Helping China

As of the recording of this video, more than 50,000 people are confirmed dead in China after last week’s Earthquake. Thousands more are feared dead. Several thousand more are injured, starving, and homeless. This isn’t about politics, nor creed, race or color. It’s about human beings… just like you.

They need our help, folks. Basic necessities are impossible to come by in China. They need blankets, water, food, tents, clothing and formula for children and babies that are now starving. This is a tragedy of horrific measure. Think back to 9/11. Remember how the World came together, reaching out to those in the United States who desperately needed help. That’s what we need to do now. We have a social responsibility as a citizen of this planet to do what we can.

There are many ways we can help. You can choose to make a monetary donation, a donation of goods, or even become a volunteer with the Red Cross.

I don’t care if you’re green with purple polka dots, live on Mars, and have no religious or political affiliations. Things like that don’t matter right now. What matters is those people who are dying, those thousands who are injured and need our help. They are human beings, just as you are. It could happen to you, at any time.

In addition to the Red Cross, there are a number of other organizations who are accepting donations in order to help the victims of this horrible tragedy.

Even if you cannot afford to help monitarily, I urge you to say a prayer tonight for those people if you pray. Light a candle. Send positive energy. Whatever it is you do in times of tragedy, I ask you to have a quiet moment to remember those lost, and hope for those left behind.

Donating is good, but these days most of all you have to know you can trust them and know that the money gets to the place it is meant to
Is the U.S. not sending any help
id think they should
But if that did happen Cali would be devistated
I think theyre saying that if one hit cali itdd break off
Fast response is always the key

I really admire you for doing this. With the popularity and social network connections you have, you are using it to give back to those in need. I will say a prayer tonight for those affected because of the earthquake, as well as all those in need.

It’s really awful what’s happened over in China and in Myanmar. My heart really goes out to all of the people affected by this. I’m glad to see that this site is taking an active stance in promoting ways to help all the victims.

There by the grace of God go I.

I had seen the things in China by watching the China Central Television (CCTV). Literally, they are sending troops by parachuting them off airplanes to the hard hit places.
I live in th US and in an area where there is no Chinese TV station so I use TVUNetworks.com to see the what is happening and updates in China.
If you go to a Asian neighborhood (places like San Francisco Chinatown), you will see flayers for donating things and money to help the people in China.
If you people can, donate some money to help the people in China if possible.

This Really sucks, First the disaster in Myanmar and now this! The world is coming to an end! But seriously, I agree that everyone should be helping out these people.

I totally agree with this post. We should all do whatever we can when there are peoople in such desperate need. I’m not in a position to donate money, but I will say a prayer for all of those who are hurting in China. Thank you Chris and Ponzi for bringing this horrible situation to our attention. It’s nice to see those who have a voice use it for a good cause.

I think that it’s great that you guys did this video.

I’ll try to do my part this week.

I disagree with you Chris a full 100%! China obtains enough of this country’s money everyday of the year. The United States has many people that are just as desperate we should start by helping them first.

I totally agree that the people who were effected by this tragic earthquake in China are in desperate need of our IMMEDIATE help. Donations of any amount (even $1) would be appreciated. And please encourage your friends and family members to do the same! NOW is the time to really make a difference in the lives of these people; and to give them hope for the future!

I really wish I could physically help these people or any people in need all I can do is offer my prayers . It is always sad when any one dies especially when it happens like this in an natural disaster. Some times the Prayers to god make the biggest difference.

Chris,

Thank you for speaking out for those who have no voice.

50,000 dead. One might ask how can God allow this tragedy? I don’t know. All I can say is that God works in mysterious ways, and I know that something good will come out of this event.

Keep on speaking. Inform the world how we can help, and maybe one day we the world will be a better place. Thank you.

Man… what a disaster it is! From the pictures I’ve seen… its like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It looks almost like a gigantic bomb went off and basically whipped the cities affected off the planet. These people need our help… please donate.

Almost every piece of silicon comes from china. Go to your local stores and everything is made there weather it be clothes or what not. Here is my questions and I hope you view these with a open mind rather then just flaming me for asking. 1. Doesn’t China already have money to deal with this situation. 2. Doesn’t China (The most populated country) not already have enough man power to deal with this? 3. Did China aid us in the 911 event?

