Hey,
I think you may be able to help me. I have a basic home edit program from Magix. It's called Movie Edit Pro 12. It's great but when I go to do a transition like a crossfade things get jumpey, once the cross fade is through things to back to normal. Do I need more Ram. I have a Gateway MA3 if that helps. Thank You! Mike Merlo

With any computer purchase, as soon as your computer is in your home or office, call DataMem.com and multiply your existing RAM x2.

How much RAM is enough? Whatever the maximum is your computer will hold.

Although 3.0 to 3.5 GB is a lot of RAM.

It's not so much the applications you run but rather the size of the files you work with... or if you game.

If you edit home movies (Dv) or edit digital photographs, you should still be fine with 3 GB. If you are using your computer for content creation, I can understand your desire for additional memory. There's never enough.

If you want to switch to 64-bit then Linux is a good option, too. All the major distros have a 64-bit option, with the associated drivers and software. It's really only Microsoft that are lagging behind on 64-bit support.

I'd recommend Ubuntu as a good distro for first-timers.
