Invariably, when you’re on the road, you forget a document at home. It’s of course difficult to get to them, especially if no one is at home to send them to you. It’s also hard to get to them with your iPhone… unless you use Google Docs, of course!
If you have a mobile device that has an Internet connection… you can access your documents at any time, day or night. If you aren’t already using them, shame on you! You can easily do all the basics, including making bulleted lists, sorting by columns, adding tables, images, comments, formulas, changing fonts and more. And it’s free!! Google Docs accepts most popular file formats, including DOC, XLS, ODT, ODS, RTF, CSV, PPT, etc. So go ahead and upload your existing files.
I love this. I love just knowing something is there when I need it, where I need it. It doesn’t get much better than that.

I didn’t try Google Docs yet, but it’s really a cool idea. I usually use an utility similar to MS remote desktop, to help me instead of G docs.
G doc is a drawback (not a google fault), it needs a fast connection (by fast I mean a connection faster than 512Kbps) to work with no problem.

Google is simply amazing. Such a great service that you don’t have to pay a penny. The only problem that I have with Google docs is that word processing documents are formated usually basic HTML. That means if you upload a word processing document that has a lot of formatting, there is a good chance that it will look different. Because of this, when I am going a working an adocument that will see the Google servers, I start the document on Google Docs and don’t bother uploading documents.

Google doc’s is great. I have a sky drive account as well, through Microsoft, but I find it far less accessible. I -try- to keep a copy of everything I’m working on on each of three computers, but inevitably I end up forgetting the one thing I truly need… Google docs is a life saver… Though more so lately its google calender I’ve been leaning on heavily…

Hey, that’s cool! What I have been doing is emailing them to my yahoo account. When I need to access them, I just check my mail from my cell phone or I can use anyone’s computer and access all of my important documents.

Google Docs is always good for a college student. You don’t have to carry your flash drive around because there is an internet connection just about everywhere you go! Just in case, I would carry your flash drive around with you!

I always back-up everything (I personally don’t have a mobile internet device), but if something happens to my computer, I always have back-up via email, or in documents, yes this is one of the only few reasons I use Google.

Looks like on the iPhone, an un-jailbroken iPhone, it works quite well… Safari did crash on my once.. but I believe that is because I told it to do something a bit more than it could handle. Which does handle every now and then. Everyone should try this. It’s still got a long way to go, but it looks like it is going in the right direction.

That is really neat. Wish I could afford an iPhone. What I usually do is email myself all my imprtant course work for university so that if my hdd ever fails or my laptop decides to fianlly give up on me I will always have that back of my files on my gmail account. I use gmail because of the huge amount of space that they provide for your emails, which suits my backup needs.

Oh yeah, I knew about this it’s pretty cool, like I use it at my school instead of just carrying around a flash drive that can easily be broken or lost I can just go on a library computer and just edit my document on google docs. Its pretty convenient and I don’t feel that google crashes very often. If it did, the world would go mad.

Oh yea I’ve heard about this. I use it a lot instead of carrying around flash drive that can easily be broken, stolen, or lost. So when I go to the library I can always edit my documents with a simple username sign-in on google. So it’s really convenient. Thanks chris.

If I were to use anothers computer google docs seems like a great place to store my data. Personally if I am going on the road I ow bring my laptop or if I did not have it I would bring my portable HD. Google docs to me does not seem like a serious place to do any work but it is great for storing and archiving.

I think this is the future. Not only storing your files online, but your apps would be online as well. (Think ASP). Most already do this with email…it’s only natural that other apps follow suit. You purchase a “shell” OS, yet access all apps and files online. The advantages are obvious…the drawbacks are application speed via your internet connection, security for your data, licensing issues, access points and the like.
A smart practical solution like this would spell the end of boxed, tangible, in-hand, products, lower distribution costs and software update costs and not to mention the lower costs of hardware. Of course gamers will suffer… :) …we can’t have that now can we?