I only ask these questions because many argued that we didnt need assistance since we had the money and man power to resolve our crysis. So basically I ask does China not have the money and man power to resove this crysis and would it not be better to donate to people actually in need if China has the resources in place to resolve this.

Sorry I just view China as arguably the most developed country in many ways and am interested in hearing your constructive feedback.

it was truly a horrific event… maybe the worst nightmare for china… some say that it was just right for china to lessen their population number but the thing they need now is help… we should help them in any way in order for them to move on from the dark… it’s our nature to save lives and that’s the reason why God put us above all living things… God bless to all of us…

When you donate money to a cause, make sure that you are giving it to a non-profit organization that you can just. As Chris pointed out, when it doubt as to the validity of a non-profit organization, donate to the Red Cross or a religious organization. I am a member of the United Church of Christ and I donate money it times of crisis to a program called “Our Church’s Wider Mission.”

http://www.ucc.org/ocwm/

man that is some crazy stuff man i never felt a earthwqake befor but that must suck man 50k+ dead dam everyone that watches so least donate $1 if u can or more

Maybe God didn’t have anything to do with this. Consider the possibility that Mother Earth has to flex and grow, like us, the older she gets. Donating money is a waste of time, due to misappropriation of funds. Remember the starving kids commercials, most of the money doanted ended up in crooked foreign politicians hands. Nothing different here.
The United States should make a large effort to help the population of China. We have ships that can purify thousands of gallons of water daily while pierside. We have construction battalions that can deploy in less than 48 hrs and build runways in less than 7 days. Come on folks……..let’s get real here. If politicians were actually held responsible for their actions, then maybe things would get done a little quicker and in a more professional manner. But as it stands, the U. S. will sit back and watch this disaster unfold, do nothing, then complain about why China is angry with the U.S. I will keep China in my prayers as well as the folks in Myanmar, Africa and about a thousand other places.
God Bless our troops

Politico just did an interview with President Bush and he was asked if we were sending aid. Bush said that he talked with China’s president and that China has not accepted our aid because it is pretty much okay with what they have now, at least as far as troops and other types of aid are concerned, which makes perfect sense because China is a fairly developed country. I just read that China has grown 50 years in the last 10 as far as economic development, pollution, and personal possessions are concerned. However, as we can all tell right about now, there are older buildings and they did not grow with the standards of new China, which is why so many of them are now piles of twisted metal and concrete. How can anyone blatently refuse to donate to such a horrific loss of human life? Bush didn’t refuse and China’s answer doesn’t really matter because things are getting done there, so this isn’t blaming anyone for not helping out. What I’m trying to say is that we can all help in some way, shape, or form. What your way of helping is is up to you, but do something.

That is very devastating. Thousands and Thousands of People dead. Theres been 2 devastating events that have recently Occurred.
1: China Earthquake
2: Malaysia Cyclone
Its great that you did this video chris and ponzi.
If anyone can send anything if its some money or its some simple products such as a 24pack of bottled water or some baby formula im sure that the people of China would appreciate it.

I agree Chris we should help the people out there. We all share the same things in life, and we all live together on this World. My friends dad was killed in this. Just to see the look on my friends face at school was just horrible. It is amazing how something so good can end up in a disaster.

Your call is heard chris, and you can rest assured that my family and I will do all we can… thank you for the red cross link. That will help.

I was in an earthquake, here in Argentina, many years ago. I was a child, and I remember seeing neighbouhoods enterely destroyed, in the poorest areas. I also remember help comming from several countries and organizations, local and foreign.
So let’s compromise, let’s donate, It works, i’ve seen it with my own eyes.
Please don’t think of what china did for me? It doesn’t matters, could be anyone, could be you.

I notice the lack of any similar post for the tragedy in Burma / Myanmar. I’m not insulting you, but I do find it curious, especially considering all your talk about ignoring race, creed or color, and etc, and yet the earthquake in China seems to have had greater effect than the cyclone through Burma.

