Gnomedex Keystone: Dean Hachamovitch!
Dean Hachamovitch - Who turned Clippy off in Office? The same guy who helped invent autocorrect and red squiggles (among other things) while spearheading Office user interface development in the 1990s, and then re-invigorated Microsoft's online casual games business during the dot-com meltdown. In a nut-shell, he's my kind of geek. He's now the General Manager of Microsoft's Internet Explorer team and driving Internet scenarios for Longhorn. Dean will talk about:
- How the future of the web is no longer just “browse”
- Why “really simple” is a good idea
- What Longhorn will deliver to make this easier for end-users, developers, and publishers
Dean, BTW, is *THE* man for Internet Explorer. And he's doing da 'Dex!

It sounds like he's got quite a resume, but I'm curious on how Mr. Hachamovitch would reply to the growing number of Firefox users due to the numerous vulnerabilities of IE. Are they finally going to implement a version of Internet Explorer in Longhorn that doesn't contain security flaws up the wazoo? I'm not trying to troll, I'm just curious why Internet Explorer is still such a crappy browser with little evident work by Microsoft to rectify this.
