I would not waste it as it would be the biggest oppurtunity in my life.
Even if I am not chosen I appreciate the offer from the bottom of my heart and wish the recipient of this opportunity all the luck in world. Thank you.

I think I should become a Hacker.
Why? To create “100%” anti-viruses sold for a certain price, make a deadly virus that will destroy your personal files, and create a better anti-virus to defeat that. Vicious circle ;)
But in truth, it’s the way people make money in general, and I guess being a hacker or a programmer isn’t much a difference.
My life has always been about computers, I have played many games, and you are absolutely right… I don’t go any further then a scripter. Maybe I know a thing or two, but not enough to have any significant income. Anyways, 3,000$ isn’t chumps money… and money invested in a small time hacker/programmer will sure to make you income. I believe I can make you that income. I am 16, I am new, but old in experience.
Truth be told, there are many contenders with drop-dead wizzy coments, but can they play in the field for real?
I can.

Hey man ive been out of school for two years now studying c++, php, basic, visual basic all these Ive taught to myself with no help I learned c++ from a online tutorial and basically taught myself the rest.. Im into exploits and website security Im good at finding holes in security for companys or website but im not really that great at it. I can take source codes of any kind of program and piece it together and know how it works within hours or a day at the most…. I could use this it would help me alot in my practices because I plan on doing this for a full time job. Ive been teaching myself all this coding, scripting, and in general computer hacking. Id like to say I have a major in encrypting files so there undetectable but it is not perfect yet..I could really use this man it would help me soo much and would help me get a good boost on to my career.. THANKS ALOT!

Hi chris! I believe I am the one for this class because I have been very interested in hacking (Whitehat of course) since october 09 and I can truly say I have learned such a huge amount of security, coding, hacking, networking, and much more in a very short period. I have found, and reported, flaws in a few government sites and also many other websites. I have read, studied, and pursued this profession and have enjoyed it the whole time. I am a very fast learner and extremely interested in pursuing security testing/penetration testing as a career. I just have a passion for hacking and it’s would blow my mind to be chosen. Please consider me and email me if possible… Thanks so much, Luke Smith.

Right now I’m studying forensic science at my local college which also includes learning about forensic informatics, but what we learn during those lessons is very limited. I would certainly call myself a computer expert, but only in the field of hardware & performance.

I’m interested in computer security, I’ve been interested in how hackers work for a few years, and I’ve been wanting to expand my horizon in such a complex field of study but never been able to find the right resources to start gaining information from, even on the internet, hopefully if I receive one of these books i can enrich my knowledge and maybe even start work for Microsoft or a major security software producer.

If you just so happen to pick me then many thanks Chris.

Hey Chris I’m a big fan! That’s not the reason why I’m commenting though. I believe i deserve this great privilege because I plan to go in this career field. This summer i will be working for one of my dads friends who fixes and sets up security for a school district. I plan to do the same. It would be helpful to learn many things about security and hacking so no one can sneak past.
I hope you don’t think this is just some story to get you to do this for me, if you would like a verification you can email me at technerd985@yahoo.com or email me and i can send you my parents email because i don’t want to put there email out there with out there consent.

Chris,

This opportunity could be life changing for me and my family. I’m 24 with two children and am now disabled. Two years ago I was working as a corrections officer and severely damaged my spine. My family and i have had to move to low income housing because we cannot afford an apartment with out my income. I have had to have multiple surgery’s with hopes of one day being normal again.

I was taking College Classes to be a full time police officer when i got hurt. I was two quarters away from graduation, but unfortunately i’m unable to take the physical fitness tests to do my dream job.

The opportunity you present would allow be another opportunity in my field and another chance for my family. With a job I could physically be able to do. I have always been very intrigued with technology and how it works. I have been told “You hack to learn. Not learn to hack” with technology growing rapidly this could give me a one up on something I enjoy Computers, and bettering society. Please take me in to consideration for the free class.

Please change my above Email to the one I posed in this comment. My college Email is no longer valid thank you.

I wanna become a hacker becouse want to be better from my friends – computer hacking skills.(computer hacking skills) I mean to answer a lot of questions that they make me – how to do this… how to hack this…
But the other reason is : I wan’t to be a hacker to secure my pc from anonymos hacker , who always hack on my IP, he hack my accounts (from different sites)… Idon’t know how does he do that but I’m sure maybe someone help that anonymous hacker.