The massive amount of poor Chinese people have a government that also reigns over the fastest growing economy in the world, the largest army in the world, and etc. Burma has nothing of this kind, does not have that advantage at all.

All I’m trying to say is that the hypocrisy I’ve been seeing in the responses to the disasters in Burma and China really astounds me. And my advice to you, as a rational person who truly believes in helping regardless of “race creed or color”, is that if you’re in the situation of donating to the causes of either Burma or China, remember that the Burmese are practically helpless and have nothing at all.

If everyone in the U.S. would give one dollar of there paycheck, there is over 304,109,242 working citizens in the U.S., that would reallt help.

Yes helping China will be good because, they have all of oar goods there.

In response to “Theowne”, I think that one of the MANY reasons why Chine is slightly having more need for help/publication if you will (this is not to offend anyone in anyway), is the fact that the Olympics are suppose to be taking place in China.

I would like to hear more about the Burma Disaster, no one I’ve talked to has even heard of it… and I am in the U.S. as well.

I love the idea of giving back. Us, all americans. No, all people should help when someone else is in need. We need to help. Huzzah! Dude. You’re the man!

This is a tragedy along with this + the troubles in burma people need help I have would love and I plan to give to some charities.

first off i think its great that you are putting this issue on your site secondly i totally agree with you we should and need to help China we should donate maybe some food clothing shelter etc. if each person in America gave China one dollar that would help

Chris, you and Ponzi have good hearts. It’s great to see someone with a community voice such as yours stand up for those in need… I commend you for that. I will say a prayer for all those in the world that need it. If we would all just take a minute out of our busy lives to put our collective consciousness together and pray for those in need it would have a profound effect on the world.

This was really thoughtful that both you guys have taken a step from your usual routine and taken the time to make sure that everyone else is knowledgeable of the tragedy that is still brewing overseas.

i sent $500 thanks for inspiring me!

i sent $500 thanks for inspiring me!

Hehe, im asian so i think that this is very touching… Its nice knowing that there people there that are willing to help those in need. :)

you are welcome. and yes, I still don’t agree with you. Because I think you are being double standard over this issue. Millions of people are also the employees of the chinese military industry. Furthermore, if you think about what the chinese have been through for the last 200 years, you will understand why they feel they need to invest on their miltary projects.

why should we help someone who tried to poisen us?

地震是打不到我们中华民族的!

Dood china has over 1 trillion in surplus. Read the freaking news, look it up on google. US has over 9 trillion deficit. Pirillo is a fking moron.
Why the fuc we would help someone when they have money and we are in debt. wtf…they have over a 1.3 billion people there…let them help each other. This is the stupidest shit ive ever seen.

hahahaha wow why didnt you try to help new orleans or other places why china hint hint becasue his whife is form asian origin

right on! It’s about human beings! But let’s not forget about Myanmar! 100,000+! China is lucky compared to Myanmar. Because atleast China is getting proper aide, and help unlike Myanmar.

The recent disaster in China is really making people suffer. The curious thing about the disaster is however that the Chinese are letting word out like never before, its sort of the government’s game to cover up failure and disaster in China. Remember when they covered up the SARS outbreak? I applaud the Chinese government for not censoring this event. However, there are still a ton of human rights violations that are hidden beneath the shroud of Chinese government secrecy to be worried about. The 50,000 number, weather high, low, or about right is unlikely even close to the number of folks who have died or are still suffering because of other policies. I think the openness of China is opportunistic because of the Olympics that are coming. While I think suffering of the citizens is entirely not the fault of the government or the people themselves we always have to look at China with a little bit of suspicion.
Recently I watched the 2008 Annual Google shareholders meeting, there were two proposals relating to censorship in China. Both of them voted down, the google board should be ashamed of themselves but they are just conforming to what the government wants.
So yes, I intend to send money to a relief organization but that doesn’t forgive all of the previous violations of human rights by the Chinese government. But then again, many western governments don’t have the best track records either, the US being a prime example of hypocrites with Guantanamo and Abu Grahib. Let us not forget past transgressions in the wake of recovering from such disasters. Good policy on one issues doesn’t forgive bad policies on other things.

