Geek Dinner in Portland

We're headed down to Portland this coming weekend – just for grins. After all, the Pacific Northwest has much more to offer than just Seattle and Vancouver. The idea was originally brought up in a podcast a few weeks ago with Alex Williams. I asked the boss if we could spend a few hours down south (before WinHEC begins), and she agreed. So, if you live in the area, or know other geeks in the area, you might tell 'em that something's going down. It's my first Portland Geek Dinner!

Date: April 22nd
Time: 6pm
Where: Blue Moon
Who is Welcome?: Everyone!

Geeks and friends of geeks are certainly going to be in attendance, so please join us if you have time on your hands. I don't think they have WiFi, but I'd recommend bringing a digital camera to record videos and snapshots of the event. A good time will be had by all… or just me, if it boils down to it.

GoDaddy Web hosting plans are now more powerful than ever. Best of all, their plans start at just $3.95/month! No matter what plan you choose, your site receives 24/7 maintenance and protection in a world-class data center. Plus, as a listener of The Chris Pirillo Show, enter code CHRIS2 when you check out, and save an additional $5 off any order of $30 or more. Get your piece of the internet at GoDaddy!

I don't know if you've ever been to Portland, dude, but McMenamins' restaurants are the shiznit.
Hang out in Pioneer Square (downtown Portland), surf wirelessly for free, courtesy of local biz and the Personal Telco project.
McMenamins. Shiznit.

I shall wait for pictures…

count me in. at last we get to meet. Shiznet that is if you like burgers, beer, tie dye and the Dead. A true Portland tradition.

Sweet. I'll be there, and I'll probably do some podcast soundseeing and videoblogging of the event. Looking forward to it! :-)

If you're in Portland for more than one night, you might want to consider stopping in at Le Bistro Montage (http://www.montage.citysearch.com). While it can be a little loud at times, they have a great menu and ambience. However, be warned that at times it can be quite loud!

I so wish i lived there!!!

I will be in attendance with my wife. I have assured her that Judy will be there as well to help her with her geek speak allergy, maybe Ponzi can help as well. It is however a lot of fun to watch her have a geek reaction. The eyes get all glossy and she starts to fidget and eventually she must leave the room or I must change the topic ASAP. Normally I am not as concerned by the geek aversion but she is pregnant as well so I have learned that its good to keep her happy ;)

Chris, here's the info for the Portland Nerd Dinner thing I was talking about.