Yo 0.o
Why do i wana be a hacker? well not just a hacker
I wana be the greatest hacker in the world !!!! lol
nahh……theres something about hacking…………..
I dont know what it is…..When i was a little kid i always wana become a hacker just like my cousin T_T but i dint have time so mutch to do ..more than hacking i must face and secure my future than hacking…in other words (bussy in school) in my life i just prioritize school and playing soccer. But i sucked!!!!!
i was a lozer and dint come out in the house or in my room…
I just face my computer all day, watching porno vids’ !! lol
THAT WAS A JOKE!! well sometimes i watch porno……………
then i said to my self ..my computer is like my best friend now
besides my dog but my dog died anyways.
then i desided yesterday that I WANA BE A HACKER!!!!!!!!!
so i watched youtube.com all about hacker or hacking
so i watched this and i desided to tell my sad story T_T

so if its the only way to be a hacker I WOULD TAKE this chance to explore my inside hacker self!!!!!

Thank you for showing me that you are indeed a human being with sincere feelings and that you also didn’t just delete Gerald’s page. Very cool.

Computers run the world. Learning how secure them through the eyes of the predators is a great opportunity. An opportunity I think I deserve. Give me a shot!

Mark from Coventry, RI

when i was child from that time i want learn to hack. now i want to become hacker and i have many sites but i cant get n finally i got ur site n i thought i can become a hacker n learn from u. in every field i want to become best hacker

Chris i think should get the hacer books i don’t have experience with computers and i think my computer isn’t secure.
Thank you!

i want to know about the world of hacking as i feel i was born for it. i never belived in theories so i am here to learn the practical but effective way b,coz if you have read how to eat but cannot chew you will die.

the word hacking has always made me go grag myself towards it, i watched many videos of how to hack but all seemed useless. but when i saw your video i felt that i foud a tourch in the deep dark. so think about it if i could become that one….

also, your dog is cute…..

Hacking is considered ‘wrong’
Ethical Hacking is being considered as ‘Right’

Trying to do learn and Implement the ‘right’ thing , so that the ‘wrong’ People do not take the Advantage and Cheat the common man Must be GOOD.

I want to help by taking this course.

Cheers

hello chris I am an administrator in healthcare and i need help! becourse have been twice hacked and now I want to protect sonneburgh against them who %^$%^people and protect patients thanks for your great help

y0 chris,

now u might be thinking wat a 12 year old would want with hacking books. well about 1 year ago my computer recived a trojan virus. i was pissed but i thought to myself. why would anti virus and microsoft let a virus from a black or grey hat hacker infect my pc? it just is not fair … from that day on i wanted to be a white hat hacker. i used to think it was hillarous when my parents windows 95 computer got the sircam worm …but when i got a virus it was no joke. i started to surf the internet looking every where for somthing to give me the knowledge i need to protect computers from black hats…. i am still searching for that info . these books would wonderful and much apreciated … i understand if u did not want to waste this knowledge on a 12 year old…but this is my thing

First, I would like to be a CEH, so that I can put my photo onto the banner of chris.pirillo.com

Then I would use my new hacker powers for good by making the interweb a more secure resource for humanity.

Hi,

Im going to keep this simple basically I want to become a ethical hacker because I want to be able to have the defence that everyone using a computer deserves and you will by investing in me to go on this course your investing in a future. All I can say Please. I want this bad. =)

Thx!

computer sicuriuty is a part of my life andliving. i get to learn about how to keep the system/network safe but from a side of we dont know. HACKER
learnning about hacking will help to understant the attake and get a better privention to the system/networ

so i think i should have this course

Well, i want to continue to learn more of my computer skills. This will learn me Securty to websites etc. so i know what to do if i make an site :D

Its all about networking thesedays and im a qualified network engineer and I’m lackig in my security side and as a start this maybe handy to understand what type of mistakes we do when configuring and maybe help out with companies and become a pro

My name is Isabel, I am only 11 years old but i am serious about computers. If I am going to obtain my dream job i would need to know a lot about computers. I know there are a lot of people that have aplied but I beleive that I deserve this. Thank you for your time.

well i think i should get the the course, because i always put a lot of effort on everything, and that i wouldn’t let something like this go to waste. I would do anything to get the course and make everything more secure. This in front of me is a chance that i never had, but now here it is. I have always dreamed of becoming someone important to make my family proud of me. i know many people is going to read this and is probably going to laugh about me, but what do they know about me? well i just would love to get this one course not only to make things more secure but to help my family and other people. My chances of wining this course are very low, but am still going to try my best even if my speaking and writing still limited and i cant express myself very well because of my time been in the U.S. (less than 3 years). I would love to get the course to be more prepared, am a smart person that never gives up and that always tries to always find a solution to any kind of problems, i would do anything to be able to get this course i want to help people, i want to make things more secure, and i want to help my family economically. Chris, i think you would do the same for your family. well chris i hope to win that course and i hope that you were able to understand what i was trying to say okay well see you.

always remember that “COMPUTERS ARE THE FUTURE”

Hey chris ! I think that this course would be a great help to me in the sence that I would be able to lern mroe about computers in general. And that I would be able to lern more about hacking also. I am qualified for the course in that I have experiance with over 16 diffrent programing languages including my own. And I have advanced knowledge of both windows and lunix operation systems. I have also passed the microsoft certifacation test, although I do not have plans of working there. By taking this course I could then implament my knowledge lernt by making the internet, in general, a safer place. I also intend to get a job with the csa which requiers adcanced knowledge of, well, hacking. Thanks for reading my comment, peace !