I got an iPod touch myself and I use(d) this. It’s very handy, espacially when there’s no WiFi at school.. oh wait, then it’s not. I do use it when I’m at a friend and I wanna see one of my documents without having to be at their PCs, or simply when I’m too lazy to get off the couch. But you almost sound as if you were payed by Google to say it this way ;)

Google docs seems to be awesome especially now when you can continue to use google docs when you don’t have the ability to connect to internet, you can simply save your documents when you can connect to the internet again, this will set pressure on Microsoft cause there is no need for regular windows applications to be operational and it makes it much easier for news paper editors because they can collaborate with other people and therefore the editors don’t have to deal with troublesome e-mail attachments and they don’t to keep track of the newest update, that way they don’t have to miss a single deadline.
Google docs really looks like a really good idea, no matter if you run a business, go in school or if you only do it for fun.

Well I don’t use Google docs, but I see how much you and other people like it, I might start using Google docs. I have always been a traditional Microsoft Office Suite guy, and I recently upgraded to Office 2007. So ounce that becomes out of date, I might start using Google docs, as my primary office suite. And being able to access the docs on the go, that is awesome. I hope they come out with tech on how to edit them on the go. I tried accessing them with my PSP and that works too.

Google Docs is definitely a great tool… especially for the mobile professional. I wish more applications were on the web so I could access my personal settings and use that app online in the same manner as Google Docs. Backing up your computer, pics, vids, etc. online just makes good sense… as long as those servers keep going good.

That is really cool. You can see your docs on an iPhone or iPod Touch. Thumbs up for google on adding that feature. That will be really useful for buisness people who are always on the go. Now your docs are just a few “Taps” away. That makes Google Docs better than it already was.

Google is amazing! They are changing the way we use software. Not only is it free, but it is accessibly by any computer around the world that is connected to the internet. They also are supporting multiple file formats and not making their own special format that can only be used by Google Docs. I especially enjoy their Spreadsheet program. I am happy to see multiple alternatives to Microsoft Office. Hopefully, as a result of this, Microsoft Office will come down in price.

I’ve been using Google Docs for awhile now. It’s great.
At school when we start working on something, everyone opens up the respective Microsoft Office program, and I open up Google Docs. I also love how I can download them as PDFs and print them out that way.
No more flash drives for me.
I guess the only downside is, if you need to edit or retrieve a doc and don’t have internet access, oh well.
Oh yeah, I’d totally check out Google Docs on the iPhone, that is if I actually had one. I just wish the cell phone companies would use the same network type, then we could all use unlocked iPhones.

Google Docs is a great service! I always use it for my school work. It saves my documents online, and it also gives me the option to publish it so I can have others view my documents too if I want. This is much better than Microsoft Word because no program is needed to use it, it’s completely online. It has been very convenient for me! They also added an “Offline” Google Docs, which allows you to make documents offline and then automatically submit them online when you go online.

I’ve always loved using any Google product. Google Docs is one of the best. One of the cool features that Google just added was the ability to have your documents automatically backed up to your local hard drive, so if you didn’t have an internet connection, you could still view and edit your files. After you got re-connected, Google Docs automatically syncs them with the copies online. How cool is that!

Google is making fantastic Internet services. But I still can’t use their office replacement in my all days life, it’s just not so easy to use like Microsoft products or maybe apples but I haven’t used that on yet.
But great to store your data with Google is by installing Gdrive and upload your that on a simple mail account which you can access like a hard drive build in to your computer.

I think this is a great concept, however I think I still prefer the idea of services such as ‘Back to my Mac’. Knowing that you definitely have everything that you need incase you forget it is a bit more reassuring for me.
If Google provided a Document auto-back software option then I think this idea would be completely sold to me, but not quite yet.

I previously had not been a hardcore Google user, but I have to say that this might have me sold on actually using it. I am always toooo lazy to buy ink for my printer, so I just go to the library to print it out. Sometimes, however, sometimes I forget to e-mail the document to myself and it is a real pain to walk all the way back. This would have also been good for my nephew, as he had to type a paper and put it on a floppy disk….
