He Bleu Cheese
Tom's tasted the world's best filet, served by the world-famous 801 Steak and Chop House here in downtown Des Moines. He's never been there before, so I was happy to share the experience with him. I'm actually a little disappointed; I was hoping he wouldn't like it – so that I could offer to finish it for him. No such luck. I may have to hit it again, although he brought up the idea of heading west of town and hitting Rube's (where you can cook your own cut).

So will that be the new hotspot Thursday night or is Ohana's still the place to be?

I guess you've never been to Berns Steakhouse in Tampa or Smith & Wollensky in NYC.

Unless there are two, Rubes is east of Des Moines. I-80 to the Newton exit and go south on Highway 14.
By the way, delay Gnomedex a few days, willya? I'm in China and won't get back until late Saturday night. This will be the first I've missed.

Actually, we have been to Bern's in Tampa. We'd been told so many positive things, and unfortunately we were horribly disappointed in their steaks. Maybe they had an off night, but I'd have to consider 801 well ahead of Bern's.
Yes, there are now two Rube's (the other is in Waukee).

nothin' beats a little meat (lol) from the midwest. You should see what they try to pass off as CHOPS out here on the east coast. Conspiracy.