Chris,

I feel that I deserve this course because I have seen alot of innocent people’s computers and servers go down. I would also love to expand my horizon on the security field and defend major networks from any attacks. I do apologize for my horrible, crappy usage of punctuation. I feel that I would be the right one to be chosen for this.

First, let me just congratulate you on this great contest. It’s going to be a tough one to decide, I’m sure.

Alright, to the meat we go…

My name is Naffy, and I am from Israel. I have been brought up in a very poor and harsh environment, but so far so good, I have managed to get up from the dirt and create myself what resembles a normal life.

I’m totally in love with computers, and especially anything that borders the security lines. I so much want to learn more about hacking and security, and can’t even describe how much I die to get this course.

I really don’t have even 5 percent of the money that would be required to buy the books and the course, but my thirst for knowledge is so strong. In fact, using just the internet, I have learned quite a lot about programming, but since I cannot afford too many books I’m still waiting for the day when I will be able to learn all I want.

I would very much appreciate if you would choose me as the winner of this contest, because if it’s not going to happen this time, I’m not sure if it ever will, because in contrast to other people who may have the means to acquire these books on their own, I really don’t.

Thanks so much, and have a wonderful day.

Love and Peace.

Hi, my name is Paudie and I hail from the green Paddy fields of Ireland. I think I should get the course as I am a young guy who wants to pursue a career in Computer Science and Security. I think this will give me a head start in the field before attending college. I Have spent alot of time, money and my own resources to try and learn what I can about countermeasures and ethical hacking and I think this would be a perfect place to start as I have had no luck in the past only paying for useless information. I chose to do this line of career as I am completely fasinated by computers, the internet and all the new technologies. Believe me if I see a new item and want it ,I buy just so I can break it down and see whats inside. It would be much appreciated to be given the chance to take this course and even better to get it from one of the all time great live streamers and technology guru’s.
My Best Regards
Paudie

Hello and thanks for putting up this great contest. Now I know people would say I want to be the one who should get this course or they would make up a story or something like that. But before I tell you why I should be hacker I must tell you I am not an American I am an Indian. Oh then you would say Education doesn’t belong to race or ethnicity its all over the world and how you handle it or show your skills.
OK! So I think I should get this course because, two reasons:
- I am only 15 and I am still learning computer courses like A+ computer repair and I am applying for scholarship
- I cannot do heavy work like a job at a gas station because one of my had a surgery and is really weak. So I made up my mind to go into the technical field.

I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE GOING TO READ OH…… I don’t know, lets say thousand comments saying I should be the one to get this and mine would be like a small ant but I made my point there is no need exaggerate. So if I am not selected I wouldn’t go oh why wasn’t I selected instead I would be happy that atleast there was some chance of me being the one to have this course.(1 in 1000)

I beleive that I deserve this program because I have tried for almost a year now looking on the internet i have come across many things “i must say the movie live free or die hard really impacted my want to become a ethical hacker because it scared me to think one small organization riding around in a semi truck could do all that”so i am ready for this course and i derserve it more than anyone here i know that if i have all the knowledge nessecary for being a ethical hacker i will protect the innocent and punish the guilty. And just for your information if I dont receive this program i can always find it on thepiratebay.org or mininova.org or sumthing like that so yeah im not paying your sorry ass 3000 dollars for a dang book or computer software when i can just steal it so either be stole from or give freely its your choice

i m from morocco , i want be the one to get those courses becouse i think god had send me for helping people ,i think hacking it s one way to help other (sorry i m not god at english) those courses will help to do complete my mission in this world
thanks lot!!

i think i deserve to take this course because i dont have opportunities to do things like this, coming from a family with many siblings, i dont ever get much, and i hope to go to college after high school to become a computer engineer. i take many classes in high school, network repair and troubleshooting i will be taking this comming year, i hope i get this opportunity to do this. Thanks, Craig

Hi Chris,

I won’t make it long, i would like to take this opportunity or chance to complet my knowlegde into this unlimited domain of secuirity. My profession is anything related to my big passion for Computers, so i hope getting that course.