Its always great to see Ponzi talking, Especially about such a topic. She does a great job of making you feel as though it does matter. Ponzi and Chris FTW. Hehe

It is nice of the USA to always be the first to aide international crisis. We all have to wonder if the supplies actually get to the victims – and that the government doesn’t use them.

I think its great that your using your popularity to get the message out. thousands of people see your vids and it help make the people aware of whats going on and realize how serious this is and that they need our help. i give away all my old stuff and stuff that i dont “need” to good will they often help with efforts such as that. i just hope burma lets everyone in there is thousands of ppl that need help there.

How’s the funny comes? Is there any funny of more than 40,000 death?

this guy who is talking don’t know what he is talking about

Chris, I really like it that you are asking people to help in the relief effort, but you need to understand that China has over 6 trillion dollars in reserves. They can help themselves and their people.

Just my 2 cents.

Michael

china donate to myanmar…more than 100,000 dead and 2 million in danger>>>>china supports brutal burmese military junta which kills monks too.

donate to sudan where there is a genocide going on>>>>chinese buy sudanese oil and blocked several times UN efforts to send troops and stop the genocide.

donate to north koreans which are trying to go to the south through china but they get deported and raped>>>china is the principal partner of north korean brutal regime..

DONATE!

To all who donate – good. Here’s some advice when donating to the Red Cross – do NOT specify a particular disaster. Instead donate to the general fund. When a single disaster is specified and that disaster is taken care of, the designated money CANNOT be redirected to another disaster fund. Money sent to the general fund can be used by Red Cross for ANY disaster – whether the current one or the next one (wherever/whenever that is). As a Red Cross Volunteer I know what I speak of here. Please take it as good intention.

right on! help china! good job chris!

right on! help china! good job chris!

right on! help china! good job chris!

Right on Chris! We all need to help those in need. Not just in China and Myanmar but also at home here too like in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. And yes, there are cases where the government fails to respond like After Katrina. Foreign aid came after Katrina but it was refused by the US government. So we should donate our money and time regardless. And yes, prayer does help. May those suffering in China and elsewhere see the light at the end of the tunnel.

all you people saying don’t Donate. should be ashamed of themselves. It doesnt matter if they have trillions in reserve because it all amounts to nothing when something like this happens. If there was a disaster such as this here in the us or wherever you live you would want all the help you could get. So don’t discriminate just do your part to help people who really need the help

Man what a horrible thin to happen… Over 50,000 deaths. I sure will help out in any way possible. Though I never question the validity of Charity organizations, it is amazing that people doubt the red cross, unicef. Whatever the case, I will donate to help.

Right on Chris! We all need to help those in need. Not just in China and Myanmar but also at home here too like in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. And yes, there are cases where the government fails to respond like After Katrina. Foreign aid came after Katrina but it was refused by the US government. dude what ur doing is really nice.

sadly i cant donate because im low on cash myself but to all that will donate you’ve done a good deed and im sure u will be blessed

Chris, this is something really good that you are doing, I mean you connect with 1,000-2,000 people on a daily basis with more and more people everyday and this is something that is breaking away from the norm and going on something that’s really very important to the world. Thanks Chris.

This is horrible.

I hate how this stuff happens, and while we are going about our normal lives, and there are people over there dying when they could be helped.
I can’t give any money because I am simply a kid, but I will send some positive energy and feel guilty for my good living conditions because that is the least I can do.

it’s really terrible when this happens, there are too much suffering around the globe, children starve in Africa , typhoon in Thailand a while ago, what can we do to prevent this? nothing , we can’t do anything but we can always donate some money and little bit love, a person that hasn’t got anything will be very happy to get something, cause they will know and be happy to know that someone actually cares about them and their families , that means a lot to a person, i will at least pray for the departed and those who survived, if you intend to donate your money then be careful because there are bad people out there tries to exploit your generosity, research if they are legit, don’t trust only their words try to find out from multiple sources before you donate money.

i will pray for the victims of this tragedy because this is just horribe. all of those people dying, people losing loved ones, etc. i really commend you for your effort to at least lend a hand for people on need.

this is nice for what you are doing, the families of lost ones will be really grateful

Everyone bleeds, everyone writhes, everyoine thinks the US should do more, send more, be more.

