Giddyup Geek Let’s Go!
Ok, so it’s a corny title. It made you want to click and read, didn’t it? If you think about it, though, you’ll realize that the title is actually kind of appropriate. Us Geeks do “giddyup and go” on a daily basis. We are the ones who are out there on the Internet, discovering and writing about what’s new and hot. We’re the ones who are standing in line for hours on end to get the latest and the greatest. We’re the ones who are on the cutting edge of Technology, ready to take the leap. In those respects, who could argue that we are the ones who are forging the way for the rest of the World when it comes to Technology?
I’ve been traveling a lot recently, and it’s seriously good to be home again. I spent time in Texas for SXSW, and was able to visit my brother for a few days afterwards. Sadly, I ended up with Bronchitis, so the visit wasn’t the greatest we’ve ever had. I came home for about a day, and then flew off to California to participate in the launch of the newest MacHeist Bundle event. That was a lot of fun!
As you know, though – even when I’m on the road I’m still reading. All of you out there in our community work hard every day to put quality content online to share with the World. You make my job of sharing that content easy!
- How can you get over $1000.00 worth of Mac software for only $39.00?
- Are you a fan of the newest Microsoft ads?
- How do you compress files?
- What kind of mouse are you currently using?
- Are you a fan of TRON Light Cycle games?
- Will contract-free iPhones lead to problems?
- Windows 7 is getting even more locked down.
- How many social networking sites are you active on?
- Can I has cheezeburger?
- Do you suffer from driver issues?
-
- Is Windows 7 a leap forward?
- Apple vs. Microsoft – it all comes down to cost.
Amaze your friends the next time they beg you to come over and fix their computer problems. Using GoToAssist, you can instantly and easily log into their computer, allowing you to quickly diagnose those pesky errors, or even help them understand how their new program works.

Very true! It is the geeks that keep pushing for bigger and better! And I’d say, in the hardware department, one of the largest, most vocal (money wise) groups are the gamers. Where would we be today if Nintendo hadn’t come along and saved the industry? Hollywood was a big part of the push as well, but without gaming, I’d say we’d be many years behind where were are today.
Side note: I just discovered your site. I was a fan of you and all the others from TechTV (before it merged with G4 and became the new freakin MTV). Looks like I can continue to get a small slice that old school TechTV goodness!

I am quite a geek myself, however, I do not really pay much attention to the latest and greatest in technology, I mainly just use what we have now and learn what I can about it, sometimes offer ideas to companies like crucial and kingston. Before USB flash sticks came out I used to hot flash my bios chips with uniflash and a flashing board, I thought why do they not use this technology in USB format, so I made the suggestion and it boomed. I feel really silly for not patenting it myself at times, but I would rather see it out and about rather than have to deal with all that legal stuff.
Being a geek should not be such a stereotypical idea as to be classified in such a way as presented in this article either, there are car geeks, art geeks, animal geeks, sci-fi geeks and so on with a wide variety of how involved they are to being such a geek.