Greeting
A

Hi,

The truth is I really deserve these books, perhaps more than anybody else, the reason is that I have a great ambition in the field of informatics, especially hacking and security. Currently I have medium experience in hacking and security and I really want to develop and make my abilities stronger, and be of cours an Ethical Hacker, and use my abilities to help stoping the Indiscriminate and devastating hackers.
I am currently learning the programming of C+ +, because I know that a hacker must learn at least 5 of the programming languages in order to be a good one,
The second reason is I intend to study this domain and get a computer security profession.

Good Luck for you and for all who want the courses.

Thank you.

cos i am better than my computer teacher in school
and wanna become much better than that =D
(Really) @.@

I would like to become an ethical hacker because the economy is terrible now and by me having a felony in the past it is impossible for me to get any jobs that may be hiring. I’m not some tech nerd or geek I am a regular person that is just not computer illiterate. I have the brainpower to master this course and I know I can be great at this. I Need this!!! Consider me and I will strive to be the best student you’ve ever come across.

Hello Chris I’m Willing to be an Ethical Hacker ! So Could I have This Chance ?!!

can you help plz to be a hacker i want so much to be

As long as I can remember I have love to make things. Be it with my Lincoln logs, erector set or with the models I’ve built through my youth. That has been a gift, to be able to create, for as long as I can remember. I’ve taught myself mostly by reverse engineering things that were broken. Only to be surprised to find out that after they where reassembled they work as they had done before they were deemed inoperative.
Upon graduating high school I enlisted into the service and spent a time doing general maintenance on airframes. This is where I got my first introduction to the computer world. We did are documentation on a dumb terminal environment call Computer Automated Maintenance Systems or CAMS for short. I soon found out how to send messages from one terminal to another, taught others how to do it and poof we had an early version of messenger going. The station or PID number would be attached to the message sent to the receiving terminal so that one could reply. Each station had two screen thus two PID numbers. One day I was on PID 667 with the other ID being 666….My mind started to ponder….”what if!!” what if I, instead of sending a message to a PID number, what if I typed “all”. Of course I tried using the terminal number 666 with some sort of silly suggestive message appropriate for that ID and hit return. Well it was about 20 minutes before they trace the location to that message and that’s when I found out just how far reaching that message flew. Let’s just say I’m glad that a stern look, a slight smile, and a strongly suggested threat of never again were all that transpired. It was too late I was hooked.
I strayed from the PC path to try another type of fabrication. I did some time at the tech college, after the service, for welding and metal fabrication. I work in that arena for long enough time to crush a toe, loose multiple finger nails and be passed by for shop manager a few times. I sat with the Misses and we concluded that thinking more and grunting less would enable there to be enough left of me to retire at some time. So it was decided to re investigate my interest in computers.
To code or not to code….After long discussions with counselors, advisers and folks who where in the practice of PC work, it was concluded that Network engineer would be the avenue to travel down. With that choice I soon became a MCSE for NT4.0 and have been continuing on since.
I can’t say that the networking path has been a wrong choice but part of me knows the value of writing code either as scripts or application. I also realize that Microsoft is not “all it” either. This great big bundle of Operating Systems, Kernels, Applications, Routing and wireless connectivity all work together as an assembly to form an entity all its own. This….this machine, this structure, this network so many parts, all working together in unison to provide the services that they were constructed to provide, but how?
To build a network is simple anyone can do it now days. Call an ISP, get a cable modem, grab some cat cables plug it all in and poof, network. It’s a basic one but none the less a network.
To make a really good network I had read you need to know everything about everything. Routing IOS, Services, Ports, ISO layer constructs and how they work together.
A hacker, cracker whichever side they may choose needs to know systems at this level to do what they do. They truly are a master at being able to either create the best network possible or wreak havoc to it.
To be the best, that’s what I want. I want to be the best at being able to understand each piece of the equation that is a network. I want to be able to build the most secure infrastructure I know how thus making the networks for clients to be ones they can come to feel secure with to maintain and manage their company data. If I understand how to take it apart to get into the machine, then I know the machine, and can put it together and see it work well. That’s the first reason; the second is when not building my own I can test others work, educate users and expand secure network practice to not only myself but to the community of which I live. Share the wealth and reap the benefits. No sense is being stingy with the knowledge.

I think I deserve to take this course because I have been hacking for one and a half years and I want to learn as much as possible as well as becoming a CEH.

First of all, let me just say that I am not interested in winning the certification course. I would rather earn my success using my own hard earned money and effort. It confounds me that everyone wants the easy way out and that they want it for free.

The reason I am leaving this comment is because it seems to me that there are a lot of young adults, fresh out of high school leaving posts here. So here is a little advice from someone who has built a successful business from the ground up and is now back at the beginner’s stage, building a new career in a new field:

Presentation is everything. Improper spelling, capitalization, missing words, sentences that don’t flow, and overuse of exclamation points won’t get you anywhere in the real world.