Keep bleeding and trying to send your money there.

China sends no aid to anywhere else in the world. They couldn’t care less if every other country died. Keep believing

A very god idea to get money for charities I saw in France, there was a box collecting money next to the automat where people get back a lots of coins there don’t want to carry around a give throw it then in the charities box. Here in Hungary we have collected the 1 and 2 forint coins (0.625 cent) which have been taken out of service this year in April. You could find in every shopping Mall huge glass boxes felt with coins and more billion forint have been given to charities.

Wow. How come I have not heard anything about this? I heard about the incident in Myanmar but not in China. I should start watching the news I guess.

My prayers go out to everywhere in the world that is suffering in any way. Hopefully China can become stronger after this horrific accident, just as the United States did after 9/11.

Thank you for the informative blog post, Chris. Hopefully the word can get out to people like me who have not heard about this incident yet.

I would donate but

No, I’m kidding I’m kidding, but in all honestly I really should give something. I’ve never donated like this before, so I don’t know of any organizations that won’t take a large % of my money… like 100%. I’ll take a look around the internet and see what I can do. They need all the help they can get.

On the local news last night a Father Joe Carol was on the news, and he said that he had to cut nearly $3 million from his budget. Father Joe Carol feeds the poor, and homeless in down town San Diego. He has been a fixture in San Diego for many years, and because of the economy donations are way down, and more people are coming in for help! Why bring this up? Instead of sending money to a country that hates our guts and desires to take us over donate that money to your local worthy charities.

There are people in our country that are just a hairs breath of being on the street, and there are others that are on the street in book they should get help before some stranger on the other side of the world that hates the way you live, and hates your country.

To read the Father Joe Carol story see this link…

why help china? they have the fastest growing economic. they’re rich enough to help them selves out, we the US don’t need to go into any more debt.

you sick motherfucker i hate this guy and his fucking stupid ugly voice

do you konw distinguish the US army and chinese army ?your army can waring, but our army ont only waring but also help our pepele.that’s why.

Chinese are united !

How much did China donate to New Orleans when Katrina hit there, and how much did the US donate to China when the quake hit Sichuan? you’d better look it up.

Chris! Thank you!

I don’t watch the TV unless it’s History Channel or what-not, I never watch news stations. If not for your live feed I would have never known what had happened and where.

I tuned into your feed that night just as casual as every other day, but was surprised to hear the news. I saw Ponzi and yourself were talking about getting help to the people that NEEDED it and FAST!

Thank you, Chris, thank you.

(<donated $25 via WorldVision.org)

Absolutely catastrophic. Mother nature is a cruel woman. I have been watching the news and I am looking into what organisations would be the best to go with as far as my donations are concerned. Thanks for the Red Cross link Chris. Will look there first.

I think that we should blame the Chinese people for having a corrupt government. They are not victims of the Chinese government like the rest of the world. They deserved to die.

I know that I am going to get some thumbs down, or my comment marked as spam. Though, you have to understand, they are still people, I would save them or someone no matter how or what they are! I mean if you were going to die, I would perhaps try to help and save you!

if earthquake were smart enough to find a target, u would be the first one to pick….

@ Redpapers :- That’s very rude of you.You wouldn’t like if people will call you racist. Will you ? Every cast or religion or country consists of good or bad people.you can’t just blame them because they are from China.Learn respecting the humanity.

67,000 (20,000 missing), give or take is, a lot of people. No matter what you think, no one on this blog has ever been in that kind of situation, I don’t know how a country could ever really be the same after something like that, but they have the man power, they have the money. I think they will be ok eventually, but 420,000 homes destroyed and somewhere around 300,000 injured there is not much more to say.

That is pretty sad yeah, and now they think there is about 75000 dead but i’m sure there is over 100000 now but important thing is that they get help and China allows other countries, what i mean is that what just happened in Burma, the week of heave rain and flood they had there. There were also a lot of people killed but the thing is burma didn’t allowed other countries to come in and help them, there was Aircraft carrier about 10 miles of the coast of disaster but Burma didn’t allow them come in. That carrier had everything, supplies, first aid and they even can make 3000 liters of water per day.

