I have tried Hertz for the LAST TIME. I spent of $25K with them last year I flew into Santa Rosa with a reservation in hand they after waiting 25 min in line had no car for me the agent was nasty. Because it was a drop at another airport they suddenly did not have cars . I walked next door to AVIS go A++++ Service and I was on my way . Hertz is a bad company

I am currently taking a trip to my school (different state) and since I am not 25 I can’t rent a car, so my mom does and drives it for her use and to provide me with transportation.

The suv she rented is a Toyota Rav4, not a bad car, but they failed to fully clean the vehicle. It smells of beer and vomit. What a disgrace. My mom tried to call them, but none of the numbers on the rental agreement actually get to contact the people to return the vehicle.

Now I am looking up the phone number for the seatac Hertz rental place and behold, I find this blog.

HERTZ BEWARE
Just recently used Aeroplan miles (47,000) to rent a Hertz car in Orlando. End result, paid $380… the same price I would of paid without using the Aeroplan miles!
They couldn’t find my file when I arrived, had problems processing the paper work and the worst – Hertz added $10.99 per day for LDW (???) that they didn’t ask if I wanted and then when I returned the car full of gas, the charged me an additional $48 for fuel.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT AT HERTZ – PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE

I have rental car from Hertz in September this year. The car was substandard and stopped working, Hertz had to replace the car and have now charged roadside assistance fee for delivering replacement.
Am challenging it!!

This blog is Hertz based I guessed, I have nothing but praise for them ( well the Vancouver Canada section ), I recently was in Vancouver and had two cars rented on separate occassions, one pickup as from Granville st in the city the other from the airport.
The first from Granville St, was booked from Australia, before I flew over, tjhe second was done over the phone while I was there. Easy and with a CDP number the price was right. The cars were good and upgraded as the compacts I wanted were not available, I am big enough to accept the whole fleet is not compact cars.
I have rented Hertz vehicles for a few years now and at all tiems it has been a positive experience,
But have been bitten twice and would never recommend Europecar in Europe, wanted a car to fit 5 people in , so what does the moron give me a Fiat Punto, not what I ordered.

The second is Budget, especially Budget at Vancouver Airport, condescending, rude arrogant and not customer serving, ( thanks Alan, you are the sort of person to turn anyone of renting a car)
Got back to Vancouver early, and couldn;t get a car from Hertz , Budget had cars, got a price started the paperwork and this imbecile self centre turd ( yes Alan you) tells me my VIsa debit card is not valid, then proceeded to tell me that there was no where in Vancouver that would accept a Visa debit card, hmm i pointed out that I had already used it wiht Air canada, Hertz and a host of other places since I arrive din Canada, his answer not possible.
So thanks to this idiot I had to take bus train and by foot 5 hrs to get to Langley, will remember his face for a long time.
My complaint to Budget in Australia about this moron, the reply back was the usual rubbish, and that the vancouver airport office does not accept Visa debit cards. Funny the investigator must not have read the budget website about which cards were valid. Anyway in australia the complaint would have gone to the Dept of Fair trading but in Canada have no idea so they got off this time.
Steer clear of Budget !!

Hertz Portugal …. Never again the most ignorant deviouse hire company I have ever used.. It has taken me 5 months, and only with the help of my credit card company have I got a refund of £72.00 (sorry, that has now shrunk to £65.00 with the exchange rate) this was charged for petrol even though the car was returned full and confirmed so at the time of return, I have sent fax after fax that have never been acknowledged,when calling I have never managed to get through even after being kept on hold for 20 minutes What a good way of boosting profits Oh and by the way
you must bring the car back with the bodywork as clean as it left the compound or you’re charged a wash fee.

Avoid Hertz, especially in the UK!

I made reservations for a Hertz rental station wagon five months in advance of a recent two week family vacation to the UK, however, Hertz did not have a car available on the day of my arrival at London Heathrow. I even paid for the car five months in advance. When I questioned them how such a thing could happen, the official answer was, “We don’t guarantee cars will always be available.” I also noticed that well over 20 or so people were upset and waiting in the Hertz rental counter area waiting for cars which they had also reserved in advance.

Another Hertz incident worth sharing is that Hertz refused to respond to a call for rental car replacement or repair when the car broke down on a country road.

My advice is:
1. Do not pay in advance.
2. Make reservations with several car rental companies since none of them seem to be able to manage their reservation systems and only offer an insincere apology when their customers are left without cars. This is especially true in the UK.

I think you have misunderstood the concept of the gold membership; The contract you sign upon picking up the car is personal – As is your gold membership, as it serves as a template for contract. Therefore it can only seem natural that two names(as they have different driver’s license numbers, credit card info, etc.) can not coexist on the same membership.