Trust me. I have hired and fired several employees, but the applicants making the mistakes mentioned above would never even get a foot in the door with me. Same goes for any other employer. If you write like an idiot, we will assume that is what you are. And believe me, that is exactly how we see you. If you are not going to take the time to think about what you are writing or proofread your work, you will not get anywhere.

I would love to be a ethical hacker beacuse ever since i watched “take down” with kevin Mitnick it truely inspired me to look into this field. The reason why that movie really opened me eyes were these hackers who like to do bad and steal information from regular ordinary people, and then use it to ruin there lives really piss me off. There was this one lady in the news who had $400,000 stolen from her and this hacker she didnt even know came to her and helped her retrieve it back. I want to be that guy to help and secure people from anything that ruins there lives. My family and i are in debt right now and there is no money for me to go to college. This would be such a miracle for us, for our income. I would just like to say thank you for the opportunity, please take me into consideration.

I deserve the course because, i will became a hacker, with it or without it, i decided I’d became a hacker since i first knew what a hacker was 10 years ago (hacker in its real sense, not cracker, nor script kiddie, nor frustrated wannabes, nor lam*rs, etc).

I deserve it cause i have the spirit of a real hacker, which intends to go beyond the task itself of doing something just for money, where hacking or working or gaming turns the same as you you are so deep inside what you doing.

I deserve it, cause of all people here, I will be a hacker, do the impossible, I’d even eventually get this course one way or another, and other courses I’m looking for.

I want the course, I’ve always wanted it since i knew about them couple years ago.

I deserve it cause i really know the old school meaning of hacking, like for example kicking your TV to fix it up…

Most important i will never give up, I’ve even go some plans
for leader Google, by impossible it sounds …

I deserve it, cause i will be a hacker.

I don’t see the post i did, i wonder if i got deleted by a bot or something.
I’m pretty sure i should get the course as I’m sure 1 + 1 are 10

Hi Chris,
I would love an opportunity to take a free hacking course (I would love an opportunity to take any hacking course really, but as a senior in high school $3000 doesn’t just really work). I have been interested in hacking and programming since roughly my freshman year of high school when my grandpa showed me programming. Ever since I have been always on the hunt for more knowledge, and bought three hacking books and various other programming books (I recommend ‘Hacking: the Art of Exploitation’ by Jon Erikson to any of you other non $3000 holding folks who are highly motivated and interested in the subject). I also spend ridiculous amounts of time on the internet finding various little hacking tidbits (there’s not a lot out there), keeping a security website from being overwhelmed with spam as most of the original userbase seems to have vanished (www.securityforest.net) and wishing I had more money to buy more books. I know a bit of C++ and Python and am working on learning more this year. With the rest of my time that I don’t spend slowly learning computer security I bother my mom about taking an HTML and CSS class, learn cryptography, and set up a squid server because it’s fun. I definitely plan on majoring in computer science when I go to college, and will very likely make computer security my career, but waiting until next year is really really boring. But now that I’ve beaten Chris over the head with my computing obsession/life story, I just want to reiterate that it would be awesome if I won (assuming the contest is still going, it’s not totally clear), and I wish the rest of you luck. Say ‘hi’ to Wicket for me.
Thanks,
Brendan Compton

Hello, I am an online addict. Actually, I have learned a lot of my skills through online courses, books, etc. My real work is legitimate. I work for a training school for students who would like to learn more about IT, online courses, etc. I believe, I have the morality, enough responsibility and enough knowledge to handle the power within that book. Further, it will definitely make me more knowledgeable about ethical hacking and can share responsible actions to students when transacting or working online. I believe I deserve that book as I want to contribute positively to the world of IT and the world wide web. Thanks.

Want to be a HacKer. Just That !! coz hacker’s don’t waste time in writing English essays..lolz !! :-)

let me star by said that anti hacker is the cools imformation that someone could learn or have the abiliti to excel in every way . my theory is that computer are going to excel in quantum mechanis and we going to become more link and live like a computer so please read and comment

This wasn’t my original plan in life. Originally I wanted to become a cancer researcher living a heroic life developing a cure for cancer. Originally my plan was to quit my dead-end job as a Wal-Mart stocker and enroll in a medical assistant program. That would at least get me off to a good start towards earning enough money to live on while I studied through 4-years of pre-med. One month before my 19th birthday fate sent me tumbling in an entirely different direction.

On November 9th 1996, about one month before my 19th birthday, I had a stroke. My stroke completely paralyzed the left side of my body. My dreams of becoming a doctor were no longer attainable. Because I have limited use of my left side I am limited, at least vocationally, to the tasks I can perform independently. My disability negatively affects my ability to perform most of the tasks a physician is required to perform on a regular basis. The 4 years of my life that were previously reserved for preparing for medical school were now reserved for re-learning how to do simple things like walk, talk, and clean myself.