I really feel very sorry for all of those people in China who died in this disaster. My family donated $100 to the Red Cross’s fund for helping the people. Just think, would other people be willing to provide help for US if an earthquake, hurricane, or any other type of disaster happened here?

It’s sad to see that kind of destruction and death in China. As weird as it may seem, I was glad to hear that China is removing the 1-child per family ban on victims.

My name is christopher, and i was raped before i died. I use to enjoy pain and now i inflict it upon people. I was tortured and raped until i could no longer breathe. Those bastards now suffer and die, and those who do not repost this to 5 videos will die too.
At the strike of 12AM, those who did not repost this will die a horrible death after seeing a bloody face covered with long black hair. Those who repost this will receive a kiss from their crush
i didnt wanna die, sorry

Sounds terrible. Chris – that’s awesome that you’re taking the time to do a video about this. I don’t know if the whole tragedy is over yet, but I hope that everyone made it out alright.

“More than 68,000 confirmed dead in China quake” This is the last news.I don’t know If there is a way to prevent such disasters but I think this is just the begining of the next world disasters. We have to do something at least to anticipate it if we can’t prevent it

my aunts boyfriend went there and he said its 100% worse then the show on tv
and i think people don’t really care what happens to thousands of people
but when it comes to their country they want help

It’s terrible, this earthquake and all, but I once read that these Chinese monks predicted that 2008 would be a very bad year for China, there would be a lot of disasters, etc. Apparently they based this off some sort of pattern of once every few decades, China would have a bad year.

Well, I hope that interests anyone who reads this, because I read about it last year…

I’m donating 500 USD. What about you other people?

You know I read this thing last year that said a bunch of Chinese monks predicted that 2008 would be a year of disasters for China, and now look at what just happened. It seems just like that tsunami of 2004, the animals had all moved away, since they noticed. We in the United States should use surveillance or some sort of technique that could help prevent these disasters. Both of these large disasters were kind of predicted, so couldn’t we predict them too? I wonder if anything in technology will come up….

And I’m donating 500 dollars, what about you guys?

while I don’t support the policies of the government you can’t pass that feelings onto the people, same thing with the myanmar cyclone. I pray for all the people in China and Myanmar

I dunno Nelson, those predictions seem to be based on faith more than anything else. But, I am sure with the technology we have, we can predict when something this big is going to happen. I would like to donate money, but as of now my funds are low.

One way you can help is if you use MSN Live Messenger, I think its Microsoft that is donating 10 cents for every user that put (R) in their display name. It should appear as a rainbow when you type it in.

Words cannot express an event like this. Human emotion like no other will be felt now, and as time passes. My heart goes out to those effected by this disaster.

everyone should help donate money if everyone just donates a little it could help a lot. It is really sad to see this happen, but it was an earthquake so there is nothing you can do to stop it.

I’m definitely going to make a contribution to this. Its always nice to help people in need. It makes you feel really good inside. :) I also think its great that your taking the time to make a blog post about all this. Your a real great person Chris!

I think it is Good to help china cuase it could come abck on us in a positive manner and that is exactly what we want and need!

i do believe that we need to help china in a time for crisis and i personally wish that i could go over and help but i dont have the money

OMG you seems to be locked on the table, look at the “interest” face of the dog. Oh shit, he’s kind of afraid of fat chineese woman………HAHUAHUAUHAUHAUHAUH

Thanks for those people..

i certainly do not like some of the country… but i believe “most” of the people are innocent..

china donate to myanmar…more than 100,000 dead and 2 million in danger>>>>china supports brutal burmese military junta which kills monks too.

donate to sudan where there is a genocide going on>>>>chinese buy sudanese oil and blocked several times UN efforts to send troops and stop the genocide.

donate to north koreans which are trying to go to the south through china but they get deported and raped>>>china is the principal partner of north korean brutal regime..

DONATE!

thanks for helping china!
