Here in the Los Angeles area we have had more than a week of 100 + degree-days. When not in an air-conditioned room, I drink plenty of water and Gatorade. Swimming works great, and it is about 25 deg. cooler at the beaches. For those that have no way to keep cool, LA has set up “Cooling Centers” open to all.

Well, I beat the heat by hitting the malls, taking a nap in the air condish, or just drink sodas until I pass out. On hot days, I just hate getting out of the house. It’s a pain…unless I go to the beach!

I would add that a good place to go is the basement, especially if you don’t have air conditioning like myself. The basement, since it is underground, is cooler than both ground level and upper levels of the home and outside. Last summer, I had heat exhaustion from being on the ground floor of my house, so the basement is a savior of sorts.

I try to stay in doors and if i cannot i try to have plenty of water. If i am near my house (10 feet away) i can shoot the hose at me and get me soaking wet just make sure you have no electronics on you before you do this.

If you are low on water on a indian summer, keep your lips moist doing so will prolong heat exhaustion, hang out in shade it may be hot but it’s better then being pounded by UV rays. If you work outdoors on hot days carry a rag with you to splash a little water on and wrap around your neck it should maintian if not lower your current body temperature by a few degrees, less is more.

Uh, hate ultra hot weather, I think the 2 tips I do and like to are drinking water all day long and staying at home, obviously with lot’s of fans and semi-naked lol.
