I’m lucky enough to live in a house that has a custom-built office with space for verything I use there. However, when I needed an ergonomic chair with lots of bells and whistles, I went to a furniture outlet store which specializes in office furniture only. Like Peter’s comment above, this place was in an industrial area, the interir was dimly lit, and I found a wonderful chair at a wonderful price. So, dude, next time you need to update furniture for your office (and there will be a next time), buy your stuff at an office furniture outlet.

I ended up buying a nice looking but not too expensive dining room table from Ikea that had an expandable ‘leaf’ that made it even longer. It’s pefect for an office desk (well, my kind of office) as it fits 2 20 inch monitors, my laptop, an Imac (17 inch) two phones, and room for papers and pens and pics and stuff. I have a chair with wheels and can roll a bit from one machine to another if needed, but generally work from the two keyboards I have side by side.

Since it didn’t cost much, I didn’t have any qualms taking a power drill through the surface (about 8 times) to allow for cables to run underneath.

I have never liked any of the “big 5″ (Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, Circuit City, Best Buy). Ever. Every single time I’ve tried to do business with any of them I always end up dissatisfied.

Either their (floor, delivery, installation, or returns) staff is incompetent, or it’s a nightmare to even think of getting something replaced/refunded.
