The first from Granville St, was booked from Australia, before I flew over, tjhe second was done over the phone while I was there. Easy and with a CDP number the price was right. The cars were good and upgraded as the compacts I wanted were not available, I am big enough to accept the whole fleet is not compact cars.
I have rented Hertz vehicles for a few years now and at all tiems it has been a positive experience,
But have been bitten twice and would never recommend Europecar in Europe, wanted a car to fit 5 people in , so what does the moron give me a Fiat Punto, not what I ordered. The second is Budget, especially Budget at Vancouver Airport, condescending, rude arrogant and not customer serving, ( thanks Alan, you are the sort of person to turn anyone of renting a car)
Got back to Vancouver early, and couldn;t get a car from Hertz , Budget had cars, got a price started the paperwork and this imbecile self centre turd ( yes Alan you) tells me my VIsa debit card is not valid, then proceeded to tell me that there was no where in Vancouver that would accept a Visa debit card, hmm i pointed out that I had already used it wiht Air canada, Hertz and a host of other places since I arrive din Canada, his answer not possible.
So thanks to this idiot I had to take bus train and by foot 5 hrs to get to Langley, will remember his face for a long time.
My complaint to Budget in Australia about this moron, the reply back was the usual rubbish, and that the vancouver airport office does not accept Visa debit cards. Funny the investigator must not have read the budget website about which cards were valid. Anyway in australia the complaint would have gone to the Dept of Fair trading but in Canada have no idea so they got off this time.
Steer clear of Budget !!

This blog is Hertz based I guessed, I have nothing but praise for them ( well the Vancouver Canada section ), I recently was in Vancouver and had two cars rented on separate occassions, one pickup as from Granville st in the city the other from the airport.<br

Never again the most ignorant deviouse hire company I have ever used.. It has taken me 5 months, and only with the help of my credit card company have I got a refund of £72.00 (sorry, that has now shrunk to £65.00 with the exchange rate) this was charged for petrol even though the car was returned full and confirmed so at the time of return, I have sent fax after fax that have never been acknowledged, when calling I have never managed to get through even after being kept on hold for 20 minutes What a good way of boosting profits Oh and by the way
you must bring the car back with the bodywork as clean as it left the compound or you're charged a wash fee.

Hertz Portugal …. I even paid for the car five months in advance. When I questioned them how such a thing could happen, the official answer was, "We don't guarantee cars will always be available." I also noticed that well over 20 or so people were upset and waiting in the Hertz rental counter area waiting for cars which they had also reserved in advance.Another Hertz incident worth sharing is that Hertz refused to respond to a call for rental car replacement or repair when the car broke down on a country road.My advice is:
1. Do not pay in advance.
2. Make reservations with several car rental companies since none of them seem to be able to manage their reservation systems and only offer an insincere apology when their customers are left without cars. This is especially true in the UK.

Avoid Hertz, especially in the UK!

I made reservations for a Hertz rental station wagon five months in advance of a recent two week family vacation to the UK, however, Hertz did not have a car available on the day of my arrival at London Heathrow. Therefore it can only seem natural that two names(as they have different driver's license numbers, credit card info, etc.) can not coexist on the same membership.

I think you have misunderstood the concept of the gold membership; The contract you sign upon picking up the car is personal – As is your gold membership, as it serves as a template for contract. That evening when we returned, we realized that we had left a camera in the front seat compartment. We tried in vain for seven days to try to reach someone to report the loss. It is now March 9th, We received a letter saying they would check it. So far it has only been one frustrating day after another. Unable to reach anyone on the phone, unable to get any satisfaction regarding this matter
We are waiting to hear if it has been found or not.
I think the phone system needs to be more responsive to customers needs.

On February 15th we returned a car to the Phoenix airport.<br

I always travel to Montreal, Canada often and when I need a car rental in Montreal, I reserve online with Globe Car Rental. They give me a free G.P.S., yes Free no questions asked. Apparently, they offer this deal on all their rentals. I have checked other companies and they are by far the cheapest. Their cars are clean, I last got a Nissan Pathfinder, it was awesome. You can look them up www.globecar.ca when you need a car in Montreal. They will pick you up in no time.

Funny stories, everyone posting. They will then do a charge back on the amount and refund the money to your credit card.We hear of many stories like this not just about hertz but other companies as well. This is one reason why using a broker like ourselves is a good idea, because we can call our account managers and get the situation resolved quicker. With the amount of business we send them they don't usually argue, when you do it your a single client and they think ok, with us they could potentially loose a large volume of daily rentals.Hope this helps you Barbara

Barbara, there is an easy way to get you money back and that is to call your credit card company and explain the situation. I am not really surprised since when I went into the location to rent the car it looked very much like the Greyhound station. Other clients didn't seem to have all nessasery paperwork to rent a car but were able to anyway. The staff was also very interesting to watch as well, O well I hope the coat keeps them warm since Hertz will not be getting any more of my money EVER!

Sacramento, Ca 16th street location WILL steal any items left in the truck of the car. Don’t they think about the other drivers on the road? It’s just so unfair to have to take a life because of having a good time.
Some even tend to think, “Aag, another drink won’t get me drunk,” but one too many is always too much.

I go absolutely insane when car accidents are caused by drinking over your limit. a hispanic woman hit me at 45-50 mph. (everyone else was stopped, but she was too busy drinking or talking on the phone??) So Martha plows into me and starts to bleed because she is driving an older model Chrysler Sebring pos. I am in a Prius and feel fortunate to escape with my life.
Hertz takes FOREVER to call AAA to tow my car away.
I am shakey, dizzy and in shock and have to help fill out a police report at the Hertz return counter in Miami.
I rented the car in West Palm Beach and they still think I am out driving it and having grand ol' time.
Obviously Hertz Miami doesn't communicate with Hertz West Palm Beach.
I called the 800#. They said - oh, talk to billing.
Billing said -- "Oh no, you were in an accident" talk to claims.
I call claims and get a fairly reasonable person who tries to call Miami. She only gets voice mails. No one ever picks up the phone unless you are giving them money. So I call West Palm Beach and somehow get another call center. They say -- call West Palm Beach. I am way past
angry and raging like a crazed animal. I ask them to call West Palm Beach. So they do - they get a sort of live human.
WHO DOESN'T SPEAK ENGLISH as her native language.
She only hears the word, "tow, and accident". I am insulting her and she says for me to call West Palm Beach on Monday and speak to her supervisor. So I call the voice mail today-- Saturday and leave 2 messages. I feel like killing the stupid
Haylee in a storm of fury that I only reserve for complete and stupid mean people.
I was so glad to see the main address for Hertz online.
I am sending a long involved letter with plenty of complaints.Ironically, the company that I work for has a Hertz Account rep.
(who also doesn't work on week-ends)
i still do not have a closed out receipt for this.
Did I mention I wasn't at fault for any of this?? This one completely asleep a$$hole decides rear end me in Miami.
Lucky me.

I was in a rental car accident. I was stopped on 95 in Miami and<br

When I arrived at JFK as a #1 Gold Club Member, they did not show me as a member at all. When I walked up to the counter, the agent accused me of not using the Web form properly - and accused the six people behind me of the same offense. (they also did not have their name on the outside board.) The agent said that it happens "All the time"- most people use the website incorrectly. Sorry that grumpy "you are why i quit Hertz" worked for a company that offers a program that they do not fix when problems are reoccurring year after year. Fix it and move on. Who cares if you pay $1 for the membership - you take my money you better follow thru.

nothing has changed from Aug 2006 to Feb 2008 in regards to their website.

I also had to re-edit the form before submitting it.