What helped me through the tough times was my passion for computers which I had discovered through a cheap Packard bell PC I happened upon one night during my shift at Wal-Mart. It was a 500 MHz 486 with only a 500MB HD and very little RAM. It was on clearance because it was used as a display. It seemed to work fine so I talked an assistant manager into letting me put on layaway since I didn’t have all the money right then (technically anyone wanting to put a clearance item on layaway needed permission from management). Most of the software I put on the machine was much too advanced for it so I ended up learning a lot about computers through constantly upgrading my little bargain PC until it did what I wanted it to.

When I mastered Windows I developed a reputation amongst my friends and family. Soon everyone was asking me to fix their computers issue. I absolutely loved it! Computers helped me to forget my problems and just have fun. When AOL became popular in 1996 I had to jump on the bandwagon. I quickly discovered that I needed a faster modem to get on the service. I eventually saved enough money and bought a 56k modem and started using the Internet. The internet amplified my love and curiosity for computers. Soon I found myself wanting to know HTML, Visual basic, Java and, C++. I couldn’t learn enough. Soon it became clear that the only way I could learn everything I want to know was to go to college and get a degree in computer science.

Going to college after having a stroke was not going to be easy. I knew I could do it but science said I couldn’t. After all I had significant brain damage. Nobody thought I had the mental capacity to succeed in college after suffering a stroke so severe. I’ve always had the ability to think outside the box and that ability is what, I believe, will make me a good security professional. I’ve always been the type of person to believe that I should reach for the moon because if I missed I’d still be among stars. It took me a long time to convince my family as well as the people providing my financial aid that I am capable of being successful in college. I’m now 31 years old and still plugging away at earning my Bachelors degree while working a job. My GPA is currently 3.7! I’ve decided that a career in Information security is how I want to give back to the world. The CEH certification would not only allow me to give back to people by protecting them against cyber criminals but it would help me to make a living doing what I truly love. Thank you for your consideration!

Because i wont to become a good hacker ,not best but normal.
I wont to learn more about technology, because im live in Lithuania,Kaunas in best hackers town in Lithuania if you now that :)

Dear Pirillo,

I like that you are giving a free book to anyone that writes the best comment on your website. I also understand that a lot of people are not going to be using the books the good way like protecting their computer and other legal information. Maybe the person you pick will do something good with it maybe they won’t you’ll never know.

The reason why I think that I should receive this oppertunity is because I am really into computers and technology. I would like to know more about the technology that I am using and working with. I’ve always tried to find different ways to learn more about technology and if this works out right I’ve found the perfect place.

If i get the opportunity to step up in my education for technology what i would do is I would read the books very carefully because I understand if you don’t know what you are doing something could go wrong. Then after I’ve mastered the information kept inside the books I would pack the books up and keep them in a safe area so they would never get lost, damaged, or completely distroyed. After I’ve placed my possessions in a safe place I would then go threw my highschool which my major is business and technology so hopefully it won’t be hard because i would already know a lot about ethical hacking and technology so it wouldn’t be that hard and maybe I would even learn more technology stuff.

After I am out of highschool and in collage I am going to stick with the same plan and stay in technology become a master at ethical hacking. When I am out of collage I am going to get a job as a ethical hacker which from there I am going to help improve the security systems. I’ve always wanted to join the IBM company which is a company of maintain employee teams of ethical hackers that improve the security system.

Ever since a malicious hacker hacked into my computer and hade stolen data which contained information about my family. I was very mad that someone would do that and that there was nothing to do to stop it. After a lot of research I’ve learned about ethical hacking and how they are computer and network experts who attack a security system on behalf of its owners, seeking vulnerabilities that a malicious hacker could exploit. To test a security system, Ethical hackers report problems instead of taking advantage of them.

If I could get the opportunity to have these books it would make the biggest difference in my life. If I don’t get the opportunity I will save up my money and by the books because I know if I got these books it would get me where I want to be in life. Maybe I might actually be able to help a Government.

Thanks for your time I will be hoping to hear from you.

Ok, anyways, as i said, I will be a hacker with it or without it ;)

Well, it is hard to say why me, but I will anyway give it a shot :) and even if I will not earn the course I will study these things from other sources, because for me it is not the question “yes” or “no” but “how”… I have already started C and C++, when finish wanna move on to Python, Java, Perl, some knowledge of LISP and Fortan just to know a bit about the old school.

Hey Chris, I would love to get a hacking course, this is a big oprotounity for me, and to keep my accouts on any game or website. I am worried some one might hacke me, so if i get ts course if some on dos hack me I could hck them back or get my account ack. Please Chris I really want this course. I want it for the protection of my family and myself. I want to protec my family from getting hacked. Please Chris do it for me and my family please.

