I really don’t see the need for a tip calculator. To answer the question, I pretty much tip 20% minimum. If you get a 15% tip from me, something must have gone seriously wrong with ur service.

And I don’t feel like I need to calculate the tip to be exactly 20%. I’ll usually round up to the nearest $1. I’m in the industry so tipping is not a city in China.

Who needs these? Look, I don’t know about other places, but here 15% is the standard run of the mill tip. Do you really need a calculator for that? Look; move the decimal 1 place to the left. That’s 105. Now half that number. 5%. Add the 10 and the 5 for 15%. Example: 23.60. 10% is 2.36. And 5% is 1.18. So 2.36 + 1.18 = 3.54. Want 20% for a good waiter? 2.36 + 2.36 = 4.72. And so on!

Interesting… I don’t have an iPhone and being from Canada where we are taxed up the ying yang we have a sort of built in barometer. If the bill was $10, taxes in most provinces add up to about 15%, so $1.50. If you liked the service, round up :)

I nearly always go out to eat with my wife, and she figures the tip.

If we get a cute waitress, I tell her, “My wife does the tip–says I’m too generous with pretty waitresses.”

Most smile, some don’t. If they don’t I tell them, “Don’t worry, she’s as gererous as I am’.

I actually have no idea what percentage she does.

You know, I’m not a miser, but here in Germany/Europe it’s pretty expensive to go to decent restaurants. So I usually tip around 10% because this stuff is expensive enough as it is. Less than 5% for poor service or overpriced food…

In the States, however, I’ll give around 15% to 20%

wow what a great app for the iphone/ipod touch. thanks so much for the share. this will come in hand.

20%. If you’re still tipping 15%, you’re still using a Smith-Corona! BTW: my little Samsung Slider phone came with a Tip Calculator.
