How Has Social Media Changed Your Life?
What a powerful and loaded question that could be, eh? I came across a blog post on Geeks earlier, where the writer discussed this subject. He talked of the ways that social networking has changed his life. I can’t help but to sit here, and think of all the ways being so “out there” in the social media world has changed me. Have you ever stopped to think about this? How has being on Facebook changed you? What about Twitter and maybe LinkedIn? Heck… what about Geeks? What about you is different, now that you have incorporated all of these fantastic ways of meeting others into your daily routine? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, so leave me a follow-up comment with your story!

Since I’ve started using social networks I’ve started my own business that uses social media to list micro brews on tap around Portland, OR. It helps people actually use Twitter to meet with friends and find new people that like the great beer in PDX. Therefore it’s changed my life about 100%. It’s information share at it’s best. Cheers! Join me for a pint in PDX.

Sure I’ve met girlfriends through facebook and that of course changed my life as well, but a little over a year ago I met my sister through Facebook, or I should say, she found me.
Searching all her life she was always a step behind, but one day, coincidentally on “Family Day” here in Canada some random girl added me on Facebook. I didn’t recognize the name but my memory is horrible (I think that’s the computers fault! haha) so I figured why not add her and see what she has to say?
Her first message asks if the names she mentions are in fact my parents. Even more curios who this girl is and why she knows my parents name I reply and keep the conversation going. Very emotional times and very amazing times followed; In the end I discovered a new sister and brother, as well as my biological father all things to Facebook.

Wow, can’t top the family connections restored through FB.
But it has reconnected me with a lot of friends and is a great way to stay in touch.
I’d love to find a way to add $ on the side – trouble is, I pour so much of myself into the news biz I’ve been at for 30 years (especially the TV station’s Website) that I have precious little time for anything else. If nothing else, that’s what social networking has done for me – find a way to stop WORKING on the PC and LIVING. A little. More than I used to. Heh;-)