From your friend, Joseph.

sorry i spetl “does rong

ever saw enemy of the state that is what i mean being a ethical hacker.. just learning more an more every second you engage a button ..me i live in trinidad an the only possible career is being able to work around pc …. i would like this course for me to better myself later on………….thanks……………

how much is the book?

Hello Chris, I just recently (maybe 2 months ago) came across your site, and have been watching a few videos. My name is Brendan, better known as Genet1c. but that’s not the point. I’m currently attending Devry University majoring in Electronic Engineering. I hope to one day become an electronic engineer and be designing circuits for major hardware companies. I believe you should pick me to be the one to recieve the “ethical hacking” course because I believe technology is the only future we have. I hope to be one of the few designing, and rethinking the current hardware we have. I hope to design the new solid state drives, the new RAM cards, the new processers, and the new circuits of the future. I believe you should pick me, because I want a better understanding of the software, in order to better understand the hardware of the future. I appreciate your time, and would like to thank you sincerely for considering my request. Please remember though, I am not begging for this, and I am not your average “geek”, but I am simply asking for an opportunity to learn, as that is my only goal in life. To learn, to understand, and to be understood.

I am 15 years old.
I live in Aruba it is a very small island in the Caribbean.
Since i was little i was interested in computers .
I started learning more of computers around the age of 12.
I had found different programs to help my friends with computers.
But after i heard of the term “script kiddie” i found it degrading.
I thought i was good with computers but using another persons program and scripts i felt like a freeloader.
I became more and more interested in the knowledge of computers.
I have learned to write HTML.
I know some JavaScript.
I am learning C++.
But since i live in a small island i am limited to my knowledge.
I have been searching the internet trying to find courses or tutorials to help me.
But most cost allot of money so i hope i deserve this opportunity to learn more.
I wish to study computer science in a university after i finish high school.
I do not wish to hack but i want to learn the knowledge of computers.
I thank you for taking your time to read my comment.
I hope you take my request seriously.

Well i,m gonna tell my story i am 14 i had received three laptop PC’s they had been broken for three year’s 1#Dell 2#Toshiba 3#Compaq and use’s the part’s and made one awesome laptop now i have been fixing computer for a year and for free but the deal is I think I can do this I can Chris Pirillo give me one chance I want to make history please give me one chance that’s all i need please.

thanks for giving us all this chance…thanks Chris pirillo

Wow this looks like an amazing course! I hope whoever gets it uses it well.

I can see the appeal of it. For me, I love to learn new things every day. It’s fun to challenge my mind and work with my hands. I had decided I had wanted to be an Ethical Hacker (EH) when I was looking into things for college. In high school I had been the one to help the other’s in my class survive computer class, and I have loved computers since I learned how to use them. Some of the first things I decided I wanted to do before I knew about EH’s was:
I wanted to work with computers
Work with my hands
Challenge my mind
Help others with their technological (or other) problem(s)

All while still being able to use my creative side. Being an EH would cover all of those easily. I just don’t know what to study in order to be the best I can be, or where I can go to find the courses to study for it. My family can barely scrape for me to go to an online college, but we’re making it by the Grace of God. I see this course and I think how awesome it would be to have the privilege to study something like that. I would love it. I would probably pass out, heh.

I’m doing a lot of research right now trying to figure out what I can do, find, and study in order to get to a Hacker level. It’s going to be a long road, but I’m in for the long haul on this one. I’m going to keep working whether or not I’m chosen here to find any and everything I can study that will help me get better and succeed. I don’t expect to win, because there are so many out there that are talented – much more talented than I am – that would be a lot more deserving of it, but I’ll still enter just for a chance. Who knows? Miracles happen once in a while. ^_^

Good luck to everyone! Ganbatte! (Do your best!)

p.g.a.

I have been studying computer engineering. i am 17 and planning to enter to the univercity is South Florida (USF).
if i take this cores, getting accepted to USF would be very easy and would be able to finish university in less time :D
I don’t want this to become a HACKER, there is not such thing. Hacking is a computer crime, but what i want is to expand my knowledge, and to be able to own a company like Microsoft. To do that i need to study…. ALOT.

I love programming Firewalls, locate security breaches within various Operating Systems, reprogram codes, gain access, penetrate, SQL injection and more.
I do not use my skills within computer engineering for bad or criminal use.
i have been learning extremely slow.. i must expand my knowledge.

