Largely, I've found it easier to tag or link to an aggregated location of results than it is to tag to a specific vendor all the time. Share the love, man! Announcing the public beta of http://gada.be/ (yes, that's .be). This is a metasearch service with a few unique features, no matter where or how you view it. gada.be is for anybody with access to the Web and in need of immediate, impartial results.
You're going to save time and bandwidth immediately; imagine how long it would take to traverse all those sites just to find the one thing you were looking for!? If you tend to view only the top results for a cursory search, why not just feed you the top results in one easy spot (where you can subsequently subscribe to them)?
It was borne out of several frustrations. If you've ever tried to visit a Web site over a mobile device, you know it's a pain in the knuckle. The domain had to be simple to key-in from anywhere. gada.be is 4232.2233 on most cell phones and/or PSP. Normally, when you want to find something online, you have to choose a Web site (wait for the page to load) enter the query (wait for the second page to load) then see results from that provider. With “gada.be,” you insert the query *AS* the subdomain!

Those are two different URLs, each with a different set of results. A dot between two keywords implies a quoted statement, whereas a dash implies the AND operator. Note, too, that you can easily change categories by adding the designated category slug to the end of the entire URL. Too geeky for you? Then you're thinking too hard about it.
We're currently collecting results from ~140 sources! Remember, there's more than just a default category to be selected or accessed.
Then, there's having to visit several sites just to get the results you want. You don't want fancy graphics - you want RESULTS! Often, this isn't feasible when you're on-the-go. Even when you're sitting with a laptop or chained to a desktop, it's still a time-consuming process. We all love the individual search services, so why not bring 'em together? Okay, that's what we did. Moreover, we dynamically output OPML which you can turn around and import into your favorite news aggregator. gada.be saves everybody time!
We're fueled by dynamic (keyword-driven) search results in RSS or Atom formats; if you know of a service that we're not utilizing, please tell us what the output string is (exactly) so that we might integrate it. The keyword(s) must be visible within the URL! This has to be easy for us to use so that we can make it easy for everybody else to use.
gada.be has its own Firefox Search Plugin and Konfabulator Widget. However, there should be virtually no learning curve with this particular service. You know how to search for stuff, right? Done.
We're also producing OPML automatically for you, which is a great way of organizing and transporting RSS feeds between applications. You can take the OPML URL and import it into your favorite news aggregator. You can generate the OPML from anywhere in gada.be. All you do is add a “/opml” at the end of the gada.be URL (without quotes, of course). You can also limit the OPML file to a certain gada.be category. If you wanted to get the “Social” feeds in an OPML file, you would use the “o” slug in the URL. Long story short: you can use OPML to import a set of RSS feeds into your news aggregator:

I'm just the proverbial idea guy; the heavy lifting was done by two very intelligent developers, Shayne Sweeney and his friend Adam. We'll be rolling out more features in the coming weeks and months; this is just the beginning.
Right now, the server is getting crunched - which is better than the alternative at this point. We're taking steps to rectify the situation, adding load balancing, etc.. Sorry about that; we underestimated the need.
NOTE: Remember, we have all sorts of categories… showing results from ~140 different sources, not just the ones on the Default page. Linking to a category page is just as easy, too - just add the designated letter to the end of your gada.be URL):

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

The site is down. wtf?

So, the site isn't down. It just takes 5 minutes for a single word search to return. Do you really think anyone is going to sit and watch the IE flag wave for 5 minutes? Nope.

You need a robots.txt file blocking bots from SERP pages or the search engines are going to tag you as a huge page spammer. Each SERP looks like a new site. You'll soon have thousands of “sites” with scraped content and text ads–the telltale sign of a PPC spammer.

This is going to be a must have site I posted about it on my blog as well and I agree with TechCrunch

Congrats Chris for getting things rolled out! It is still as great as the first time you showed it to me. ;) Yall keep up the great work!

Hey Chris, if you need some hosting for it (Free of charge) get ahold of me.. thisearly@gmail.com I can help.

Looking for a search plugin at http://mycroft.mozdev.org/, I couldn't find any, so I created one.
Then, of course, I found it at http://gada.be/about when trying to notify you (schtoopid me). Added the “ei” attribute and resubmitted with your icon. My version should have sidebar support, just about to test it now…
I can remove it if you want.
PS: Great work! This will probably be my new Google.

Konfab widget doesn't seem to work (on the Mac platform)… Who wrote it?

MT-GadaBe is now available.

You have a nice way to specify the category. It would also be useful to specify the search engine(s) to include.

So, what happened to this - it looks extinct? Is it hosted somewhere else?
