What game are you playing these days? Are you trying to beat it, or do you just enjoy playing it? My next question is… what game are you making? I’ve shared open-source tools with you in the past to help you create games. Now, there’s something new on the horizon. Atmosphir is a free video game / creation tool for Mac & PC.

Design mode lets you create enormous 3D platforming levels filled with fun gameplay elements like power-ups and fireballs, while Play mode lets you explore through the thousands of diverse user-created challenges being uploaded every day.

Atmosphir is currently in a private beta, with a worldwide release scheduled before the end of the year. Be sure to sign up for the Beta if you’re interested in helping test this program and give good feedback!

If you’ve always wanted to build your own game, this may be your chance. You can do a variety of things. Design your own levels and change options such as sounds and effects. Or you can simply just jump in and play. It’s a gaming experience that allows you to be in control of how you play.

The most exciting thing is being able to create your own games, or look at those that others have done. When you start to upload levels, maybe we should come up with a keyword so we can share with each other! Let me know when you have your first one ready to share with the world.

ive been waiting for like 2 weeks!

I once thought about buying one of those ‘create your own game’ software things, but never did. I’m kind of glad I didn’t, I think I would have been disappointed with my own game… =[ I’ll leave that to the developers.
