Yes, there are several utilities to help you manage passwords on Windows, but Mac OS X users love 1password for a reason: it’s amazing. Plus, there’s a free iPhone app tie-in!

In short, 1Password keeps track of all your web passwords, automates sign-in, guards from identity theft, and allows you to stop worrying about your safety while online. 1Password takes care of all your online passwords so you can use strong and unique passwords for every site and never forget any of them!

As I said already, there are tons of utilities out there that can do the password basics for you. But can your utility or software do these things:

  • Enters online usernames and passwords so that you don’t have to remember them.
  • Strong Password Generator automatically creates and fills passwords.
  • Built-in Anti-Phishing and Keylogger Protection provides security and peace of mind.
  • Take your information anywhere on your iPhone/iPod touch or Palm.

1Password keeps this information all in a database. You’ll set a master password, which you’ll use to access all of your others. No one will be able to see your saved passwords, as long as you don’t share that master one with anyone. Be sure to set this password as strong as possible, using all of the rules for creating good passwords.

When using strong random passwords it is important to be able to access your information where ever you go. 1Password provides solutions for iPhone/iPod touch and Palm so you can take your data anywhere. This is an excellent feature, because so many of us are always on the go. We cannot afford to lose or forget our passwords – or have them hacked!

Keep yourself safe and easily remember all of your login information using 1password.

I use Windows and PINs made by a guy named Mirek
PINs is OSI Certified Open Source Software. It’s freeware.
I like that it uses 448 bit Blowfish encoding.
You can get it here.

I personally use Keepass as it has many ports to different platforms, windows, linux, smartphones, iphone etc, and also does all the tricks of the others, password generation etc. but it also allows you to store attachements to the database as well! (keepass 2 series) So for example, I want to export my email cert’s and store them safely, I just add them to my keepass database and all is well! Very Cool.

I prefer LastPass. I just started using it the other day but it can fill in passwords in safari on your iphone or even on your desktop.

I use my mind, and I even work in gov scenarios where I need to remember a crapload of passwords. If you can’t remember your passwords, you shouldn’t be accessing the systems to which you are trusted because at one point or another you will leak the passwords whether electronically or via hard-copy.

I use only two passwords, one strong one and one simple one for unimportant web apps

None of that fancy yancy stuff for me. I keep all of may passwords on a piece of paper right here… or is it here… or over there… or…

I store them on Google Notebook :) yay

Thanks for the great video Chris! I’m a little jealous I was not in it, but I had lost my voice anyway so I guess it was for the best. :)

Cheers!

1Password is an amazing piece of software and there are times when i’m wondering how on earth i used to survive before that…

With all the passwords we need these days I foreget which password was used of each place. This sounds like a good product.

I use nortons browser plug in thingy and have done for the past few years, it remembers all my site passwords and all i have to remember is one master password, but if i forget that i’m screwed really.

I’ve always used my mind to remember passwords. I mean I never really found it safe to have passwords stored on a computer, but this 1password information makes me think otherwise. This seems like a great program to store passwords. I know often using just your mind could be bad since we all tend to forget.

I have a password system that includes pert of the name of the website I’m on, a special character and some constant characters, that way every password is different, but I don’t have to remember them all :)
