Googlefasting: Day 11
Continued from Day 1, Day 1.5, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10…
- Slow search day
- Without logging any specific search today, I'm realizing that rank really does matter - and relevancy is all over the map. Who says what's hot - and who says what's not? There's no easy way to compare one against the other. At least, on the same page. That's food for thought as we expand Gada.be to take on user accounts. I need more good developers. *sigh*
- Where I know a story from Lockergnome might place in Google, it's nowhere to be found in Yahoo! Given current traffic trends and percentages, I'm not terribly disturbed by this revelation. As a publisher, I've gotta back the search engine that drives the most amount of traffic to my resources. Sorry, MSN - the only way you're going to be better Google in six months is if you drive more traffic.
- I'm so lazy. I'm using the search engines to do things I used to be able to do on my desktop. Spell checking, for instance - or simple calculations. I'll make a typo, or forget to hit CTRL+Enter, but the search engine corrects the mistake for me (or points me in the right direction). Google still does it best, in this respect.
- Following my laziness thread, the search engine has officially replaced Bookmarks and Favorites.
- I can't believe I've done this for 11 days. In the beginning, I thought it would have been impossible. Now, I'm feeling a bit lackadaisical towards the whole situation. I guess that means Google detox takes a little over ten days to get through? I could live without Google - but I don't wanna.
