Hot Off The Wire
In a surprising turn of events, “Lord of the Rings” director, Peter Jackson, has asked members of the popular boy band, Backstreet Boys, to appear in two or three scenes in his forthcoming “Fellowship of the Ring” sequel, “The Two Towers.” While principal photography wrapped up months ago, Peter requested their talent because his best friend's girlfriend's mother's uncle's neighbor wanted to meet the members of the group. Their on-screen time will be brief, but quite noticable.
George Lucas, award-winning director of “Howard The Duck,” countered this move by stating he would bring Menudo back together for an upcoming Special Edition release of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” Menudo will perform a newly-composed original song, to be inserted seamlessly somewhere in between the 'Jar-Jar stepping in poop' scene and the critically-acclaimed 'farting Eopie' scene.
Disney Officials could not be reached at the time of this release, although it is rumored that they are asking both Boys II Men and Color Me Badd to record original tracks for their upcoming re-release of “Beauty and the Beast.”

Your joke about Lucas is not far from the mark. They have invited NSynch in a similar matter for Episode II.
Actually – the LOTR post is so similar – it's possible your information is wrong. Too funny if true.
Check out http://www.theforce.net for more on the whole Star Wars NSynch thing.
