Gourmet Wi-Fi
Starbucks grows on you, much like fungus grows on trees if left to nature. We're staying in Del Mar (CA), but our hotel doesn't have broadband. Where can Wi-Fi be found, then? Starbucks, of course… where they offer tall soy one-pump mochas… where they offer caffeine ala carte… where we've signed up for month-to-month T-Mobile Hotspot access. I'm gonna use the bejesus out of it this month, as we're traveling north in a few weeks – and east in a few more weeks. If there's one thing you can count on when visiting major cities, it's Starbucks. Like it or not, it's completely homogenized Wi-Fi access for me.
This robust network is made for speed with a full T1 connection at every location. Using either a laptop or PDA that is Wi-Fi 802.11b wirelessly-enabled, download your email attachments, watch a live webcast, or listen to streaming audio. Connect wirelessly, effortlessly to the world's largest public Wi-Fi network. Now every T-Mobile HotSpot features enhanced security and privacy between your computer and the access point when using the new T-Mobile Connection Manager software. Our network now supports the IEEE 802.1x security standard with WiFi Protected Access (WPA). This provides robust encryption of data transfer over the air between devices connected via WPA.
Forget the coffee, man – they oughta just sell these cozy commons as wi-fantastic outright. I have “no choice” but to use Starbucks, Wi-Fi hotspots – if only to avoid “pay $10 here and $20 there” charges at separate, unaffiliated locations. Thanks for enabling my Wi-Fi addiction! Anyway, if you wanna catch us, we'll be here until closing time – we don't have to go home, but we can't stay wireless here.
