Googlefasting: Day 8
Continued from Day 1, Day 1.5, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7…
- I know I'm the #1 result on Google for AdSense Secrets. Don't know where the hell I am on any of the others. Really needed to find that page, too. I just added my last name to it and found AdSense Secrets.
- Fired up Yahoo! Maps to find places to eat near our hotel. Very frustrated that I can't type in Business names and have it find them. This is going to be another long 7 days.
- I wonder: if you're listed in Google and nowhere else, does the world notice? And conversely, if you're listed everywhere else but Google, does anybody care?
- For grins, I looked up “Googlefasting” in Yahoo! – 53,200 hits?! How the hell is that possible so quickly? Is Yahoo! lying? MSN allegedly has 10,119 pages indexed – another possibly inflated number. Ask has a meager (and much more realistic) 197 pages. On any given engine, I can't browse past the first few sets of results. What good is a five-digit number if you can only browse into the 100s (if that)? Suddenly, those numbers I used to think were important no longer seem important to me.
- After scoring my 5th free Xbox from TextPayMe, I decided to look at where I ranked in the engines for that keyword. Yahoo! has me at a lowly 12, IceRocket seats me at 3 with my original Lockergnome post, Ask seems to be swayed by the number of times a keyword appears on any given page… I wonder where I sit in the mother of all search engines?
- Started to dig a little deeper into IceRocket. You have to love their IceSpy and Blog Trends tools.

FWIW, Google currently shows you at 51,600 pages.
Do a Yahoo or MSN search on “brrreeeport scoble”, and read the recent discussion of this.