Thank You

Hello sir, i am so glad that you are providing course on Ethical Hacking. i think i am able for this course because whatever computer knowledge i have, i have of my own. i never tooked any coaching classes or never joined any course nothing. i just used spend my 8hrs to 9hrs in a day in front of computer to get more and more knowledge. sir, i am belonging to middle class family and i live in rural area. from past few months i came to city indore(Madhya Pradesh), INDIA for my higher Studies. and i m so interest in computer software and hardware that i am not getting word to explain. it’s just like part of my life and i wanna be a Ethical Hacker.
this is only my dream in my life i swear. i learn to convert my dream into reality. that’s all i wanna say. if you help me and provide me Course on Ethical Hacking I will Very Thankful to You.

After all I hope is not too late already

I would like to became an Ethical Hacker because I am not one already….that one is the mayor reason.

But I have a lot of reason… I am over 40 year old and I am starting to play Drum and Guitar… not formal lessons since I have 2 daughter and when you have kids you have not the priority your kids have it. I like to learn new things when is possible. Even been a 40 year old guy I feel like a 20 year old… so I am active and I would use my new Ethical Hacker skill the next 40 years.

I used to participate in triathlon and I keep running now days…. been a Ethical Hacker is not just mind related you have to have a balance with body, soul and hard.

I like new technologies and I try to keep my self up to date. I like the security and I am one of those guys looking to close as many services and back door in my own pc.
I have more that 20 years working in the IT are.

My mother language is not English but that is not a impediment to write this post.

I worked for the Big Blue company and I help to write a read book… I am colorblind but I already have done blue and read stuff… so been a White Hat will help me with the colors stuff.

My sense of humor is very strange and I have a high ability to be sarcastic on the other side when I have personal assigned to my I am very friendly and help those how deserve… not the one taking other person jobs with out deserve and wasting the company money.

My wallet is empty so I will not be able to afford the course even if a want it a lot. …. I pay my self a Java course at Sun back in 1999 and I will be living from my Java related work since that… so have a refill in my curriculum will help me to pay the incoming school, college university etc for my daughters.

I love the computer, I am not a Guru, not a Geek, but I have the respect from those who know me.

Taking that course will be Fun, and I will show that you do not need to be a 14 year old kids to became hacker… and finally but not less important…. I will not use my knowledge to go agings others… I will use my knowledge to help.

I hope this post arrive in time….. please let me know your feed back via email. Sorry to the community but a future ethical hacker can not be leaving his email.

i idowu is intrested in becoming an ethical hacker a dream which ive had and want to purbish i realy need assistance in my success i realy want this firstly a certificate, to b know and popular and 2 also use 2 get job offer and scholarships and mostly c help my world around me. i wil appreciate if u assist me thanks for the blog on google. hope 2 hear from you.

Not sure from the age of this story if this is still going on or not. If it is, I think I would make an excellent candidate due to the fact that I am currently in the IT Security field, and have just completed my first Security related certification GSEC from SANS. I think it would be extremely helpful in my career and help to make me much more valuable in this current economy.

I would like to have this book and course couse I have a load of questions about the computer and security, I don’t really know where to ask them, evrywhere I tried they told me they don’t know and that I shoulent be thinking about that, I just can stop thinking about such things, thanks anyway for listening !

I believe that I am the one who should take this course for many reasone such as the cyber crime law it just born in my country, if I take this course it will help me to get a good career. Also, most of the company such as bank accept this cours.

Best Wishes

Hey CHris…
I dont want to learn such materials because it is discovered by yourself.. everyone who wants to learn hacking should learn by himself..also i dare you to hack my laptop.. consider this as a challange.. i posted my note and now u have my ip… show me ur best chris..

I believe i should get the course so i can further my knowledge and skill base with computers, particularly security. It will assist me when i commence my new career with the Army next year in IT, and expand my career options whilst in the Army, and if and when i leave.

I have always been intrested in the internet as a whole – since ‘back in the day’ of 56k modems ( lol ), i am currently contemplating my options as to which course in ‘computer science’ i want to take.
I feel only once i understand the computer, it’s language and uses will i be able to understand the Internet and thus by becomming an ‘ethical hacker’ aim to protect both myself and others from potentially harmful software or malicious hackers with intent to steal personal information and possibly more.
I have not had any real experience in areas such as programming ( an area of which im highly interested in ) but i believe i can understand the concepts and principles of ‘editing’ ( perhaps even writing ) ‘code’ once explained.
I feel i have the right ‘mind’ for hacking in that i am highly adaptable, excellent at solving problems ( with multiple solutions ), and i have a great imagination – a factor im sure will be valued highly when it comes to creating software for ’specific’ purposes such as intrusion preventing ( firewalls ) etc.
I feel this is the right course for me as it would give me fantastic oppertunities to utilise my individualistic ‘creativity’ whilst helping others. I feel i could write a revolutionary piece of software once i know how.

P.S. It was worth a shot.
