the acai berry is a caloric drink (due the high lipase tenor), with high fiber tenor, anthocyanin and other micro-nutrients. It is considered one of the most nutritional antioxidant rich berries from the jungles of the rainforest..

The problem with juices is that they mostly have sugars and loads of added ingredients to stabilize it. If you want to enjoy Acai best to take freeze-dried Acai supplements - preferably Organic and Fair Trade.

Chris,

May I humbly refer you to Brian Dunning's Skeptoid podcast on this issue?
http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4086
Chances are, the Acai juice you're drinking contains no more antioxidants than an apple. If you like the taste, that's fine. But there's no scientific evidence to support the health claims you're making and it's probably more efficient to increase your antioxidant intake and "contain your free radicals" (whatever that means) by eating nutritiously. Eat vegetables and fruit.

I'm brazilian, and Açaí (as it is spelled in Portuguese) is one of the most popular food here.
It really is very very healthy and tasty!
Personally i prefer the "cream" version, which has an extra benefit during the summer. Since the cream is almost frozen, it is very refreshing.
