I am having the same problem right now actually. I do think a solution would be if you’re desperate to add your gtalk to contacts back would be to export your google contacts again as CSV fle, and save a copy as a back up. Open the non back up copy of your contacts, filter it such that all contacts ending in @google.com are no longer their, then delete those contacts not ending in @google.com. Go to your google contacts delete all of those contacts. Then upload the .csv file with your contacts who have an @google.com, then add all of them to gtalk using the invite contacts function. Then merge the back up copy of your contacts to your gmail contacts. I think this would work but it would also fall under the category of jumping through hoops

Chirs..Were you able to find the solution? I did exactly the same thing and have now lost more than 100 contacts in my google talk. Please do revert if you have a solution. Regards.

I don’t remember what URL means, I cannot find “auto fill” on the toolbar, and I cannot get anything on my gmail page after I click on the little red envelope and the signals come on saying “loading” and the little green ribbon at the bottom of the screen stops flashing and in the lower left corner says “done” there is still no address book, no in box or instructions for sending or receiving gmail. I want my gmail page back with instructions and address book. HELP! Wilma sartain at wilmasway@gmail.com

i think that once you import all your contacts back you will get prompted that someone you once chatted with is inviting you to chat.
