Get Thee To A Winery
I'm not writing this because I have to – I'm doing it because I want to. I think I know why everybody likes Dave Winer so much. He's direct, smart, sincere, and (most importantly) genuine. “This above all, to thine own self be true.” Shakespeare was writing about Dave. How do I know? Well, he, Robert, Patrick, Gretchen, and I went out to dinner in Palo Alto the other night. We had Chinese, in case you were curious. Even with spicy noodles on hand, the conversation had much more flavor.

Good to know people like him, as the feedback I heard about him last week at SXSW was *far* from positive. Me, I don't care one way or another – I like everyone, and everyone likes me! (Yeah, ok, maybe in some parallel universe…)

Where did you get that idea? Either your sense of sarcasm is very subtle or you know Dave in a total different way than a lot of folks got to know him out here on the web – as an arrogant, self-centered, houlier-than-thou a**hole.

Oh look, Andreas repeated the sentiments I heard probably 50 times last week… I have no opinion either way, but it seemed like a lot of people had that same opinion of him, especially people that were from the San Francisco area. He seems to have made a lot of enemies in his own back yard. Maybe that will turn around though over time…
