In Google’s ever-expanding mission to own the world, they have made another acquisition this week. Labpixies is a recent start-up that creates widgets and applications for platforms such as the iPhone, Facebook and Google, and describes themselves as making the “Coolest gadgets on the web”.

The transaction took place on Monday evening, and marks the search giant’s eighth company take-over this year. The existing team from Labpixies is expected to join the Google office in Tel Aviv, Israel, and have commented on the buy-out on their company blog:

The acquisition is an opportunity to learn from each other to bring more apps to users, help developers and improve the overall developer ecosystem.

Full details on the deal have yet to be announced, but it’s believed Labpixies will now concentrate on using the Opensocial foundation for all its applications, an open standard used by iGoogle and many other social-networking services, apart from Facebook.
